A Mac will last longer than the support Apple will give it when it inevitably becomes obsolete. I have an 11 year old Powerbook G4 which is still perfectly fine for browsing the web. Anything else - forget it. My advice would be to wait for whatever is going to replace the Macbook (it can't be long - it's pretty long in the tooth) and buy that. Until then, stick with what you've got.
