It's called received wisdom. A lot of football 'experts' suffer from this, usually the less intelligent ones. Merson a case in point. Gary Neville doesn't though thank goodness.

Don't try gradually cutting down, it won't work. I gave up 25 years ago - went from 20 a day to zero overnight. The first 2-3 weeks are hell - you won't think of anything else, but if you make it through it gets easier and you know that if you crack you'll have to suffer that 2-3 weeks next time you try. Oh and put the money you WOULD HAVE spent on fags in a piggy bank every day, then in a few months time treat yourself to something you wouldn't have bought anyway as a reward. Worked for me - good luck!

I spotted Gareth Bale in 2012.

Ended 3-3. With another injury time penalty which affects the result. As I commented on another thread somewhere - seems to be the fashion this season, Premier League referees like to get noticed. I see Kevin Friend refereed this match, nuff said!

Isn't all this historical points scoring a little irrelevant? What really matters is that now (17/11/13) we sit 80 places above them with arguably one of the best run clubs in the country. And they are a laughing stock - with their dive into obscurity unmatched in recent football history. That's the history that really counts

Maybe we could let them have Gazzaniga as part of the deal then

It wouldn't surprise me if they made a move for Asmir Begovic (forgiving the skate connection). He has developed into a top keeper and the way he conducted himself after the recent match against Stoke won't have gone unnoticed by the powers that be at St. Marys. Stoke have Butland waiting in the wings and could be persuaded to sell if the offer was big enough. Boruc would then be our bench-warmer (but what a keeper to have in reserve!). Makes sense to me - awaiting flak.

The suggestion seemed to be a big joke. We shall see.

Seems to be the fashion this season to award controversial penalties deep into injury time - only when they affect the result, mind. Gives the referees concerned more celebrity status.

Phil's link is inviting me to befriend a "buddy" (an older lady judging from the pic - she also seems to have a limited wardrobe) Apparently there are other photos to peruse. Can't get the football though.

There were quite a few girls named Candida a few years ago, which sounds lovely. I suppose their parents didn't realise that Candida Albicans is actually a nasty yeast infection of the c*nt.

Ten minutes on Google when this Russian gangster turned up could have saved Reading the inevitable grief the are now staring in the face. I've no doubt Madejski knew but was swayed by the cash on offer - it now looks as if he's going to settle for half. Feel free to substitute the words 'Reading' and 'Madejski' in the above statement to fit situations elsewhere.

Larrana Diassa LOL A plucky second to bottom by the Pompey mastermind. Does he get relegated?

I 4-1 am loving this.

3-1 Oh dear.

Because they are a bogey side - have never been confident when playing Bristol City, and they have always been underdogs. OK MLG, answer the question - the last time we beat Bristol City was when?
-
Theories in football have a nasty habit of coming unstuck.

Pochettino in underestimating opposition shocker. They should be going for this - chance for european football next season. When was the last time we beat Bristol City? I can't remember.

Presumably to stop people watching for free.
