Saints beat Sparta 3-0: Post-Match Ecstasy
doddisalegend replied to Hamilton Saint's topic in The Saints
Has anyone seen any post match comments from the Sparta side? Normally I find it interesting to see what the opposition have to say about games against us but I've not found anything from the opposition manager or players online. -
BBC build up http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/37331445 interesting stat I thought ◾Only Chelsea (seven) have allowed their opponents fewer shots on target than Southampton (10) in the first four matches of the season, but Saints have conceded six goals. We've allowed the opposition only 10 shots on goal but let in 6 goals (of course three of those have been pens). that stat kind of gives me hope that if we can cut out giving away pens we should be pretty hard to beat.

Yoshida had a very good game never realised how quick he is. If he could just cut out the mandatory ****ty back pass he feels compelled to make every game he'd be starting more often. He actually looked better tonight than Fonte has managed to do so far this season. -
? lol that's not even subtle .....

Pelle Set to Leave For China - Telegraph
doddisalegend replied to Guided Missile's topic in The Saints
what the hell was he expecting. I'd have thought he would be a standout player in china racking up a decent number of goals...I take it he isn't. -
I tried to erase Dean Wilkins small but terrible tenure from my mind. People banging on about our games against Sunderland and Watford being awful ( worst they've ever seen according to some on here) clearly weren't there to see us smashed at home by Rochdale and Swindon. Its amazing how far we've come since the take over. T in some ways its worked against the club who now seem to have loads of fans with massive expectations and zero patience.

Exactly I could imagine the sort of meltdown on here if the club bought in the sort of players who would be happy to stay saints all their career. I'm sure the likes of Billy Sharp, Dean Hammond, Dan Harding would have happily played for saints in the PL on nice long contracts. If players are happy to stay at saints for a long time it will be because they aren't good enough to get interest from bigger clubs.
-
I'll go with this....
-
weirdly your post count on here seems to have shot up since you lost interest in saints .....
-
But all the teams not in the uber league would be in the same boat so it wouldn't be an issue. Basically it would be a more even playing field than the PL today more like the championship which would be fine by me.

We offered Koeman the best contract ever offered to a saints manager and he told us to **** off he didn't have the balls to commit long term to us much easier to go to an Everton side which could be improved with minimal effort.
-
It doesn't if the owners are willing to pay the fines and deal with the (not particularly scary) sanctions
-
Except that its a very debatable penalty and even if it wasn't the officials should have already blown the whistle for a clear foul on Long, a player down with a head injury and a player offside interfering with play all of which happened in the seconds leading up to the incident with Fonte but were mysteriously all unseen by the officials...

SMS is switching to nuclear power.....

On the other hand we should never have lost it either and the Ref cost us a draw. It was a pretty even game both sides had good and bad periods a draw was the right result sadly the ref had other ideas
-
Can't agree if you are going to style yourself a set piece specialist you need to be doing better than he is. No one is suggesting every dead ball should result in goal but he should certainly be offering more than one goal ...well just one goal ever from direct free kicks. He is hardly in the same class as Payet, Sigurdsson or even Lambert back in the day.

Interview with Romeu. Makes it sound like the players are enjoying the challenge. "Everyone is enjoying training and learning the new system under the manager. It was always going to take time to adapt to a different way of playing but with every game and every training session, our understanding and experience of that system improves.” http://soccer.nbcsports.com/tag/southampton/ -

Redmond dropped in there late against Sunderland after Tadic came off and looked very good by far his best spell in the games I've seen. I'd be tempted to try him there with Long and Jrod as the two strikers. -
Personally I'm not convinced by his free kicks how many of them have actually ended in a goal for Saints? One against westbrom iirc any others? It seems that JWPs free kicks rather flatter to deceive they look nice but rarely achieve anything.

An assist for Long and an assist and goal for Tadic might be good for both of them though.
