He couldn't play our style of football. He isn't a "old Lambert". I don't think Beattie is an intelligent enough footballer. I remember his dazed appearance for England - he didn't have a clue where to stand or where to run to. It was embarrassing.

What's more important ? The furture of SFC or its past ?

He actually said: "It feels like with NC we have a choice between the future OR the past. I'd like to have both." I think the latest round of sniping began with Cortese criticising MLT & ML for wanting freebees. He could just have declined to comment when the question was asked. Instead he clearly to want to bring up the issue again. That does smack rather of trying to get fans on his side against the "past". -

I'm glad you aren't my hairdresser. I'd come out with more split ones than I went in with. -
Jay Rodriguez - Signs on a 4 Year Deal

So he wasn't worth £5m, but he's worth £5m to Burnley, AND would be worth £5m to us if he scored the goals we need. That sounds like he's worth £5m, or that we ought only to have paid after he'd have got us promotion. I suggest you write to the Leagues' governing bodies with your proposal that transfer fees should only be paid when a player has fullfilled what was expected of him. Perhaps that can be done by including a "hindsight" clause in the contracts. -

Now correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm sure I've read people on here saying things of a new signing for us like "..and it was great to see him kiss the badge today.. he'll be a fan's favourite.." or words to that effect. As to the "thumping the left chest with a thumbs up" I thought that all started with Jimmy Dickinson still playing for the Skates at 47 or whatever, conveying to the Pompey manager after an attack that "it's ok, the ticker has restarted".

Are you from the city? I'm not originally and so pronounce it fully, my son on the other hand is, and regrettably says 'sthhamton' (though with silent second 'h' and second 't' - 'sutham'n). -
How do you know he is a good banker? Can you show us evidence? Has he won the Gruyere Cheese Award for Young Italian Bank Executives? Did he ever get a Highly Commended as Trainee of the Month in Investment Negotiables Monthly? You people just make stuff up.

Could be, after just 7 games. that losing to us has helped put them in those positions?? Just a thought. -

It's his opinion. You've been berating others for not discussing things (with you) in a civilised manner, Saint J 77 makes it clear everything he said is what he thinks, and gave his reasons for why he thinks it, so why the snide "is this based on anything" dig? If you don't think his opinion is wort anything then ignore it (i.e. follow you own advce). -

He turns up a day or so a week, and gets credit for the idea of paying for a shed load of experts who allegedly improve performance in their own micro-specialisms by an alleged 1%. This kind of thing is more of a religious belief than anything that has an effect you could really prove. This stuff might do something but is in itself pretty unscientific - it could just be a placebo-like effect of making players feel pampered. An hour's laptop dancing might do just as well. SCW might have done better with English rugby than others may have done immediately before him, but so what? Someone somewhere will always be doing better than someone else has done before. Would you start employing a German rowing coach because we've had rowing success? Let's be honest, Lowe got mesmerised by Woodward precisely because Lowe was more intrested in rugby than football. Lowe convinced himself he could revolutionise football just because he didn't like the way the game worked and those in it, but still went and appointed a "football man" like Redknapp! What a bell.

Arsenal went through last season with none at all (they were all either the player's own stupidity, or the ref's stupidity, and of course none of them count).

They invented sports science. Ask NickG.

Obviously the key word is goalkeeper. I expect when we asked Spurs what he was like as a keeper, we were told "he's really something else". They had that right.

For heaven's sake, city is singular so it must be "freedom has the city".

You mean "Would be able to do a job ON someone but not ON us, thank you."

Perhaps he's helped himself to too much from behind the bar and has lost whatever talent he had? If not, did we sign him without having seen him play at all? If so, one can only assume that somehow we discounted his 4 year wages against what we were paid, which begs the question: did Spurs pay over the odds in order to do TF a favour? If they just wanted him off their books, they'd probably have been better off getting rid themselves, rather than pay us to give him a four year contract. Or maybe they just saw us coming.

So you say he had it spot on in the Prem, but allowed the income from sales to be spent on too many poor signings. And maintained a pay structure that directly led to that. But apart from that he had it spot on. I think you've tried to contradict what GIG said but actually repeated what he said - Lowe couldn't re-invest what he earned. You've merely split hairs over the words profit and income, when everyone else knew what he meant.
