Personally I think he did pretty much what the article says. It doesn't say he started the academy, but that we invested heavily in it while he was here - true enough. Since he left what has the academy achieved and who is responsible for that? He did play a huge part in saving the club and it was in very good shape when he left. So all in all a good job done. Kat has been quite a conservative owner since he left, a period of consolidation or marking time before the decline sets in? Who knows.

People go on about how many more chances we get but don't take - so the problem is with finishing not necessarily how we play. I think back to the days of Revie's Leeds, or Graham's Arsenal who many said were boring, but they took their chances. More chances taken would give us more confidence and probably improve the overall performance.

When I started watching, tackling was allowed. Over the top challenges were commonplace. Kicking through people by central defenders was normal. And there were no subs allowed. Then only one sub for injury only. So hardly surprising the game was slower. We all enjoyed watching the games, but at the expense of something like 40% of ex-pros becoming registered disabled.

Pelle plays for Italy in the Euros and gets an absurd deal to "play" in China. Fonte hung about for some more European footy exposure, got none so it's hardly surprising he now wants to "do a Pelle". No particular blame on either the club or the player. It's just life in this grotesque business.
