I went there today without any confidence of seeing anything different from the last few matches. The team started ok and then Preston changed tactics, we couldn’t respond and then just had no play b to change the flow of the game. Nobody on the pitch seemed to be leading the team, not much experience on the pitch either. I’ve been through the branfoot, Lowe out, portfleit, redknapp days but this is the most worrying as before we shite squads but we’ve a ok one at present. When fans around me started calling out the board some just say there and smiled away.. unbelievable really that some fans just seem content to watch this shite week after week.still needs releasing from his duties. Get a manager who would unite the fans. I can only think of Ralph or Nigel Adkins, the latter I always believed was tactically sound and could work out ways of winning games after difficult periods in matches. Manning was booked because he got so frustrated as downs couldn’t control a football.. he’s really poor. What was spors thinking.. he’d struggle to look decent at AFC Totton. fine margins but saints never the right side of them.

Archer is just easily pushed off the ball. He’s small but stocky and should be stronger.

The big issue for me as if we do get promoted I don’t see at present any of our new signings or any of our current squad being remotely good enough to make the step up. it’s early days I know but the latter players we brought in look very lightweight and easily bullied off the ball. We lack real pace outside and no ability to go past a player. Only player at present in the squad that can is edoize… we spent a small fortune on I’m not sure what.

In this league we needed strength, size and power and the last few signings have been anything but… Murphy was down the road, a winger on the up, decent on the ball, has pace and can deliver. SR go and buy unknowns who’ve no idea what the championship is all about. SR are destroying this club and the owner needs to go and sell up. fans need to get off the players backs and tear the directors box apart if things get worse.

If our full backs had pushed high in that formation we’d have been so open to counter attacks.. did you not notice pompeys wingers starting positions.. very high and wide, especially Murphy.

If you play a 4 that’s the downside… they won’t get forward and if you noticed Murphy’s position he hung out high and wide..

Pompey better organised, moved the ball quicker and on the balance had the better chances. We look absolutely blunt up top, slow in possession and just a complete mess with no recognisable style of play…

This game will Be won or lost on who keeps their head.. flying into challenges in the first 10 mins could easily see one team down to 10 or 9… with saints with pacy wingers I’d invite those challenges.. get a player booked and then start playing in and around and hope to force a second.. my concern is Stephen’s.. who’s not the wisest.
