  1. I thought he was playing for Leyton Orient, but I get confused with relegated teams from Div1 that long ago!
  2. Why is what I merely allowed for as a sensible business possibility a conspiracy?
  3. Ah well, that's ok then. Let's not bother to try to provide a good service to everyone.
  4. What business do you work in? Do you have any customers?
  5. Wow, thats so nice of them. A piece of grudging customer service. There is a pattern establishing itself here (apart from the one where I show that I think NC doesn't give a sh*t about fans except how he can separate them from their money).
  6. Or maybe not. Maybe Or maybe not. For a club with a Five Year Plan (sounds rather Stalinist when it's put like that) they either seem prone to doing knee-jerk things, or it is in The Plan to go for walk ups over season tickets. Loyalty means eff all to NC. Get used to it.
  7. What has a pin no. got to do with setting up a DD? Why are people excusing the club's process here with rubbish like "you have to drive down for a match don't you?" or "get a relative to do it for you". Would you excuse a London Theatre if they were acting in the same way as the football club? Where I work we do not have "paperless" direct debiting so have to do it the old fashioned way with paper DD mandates. We send out the forms all the time, and process them when we get them back. No problem, but it takes a few days longer. If what the originator of the thread says is correct, the club are being a bit obstuctive, or just plain stupid, it seems to me.
  8. You say thay other people are idiots but you base your opinion on what a player says publically!! If you wanted more money than a club were prepared to offer you, would you announce to the world you are a greedy barsteward, or say it's because you want (and are capable of) a better standard of football? Ever heard of pinches of salt? I think you should try taking a player statement with a big one of them.
  9. Is it beyond the realms of possibility that he bid in the expectation of getting that money and made the bid conditional on getting it? Just a thought.
  10. I would have thought that if you don't want to read certain posters' contributions, AND you don't want to read other posters' responses to those posters, even though it's a piece of p*ss just to scroll past them, you should think seriously whether an internet forum is for you at all.
  11. I like the bit that says: "Elevate legs in the Bahamas is announced - but not for long. GC gave his rocket 10 days holiday" I doubt that he is giving his "rocket" a holiday in the Bahamas. It'll probably be due for a long rest after 10 days.
  12. Just because he had to be pressed for an answer doesn't mean he hadn't been thinking about it. I don't believe they are in it for the long haul. I think NC's in it for a promised profit share. The question is how long it will it take to get him enough profit, but I can't see an Italian banker wanting to hang around English football for too long.
  13. Isn't the fact he said that an indication that there is a distinct possibility of it happening? Cue all those who remain convinced that the family continue to love us to jump in and say any good business person makes sure he maintains his options. But if I owned the Saints, had more than enough dosh to last forever and it was my intention to continue to support the club for the forseeable future I would have no need for an option to bail out. They haven't spent a huge amount getting us up a division, and I think they could even now sell for a sizeable profit. And no one knows what ML promised NC in relation to this little enterprise.
  14. The financial results suggest that NC will not spend much beyond what he can finance in the shortish term. I think you are right - signings will need to be financed by additional revenue - hence significant efforts to raise charges where possible - and money from sales. But if we are to sell the O-C would our preference be Arsenal? They don't seem to like doshing out much as a first instalment. NC would I'm sure want to invite a bidding war (if the clubs rumoured to have been interested last season are still interested) if he can, and paper talk is usually the best way to encourage that rather that sofly-softly.
  15. I kind of agree, but then I've been questioning for a while now what "being a fan of my club" really means. You seem to be suggesting that it's just "buy a ticket to watch a local(ish) team play professional football", and I certainly believe that's how NC sees it. If he gets the club up to a certain level, he'll charge what he can successfully get away with, and as long as the tickets are in sufficient demand, if you don't want it at that price there's enough others who will. End of.
  16. I didn't see this game, but to me England's perennial problem is players just are not as comfortable with the ball at their feet as even minor nations' players are. Despite often greater fitness and a desire to play at a highish tempo all the time, we want to get rid of the ball as soon as possible, and we dread having an opponent come close. Other nations' players, at whatever level they are at, receive the ball and are not desperate to pass it straight away, or immediately run with it away from an opponent, or play some long crappy 'into space' pass. In fact they deliberately hold on to it to suck in one or more opponents, and are happy to hold on to it and allow time for teammates to move around, and wait for options. I'm not sure it really is England players trying to show off their skills, its more that they all seem to think they need to make a long killer pass or run with the ball away from an opponent as soon and as quickly as possible. That often looks like being anxious to impress, though in reality it just plain anxiety at having the ball. And to me that's exactly why Le Tiss would have been good at international level, had our managers understood the difference between English club football and the way in which international football is played, he had the skill and confidence to hold on to it and wait for an opportunity.
  17. I thought someone on here said NC was all for player power. Except those players who have agents??
  18. But if a player we might want has asked his agent to find him a new club, and his agent thinks he can get a decent move for his player without the perceived hassle of dealing with us, we lose out. (That's not to say I'm wholly believing what the agent is saying though).
  19. I have a feeling he likes to dance alone in front of a mirror.
  20. So people might as well have no opinion of their own on here, and just repeat whatever Nige (and NC) say.
  21. Is that the kind of side people want to loyally support? A bunch of short term loans cobbled together... What does " being a fan of.." mean when it descends to that? However unlike the thread starter, I'm not entirely sure though that NC cares about loyalty to the club. Results and a paying customer base is I'm afraid where he's heading. And if and when the Prem arrives and it's £65-70 quid to get in he won't turn a hair if you don't like it as long as someone else is prepared to pay.
  22. 1. Golac the winger 2. Golac the full back 3. Golac the leader 4. Golac the Magnificent 5. Tommy Traynor (he had to get a mention somewhere as a Eire international --- and his oiled hair made him look like a 1930's Italian anyway (or a precursor to Frank Worthington))
  23. His head is away in WAG land it seems, and I'm not sure he's what we would have really needed.
  24. Someone similar to those who start "Is NC the best chairman in the leage" type threads.
  25. It would seem so as far as Turkish is concerned.
