Not directly related to saints but saw this piece on over priced players in the latest transfer window and thought it was interesting. Everton overpaid Crystal Palace for Yannick Bolasie by £19m, CIES study claims http://www.msn.com/en-gb/sport/football/everton-overpaid-crystal-palace-for-yannick-bolasie-by-%C2%A319m-cies-study-claims/ar-AAiwfYp?li=AA572I&ocid=spartandhp

Pretty much. Even his goal should have been saved really. I was looking forward to a new England Manager but that was pretty much "meet the new boss same as the old boss". Really English players are just horribly overhyped and no where near as good as they, or the press, like to think.

Mane injured again http://www.caughtoffside.com/2016/09/04/liverpool-injury-news-reds-given-another-scare-as-30m-man-withdrawn-on-international-duty/

You have to put that into the context of where our players are going Liverpool, spurs, Arsenal and Man U are all teams players would find it easy to leave saints for. The time to worry is when players want to go to Palace, westbrom and Stoke rather than stay at saints...

Personally think we've missed a really accomplished finisher for a while (JRod before his injury maybe or Lambert in the championship season) I had high hopes that Austin was going to be the answer but as yet that hasn't happened. It feels like the last few seasons we've had to create a lot of chances to actually score and our chance to conversion ratio has been quite low (no doubt someone will now produce stats to show that is not the case). Those stats say to me that it is business as usual for saints (create a decent amount of chances don't put enough of them away) as has been the case for the last few seasons.

I'd be very surprised if Sissoko had the sort of work rate that poch demands from his players he has spent several seasons at Newcastle barely bothering to turn up while telling everyone he is good enough for the CL.
-
So bearing that in mind would be easy to improve our squad and still do worse than last season....
-
So much for Sissoko saying he wants to play CL football. I guess its a step up from Newcastle but I doubt he'll put much effort in while he waits for his CL move.
-
Two....we didn't actually turn up for the other two...

This. Considering how many awful owners there are in English football I think ours is bloody good which is why it always leaves me bemused by the criticism the owner gets at times.

I'm sure I read that the black box process involves Les and the manager deciding what the squad needs position wise. Then the black box provides the name and details of half dozen players in that position that suit and then the manger tells Les which of those options he prefers. It is possible a manager will be attracted to players he knows of his own nationality it's also possible the whole thing is a load of bollix and the manger just tells the club who he wants...most likely it's somewhere in between.

He seems to live off a reputation built on the odd good performance every bluemoon followed by loads of time in the treatment room and bucket load of bang average performances. A decent player who is massively overhyped. He also seems like a bit of a tit if I'm honest.
-
you called him on it and were wrong....

They couldn't give Baines away...

Still a chance on goal though some players are very good with long range shots we haven't had a player like that in a while. The only two long range rockets we've scored recently that stick in my mind is Martina and Clyne (both against arsenal weirdly)

I'll admit I know next nothing about this bloke other than people on here say he is good and he probably won't play until October. So I'll wait to see him play a few times before I decide on weather this is a good or bad signing.
-
wouldn't that be like having 3 creators in one team. My impression from the early season games is we need a finisher (56 attempts on goal and only two goals scored) we are making chances but aren't being very clinical in front of goal.

How the hell did it cost him his job he was offered a new contract that would of made him the best paid saints manager in the clubs history he instead chose another contract that was even better paid than that. I haven't seen one person suggest that being poor now will result in all being well later but equally a new manager with some new players having some early season poor games (which weren't any more poor as the first three fixtures last season) doesn't mean it's going to be a poor season either. Those pointing out our poor start last season are merely pointing out that three games into the season is way to early to making a judgement either way....
