  1. God I wish my nippers tyro league games were like that
  2. Bought tickets for me and nipper £7.00.... bargain. Shame all the under 18 games aren't played at SMS 1st team games are so expensive these day happily pay £7.00 to watch the youth team every week.
  3. Killer for Fonte Pahars for J-rod Matty for JWP (yes he would be **** at the high pressing game but he'd score enough goals to make it worth it) http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-fp5e9JmS1wg/Te0G2p41bzI/AAAAAAAAFsU/GHYgMmZ2h9g/s1600/Ginger01.jpg http://news.bbcimg.co.uk/media/images/69701000/jpg/_69701624_marianpahars.jpg http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-4qzMg3Jc0oo/T4BZvjStdQI/AAAAAAAAADI/6lxvZTV0r90/s1600/Matthew-Le-Tissier.jpg
  4. BBC ratings for the match Adam comes out with the highest mark out of 10 (with a 7) of the whole squad http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24966559
  5. That's why I think Lambert is a good fit for England playing as a number nine leading the line and bringing others into play Rooney doesn't, IMO, do that very well. England never had someone holding the ball up for the (lets face it pretty pedestrian)midfield and wide men to join the attack tonight. Adam and Rooney playing off Lambert would be quite good I reckon.
  6. I can't help thinking Adam and J-rod were saying to themselves "****ing hell can't wait to get back to a team that can actually play" . England couldn't pass or hold on to the ball to save their lives. It must be quite hard to shine when you come from a team that press as a group, control the game for long periods and can pass a ball to playing for England.... I'm starting to think I'd rather our players weren't near the England squad which probably doesn't help their game at all I think Adam might get another shot but I doubt Jrod will get another go (though I was surprised he was called up in the first place if I'm honest)
  7. Scoring against the "argies" might not be a good move considering who his club manager is.....
  8. Not when we lift the FA cup at Wembley having beaten Man U 5-4 in the final I won't .....I'd love to win the FA cup more than finishing 7th
  9. yep we don't have the squad depth to compete for a top four finish IMO. Top ten finish and taking some scalps off the big boys will be a good season I reckon.
  10. This is the closet we might get to a local Hampshire derby for decades... I'd go if tickets were available
  11. What just like Lovren who came in and started performing from day one. I'm sure we could name lots of players with the same/similar criteria who have performed for saints. Gaston has had plenty of chances and not really taken them IMO
  12. Apparently we are some where between a really good team:) and the poorest team to play at the Britannia Stadium this season http://oatcakefanzine.proboards.com/thread/221969/christ-good
  13. A decent point, considering the nightmare start, in awful conditions. We were the better team (60% possession and more attempts on goal) and always looked more likely to win I thought. Think today goes to prove Gaston is not the answer to breaking down teams as has been suggested on here. Wouldn't mind trying Victor and Jack as the DM pair and pushing Morgan up pitch as an attacking option rather than Gaston. All in all decent point away from home.
  14. Excellent read. Hear everyone one of those phrases at my kids Tyro league games on a Sunday......and that's just from the parents.
  15. If I had my time again I wouldn't change anything. Not because I don't have regrets but because If I changed one thing it would have a knock on effect on the rest of my life and I wouldn't be were I am now the thought of not having my wife and kids in my life is not one I want. Having got that out the way I do wish I had got around to seeing Iron Maiden perform live just once.
  16. Wasn't Pulis touting himself as ready for a return to management a few weeks ago? Maybe he could give them the Stoke treatment not pretty but might keep Palace up. Don't really have anything against Palace I wouldn't mind them staying up......... though on current form they'll be relegated by Christmas.
  17. He was in my daughters school the other day talking about his career as a footballer and pushing the Matt le Tissier football academy apparently
  18. Got to love this bit Rickie Lambert provides Pochettino with the luxury of a player capable of merging the role of attacking midfielder and striker into one package. His job as an ‘out-ball’ (as highlighted above) is one typically assigned to a striker, but at the same time, Lambert’s excellent link-up play and good technique show characteristics normally associated with a midfielder (at least in English football). In a way, his job in Pochettino’s set-up at Southampton is similar to the one played by Sergio Garcia at Espanyol, who would often play to the right of Osvaldo, and mixed the characteristics of a centre-forward with the creative play of a winger or midfielder.
  19. is it? Or is it more to do with having a settled keeper in great form and finally having a decent PL CB in Lovern rather than calamity Jos. The amount of goals we shipped dropped rapidly last season once Cork got regular games. Still think that while Victor is a good tough tackling unit he gives the ball away far to cheaply with sloppy passing.
  20. Think Jack is a class act myself I figured him as a future England player . I can't really understand what he has done to get side lined this season. I'm really not convinced Wanyama is a massive improvement on Jack more of a unit, certainaly, but that is IMO cancelled out by Jack being much more accomplished with the ball.
  21. Well I've discovered that my new found interest in England was basically down to Rickie playing. Without Lambert (or any saints player) playing I just don't feel invested in the national side. I thought at least I could watch Boruc play last night....... In fact the whole game was so exciting I missed most of the second half when I feel a sleep on the sofa.
  22. To quote Nigel Adkins "Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard" Gaston may have talent (though we've seen only brief glimpses of it IMO) but he lacks work rate and bottle which as others have said is the cornerstone of our current system. If Gaston had Steven Davis work rate he'd be an asset as it is when plays he just feels like a passanger in the team. Gaston is no MLT (though you suspect under MP MLT wouldn't get a game either)
  23. Well I gave up my ST when we reach the PL as the prices for me and the two kids rocketed. Last season I picked a few Cat C and league cup games because they were the cheapest. This season I've only done Palace (I wanted to do Swansea but it clashed with Nippers Tyro game so I chose Palace instead) Now nipper is a young adult at the tender age of 12 even a cat C game set me back 50+ quid not to mention travel, refreshments etc. I just can't justify the cost anymore even more so as I just don't find the games as entertaining or the atmosphere at SMS as much fun as I did in the lower leagues. All that means I'm a casual instead of a regular these days and I know I'm not the only one.
  24. under 21s squad England Under-21 squad: Bond (Watford), Butland (Barnsley, on loan from Stoke City), Long (Sheffield United); Dier (Sporting Lisbon), Jenkinson (Arsenal), Keane (Manchester United), Robinson (Blackpool, on loan from Liverpool), Shaw (Southampton), Stones (Everton); Carroll (QPR, on loan from Tottenham Hotspur), Chalobah (Nottingham Forest, on loan from Chelsea), Hughes (Derby County), Morrison (West Ham United), Ward-Prowse (Southampton); Ameobi (Newcastle United), Ince (Blackpool), Lingard (Birmingham City, on loan from Manchester United), Redmond (Norwich City), Sterling (Liverpool), Zaha (Manchester United); Berahino (West Bromwich Albion), Kane (Tottenham Hotspur), Ings (Burnley), Powell (Wigan Athletic, on loan from Manchester United). Is Clyne injured because I can't see why he'd be left out otherwise? TBH I have no idea who half the under 21s are who is a RB among the lot above? As for Rickie good for him I think once Roy got to see him close up and see Rickie's personality and ability he realised he was a good plan B. Not sure he will start more of a super sub (last throw of the dice) player....having said that the thought of Lambert playing the No.9 with Sturridge and Welbeck either side of him is quite good I reckon.
  25. I was stood next to an altercation (because someone was sitting in the wrong seats) between some saints fans were someone got a slap yesterday the stewards sorted it out and no one was ejected from the ground on that basis having a swig from an offered flask comes across as well over the top.
