I occasionally do work for a mate (who runs a legitimate company). I invoice him on an invoice template I concocted in Word, like you, when I started out I didn’t want a project number ‘001’, so used the year of my birth, an ran consecutive numbers from there. I put the money in an entirely separate building society account. I’m up front with HMRC (unlike our fishy friends), and every April I complete a self assessment form, once HMRC have had their pound of flesh, I take the rest from the account and usually fritter it away on whatever the Mrs decides (and my season ticket). Obviously I pay tax at the usual PAYE rate, as I’m a sole trader & have never bothered setting up a company.

We weren't allowed DM boots in school, so I bought a pair of DM shoes. Still have them today & wear them when gardening 29 years later. (When I was a 14 year-old rudie, I never thought I'd be gardening ).

When I was a kid, in Bitterne Park there used to be a Plumber in Oaktree Rd called Mr Buckett, complimented by a plumber in Sandringham Rd called Mr Flood.

Indeed. Thanks for the links, I think I may have spent a little too long lingering over the Photo Gallery pages.

Both of my lads play Rugby, and this is exactly how rugby (certainly in Hampshire) is organised. There is zero tolerance when it comes to abuse & critism, both towards the ref & other kids playing. I remember a few years ago when my nipper was playing Under-12, the ref was having a mare & there were a few mumblings amongst the parents (nothing serious, just comments amonst themselves). After the match, our coach sent the kids on a run around the pitch, called the parents over to him & proceded to lecture us about our behaviour.

That's about how many I would let in in a season (per team )

Was it Budgie who told a young Alan Shearer to go in hard on keepers & make sure he hits them?

As a young goalkeeper myself at the time, I used to spend a lot of time watching Shilts, Flowers & Budgie (christ we were spoilt in those days). Loved his warm ups, he wasn't happy for the strikers to lash shots as hard as thet could at him, but went & did his own thing. It definitely paid dividens, 800 games & 46 years old when he finally retired. I loved the bit about sharpening his studs & spiking Ardiles, wish I'd thought of that. I think I'll be parting with a few pennies for that book.

What a great day. I was so pleased I could take my youngest son to see Saints in a Wembley/cup final. I felt I ‘owed’ him one, as my eldest went to Cardiff in 2003 when he was 6, and after our dramatic fall from grace I was thinking it would never happen. I felt it appropriate that the goals were scored by Lambert, Lallana, Waigo & Antonio, for me, they seemed to do epitomise our JPT run. I was also pleased that when Chris Perry got on the pitch. The only disappointment I have is that the club seemed to treat our win as a bit of an embarrassment, the trophy was never paraded at SMS & isn’t even in the squad photo. Oh I miss Waigo & Antonio too.

Alp D'Huez is pretty good for kids & novices, plenty of easy runs & also some reds & blacks for the more adventurous. -
Not forgetting 4 of these were penalties apparently

May 14th is the FA Cup Final. Would they play on the same day as that? I want to see a band on the 10th May, our last game is on the 7th, so I assume I wont need to choose.

Whilst I'm no fan of Bandwagon Dave, I think it's a bit unfair to criticise him for helping out a charity. I know it wasn't funny, but he had a go.

Ah... the EDL. Everyone's favourite cheeky scamps.

What's this 3% Football League levy? Is it something that will effect us?
-
I don't think we will go up automatically, injuries & suspensions could be a significant factor in this. We've lost Morgan & Gobbern for a while, I don't know what the yellow card count currently is, but Deano & Chappers bust be getting near a suspension. If one of those two get suspended, our midfiled will look very second-rate. We also need Kelvin to stay uninjured. Hoping for a top 2 place, but I just can't see it at the moment. Still I've never been to Manchester, so it should be a nice day out.
