Top 5 best and worst player to play for saints in CCC
hughieslastminutegoal replied to Thedelldays's topic in The Saints
How dare you say that about Jan's first very own signing? It must have been a very good video, eh NickH?? Or was he not signed on the evidence of a video, but on Hockaday's recommendation, the guy previously responsible for coaching the youngsters in silky skills. -
You can see the paradox here, can't you?

Maybe he just doesn't know how to find them?

It's not self motivation its a lack of self discipline.

Remind me, how many good games has Morgan S actually played? So where is this "good football" you talk about actually played? Not up front; Not in defence; Without MS, not effectively in midfield; When MS plays, sometimes in midfield; Never when we are already behind We are making "flatter to deceive" an artform. The opposition must be be quaking in their boots. -
Is that how Pearson coached? Apart from seeing him kick a few water bottles on the touchline, what evidence do you have of that?

RF Webb and Sons - Lowe's company in trouble.

He probably had a little meeting with them to say that he's not letting them go because of the money, he just doesn't want to stand in their way... -
You got that dead right. Its the way sideways and backwards.

That indeed sums up the lack of any alternative way of playing. In any case, most teams have sussed it after half an hour whether they've watched us on telly or not.
-
Yes its a transfer window, you know the one you soak in water and slide it off onto a wall to give the impression of a window. Rather like some of our signings lately give the impression of being footballers.

I don't really understand your point. Before internet forums, when people got together down the pub and talk about football, are you saying they never criticised and pontificated, slagged players off, argued that the manager should be sacked? That's been the case ever since there has been professional football; it's a large part of why people are interested in it; why their club is important. So why on earth should an internet forum be any different? If you were criticising the barracking of young players during the match, I'd maybe agree with you, but getting all huffy about points of view on a forum like this is being just a bit silly. And the real point is this: If you accept that barracking poor performance during/at the end of the match is a no-no, then when the hell are you allowed to criticise, say what you think should be done, who should be sacked, transferred, appointed, blah blah? Or are we all supposed to sit around telling each other that the emperor's new suit is just fine, and the material is the best considering the court coffers are empty? No dissenting voices allowed?

NO! A dung beetle crawls over some sh*t, rolls bits of it up into little balls, and pulls them into holes in the ground, where it gets converted into juicy nitrogenous fertilizer. So, a dung beetle takes some crap, and turns it into something pretty useful. RL on the other hand......... a) does it the other way around? b) hawks it around the trying to sell it all to bigger beetles? c) gets advice on the best shape of the ball for his hole from a rugby player?

Paul Bennett. Not the most gifted of centre backs, but quietly just got on with it in his uncompromising way. We could do with someone like him now (though I'm not sure how long he'd stay on the pitch in these "2 yellows and yer off" days.

Most sensible people don't put believing in purveyers of second rate football above everything else in the world, nor do they feel any shame in not doing so. You super-fans had better get use to the fact that SCC crowds are down to 14k from 30k i.e. 16k down since Premiership days. Not all those were season ticket holders, so that missing 16k represents probably 30k (or more) fans who used to come "quite often". These 30k 'fans' are precisely the ones the club HAS to begin re-attracting, and it is utterly facile to suggest they should feel shame in making their own choice about what they feel it is worth spending their own money on. But if you want picures of teenage footballers on your bedroom wall, feel free to get out your prayer mat and worship the god of GFCOOP - "Getting Football Completely Out Of Proportion".

Now I know what Eddie Large is doing without Sid Little. Thought he was crap then as well.

Enough people have pointed out the difference between playing home and playing away. The opposition play differently. We however play exactly the same both home and away. The manager needs to learn this, but he shows no sign of doing so. It isn't just a case that we are great, but the strikers can't score at home.

It translates as "We've told clubs that anyone's for sale, make a decent offer, and we'll tell the player quietly that "we would really like to keep you" and then in a louder voice "BUT THIS IS A FANTASTIC OPPORTUNITY FOR YOU AND WE WON'T STAND IN YOR WAY IF YOU AGREE IT WOULD BE A GREAT, NAY TREMENDOUSLY LUCRATIVE, MOVE FOR YOU," followed by a press-released "it's not about the finance, it's what the player wanted".

Forget all that stuff, we want the Council to borrow £30m to buy a stadium. After all it is the public sector's job to bail out the private sector when the private sector screws it all up.

Saints Greatest XI - Best Centre Backs Poll
hughieslastminutegoal replied to St Landrew's topic in Golden Posts
I always thought Chivs was better as second striker, rather than the out and out target man, but Spurs thought otherwise, though I don't think he really liked playing the no.9 position, unike Ron who was the archetypal no9. I think he looked the real deal when he first came into the side alongside Ripper Kirby, his shooting was dangerous coming from just a little further back. -
"Come on you Greys" ...worryingly most famously used by the Scots Greys galloping down the valley of death at the Charge of the Light Brigade.

Reminds me of MLT's last season or two. Get to a certain age, get an injury, have a layoff, then it's a succession of injuries every time you stretch yourself. What kind of contract does he have now? I bet it isn't pay-as-you-play any more.

It is a plc. It is not the club it used to be. And I can't see anything that smacks of a concerted effort to make it the heart and soul of the community. I can be accused of hankering after the past, after the days when I felt I was supporting a club that existed because it felt itself to be the heart and soul of the community, when the directors were not there to aggrandise themselves and make themselves a grubby buck. But we now have an industry that is just money oriented, and is only interested in fans in so far as they buy tickets and merchandise. You say the club is meant to be the heart and soul of the community. You tell me exactly how this club enthusiastically opens its arms to fans beyond the 120 minutes they are in the ground on match days.

You have no right whatsoever to expect a previous customer to carry on being a customer just because it suits you, just because you want to carry on being able to go. Nor do you have the right to tell other customers that they should buy the product because you think the quality is good enough. This is exactly what Lowe thinks fans should be doing, that somehow once a fan always a fan, and whatever the quality of the product on offer, and however he talks to his customers, we somehow must carry on being customers, that it's our duty to do so. Every individual fan has the right to buy or not to buy, and to comment on the quality. Disagree with their view of the product's quality if you like, disagree with their view of the quality of all-round service or business direction, but don't tell them that they have an obligation to buy what is on offer.

I basketball, its part of the game to sucker the opposition into "fouls" which were completely unintentional, and barely detectable. The football equivalent is falling over in the penalty area at any tackle. Just accept it as part of the game. Referees, wise up to it, and penalise faking with yellows, or a red if a player does it twice.
-
Why Lowe? Why not Crouch, who actually has more shares, and presumably more interest in Saints? In administration, the people who offer the best deal to the Administrator get the business. Do you really believe that Lowe would offer that? I don't, and that's why he will fight tooth and nail to avoid Administration. We might not like what he does to avoid it though.

Is it selfish stay-away MFI customers who have enforced administration on other MFI customers who wanted to buy a kitchen? Do inhabitants of the Southampton area have a duty, an obligation, to carry on paying for a product they don't much want, from a company they don't much like, just so other football fans can continue to get what they want, just because they want it?
