Neil Ruddock: Life and Crimes of a football hardman
hughieslastminutegoal replied to bridgeman's topic in The Saints
I'm surprised people can hear him speaking, his head is that far up his own a*rse. -
Careful, CBF will accuse you of joking, and then say it isn't funny.

Not sure how you know if he is just playing how he has been told. Nevertheless, you say Pelle's lack of movement (and goals) is because of coaching and instruction, not because of any deficiency of his own. Our lack of goals or incisiveness is all down to Koeman and the coaches in that case. Or is no one really responsible for our dearth of goals?

David "Docker" Walker RIP 1941-2015
hughieslastminutegoal replied to Fitzhugh Fella's topic in The Saints
I beg to differ somewhat- he was strong, not the quickest, but I don't remember him ever being crude or nastily dirty, unlike many other defenders around at that time. A pretty honest pro as I recall. Gabriel on the other hand could be ... well .... different. -
Does Pelle not have a responsibility to help create his chances, like by moving a bit? Maybe midfield etc. ponce about in front of the opposition defence so much because there is so little sharp movement from Pelle?
-
... if we stop patting ourselves on the back before Christmas about how great this season has been, and stop looking at the opposition defence as a mirror in which we can view the reflection of our pretty football. And find someone who can f*ing shoot.

Post-Match Reaction: Stoke City 2-1 SAINTS
hughieslastminutegoal replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Indeed. What with the opposition respecting us so much. But Stoke allowed their respect to slip enough for them to score a second goal. Don't they know the rules of the respect game? After they get one goal they are not supposed to get a second when they knew we can't do the same. FFS. -
Why on earth are you interested?

I was there, a long way up that steep stand and I can't remember much at all of the game - not surprising really as apart from the result the football was hardly worth remembering, pretty awful stuff as the vid shows. All I can remember was how we were all worried about Peter Taylor who in the end had as mediocre game as everyone else. But as the ball hardly touched the ground all game he didn't have much chance to shine. And the times we let the ball go across the 6 yard area, dreadful. The Final I remember slightly more about, mostly the nerves every time the ball went near Ian Turner, though he did ok in the end.

I said the other day that maybe Ron had lost his way with some of the players. Instead, maybe he is beginning to lose just a little patience with some of them, though if his problem against Hull was (he mentions them) Morgan and Toby, I think it's possibly more a lack of interest now, than nerves, although he did also mention Pelle.

Best bit of sarcasm I've seen for quite a while. Nice one!

Once they go ahead I'd have thought that's pretty much what they'd do. So you agree our lack of firepower influences the decision. So you agree that once a team goes in front they can fairly confidently sit back and mass the defence. The point is that the lesser sides WILL do that. The better ones probably won't bother to do that. Without firepower and creativity we will therefore struggle against most other sides ESPECIALLY when we go behind. It didn't start out that way this season but it clearly is the case now. So carry on being happy losing or drawing winnable games while consoling your that at least the other side 'respected' us. When I played I can't remember our manager coming into the dressing room after yet another 0-0 or 0-1 and telling us everything was ok because the other side had respected us. You can't fix a problem unless you admit it is one. "Doesn't the Emperor look wonderful in his suit of clothes, he parades around showing off all his quality!" the onlookers all say. And the little boy says "But he's naked".
-
...because we know Southampton can't score.... We are encouraging the very tactic you are complaining about.
-
It isn't about being fickle. But I agree with the rest of what you say. It's about looking as though we can't score when back a few months it looked as though anyone might score. Is if forbidden on here to consider what we might do to be better? One hopes the management are now doing that, so the standard is kept up or improved next season, so the club doesn't accept the "this is the best it is likely a small club will get" mentality. Everyone already knows that we have done better than we expected before the season started. If that IS the last word then the forum might as well be closed until the start of next season.

Everton 1 Saints 0 - Post Match Meltdown
hughieslastminutegoal replied to nta786's topic in The Saints
So you are of the opinion that what he said is all true, or that it's just something he has to say? If the latter there's not much point saying it or listening to it, it's just noise. I still think he's struggling to find a way to get us scoring again. At the start of the season goals were being spread around the team, now no one is scoring. If we concede first we will lose. The opposition drop deep and pack the defence, and we haven't a clue how to counter that, as we just have no one who can shoot, and we don't break quickly enough from defence. I just don't understand why a manager who was famous for his shooting and great goals from distance can't get any of his players to do it with any likelihood of success. -

Oh dear, this sounds a bit like self-justification, and someone trying too pretend almost everything is still working. I think Ron has lost his way somewhat with these players. -
Tadic's penalty last week - 350th since the war
hughieslastminutegoal replied to Fitzhugh Fella's topic in The Saints
So we missed far more when goalkeepers couldn't even move before the kick! Best advice to a keeper today seems to be to stand still. -
No need for 'have' in that sentence.

He must be quite a contortionist - typing while his c*ck is in his mouth.

I don't think there's any need to call him an aerosol, that should be reserved for that fookin aerosol, Lovren.

You are talking about English players, yes?

Post-Match Reaction: Chelsea 1-1 SAINTS
hughieslastminutegoal replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
They have, and it is a bit of a worry that we have no one else seeming to want to take them. Someone must be able to hit them better than Tadic did yesterday - fairly weakly straight down the middle and hit feet. A bit lucky really. -
Apparently some Vietnamese clubs are interested - they all put their Dongs on the table.

Why on earth would you want to be directed to an Echo? I have no interest whatsoever in who the latest personal assistant to the Port Authority's portacabin superintendant is. Or that no one was injured in a waste bin fire at the back of the shops in Warburton Road.
