  1. Actually I thought England played very much like the saints I watched last season IE play it out to a defender pass it around among the defence then get a defender to hoof it ...if the defender is unable to hoof it play it back to the keeper to hoof it. Despite finding Spain rather boring to watch they did play it out from the back the other night with some balls being quite happy to pass it in triangles around their own penalty box even under pressure before passing it into midfield.
  2. Agree with that................ add in seeing saints win a cup final at Wembley to. I loved that season the next two were great as well. For a few reasons I'm struggling to get excited about this up coming season I really can't see it being as fun as the last few seasons.
  3. This season I'll be In the garage with the radio or on the sofa with MOTD..
  4. That's far to sensible a post for this place...
  5. Each to their own you find spain exciting I don't..... rather we played like Germany myself..
  6. I Know japanese people are renowed for being short but 1.2mm come on.....
  7. I think people want to be entertained at the end of the day..if I look back at the euros the two matches I enjoyed watching the most England-Sweden and Germany- Poland not the best technical football by a long way but fun emotional roller coasts of games that were exciting to watch. Never got remotley excited watching Spain for all their obvoius technical ability.
  8. What about in reverse the number of people who had STs last season that won't see a league game live this season....
  9. They weren't the only ones who could have thought a game with four goals could be so ...meh
  10. Of course it works, any numb nuts can see that, that's why everyone wants to play that way ...****ing boring to watch though. Effective football isn't always the same as entertaining football ....
  11. yes Spanish football is the new black.... we can all look forward to ball achingly boring games of tip tappy ball possessoin playing 4-6-0 can't wait....
  12. Why do we have to stay in Southampton? The club is bigger than just one place loads of football money in Asia..... time to move the club to where the money is ...so I'm thinking New Delhi Saints
  13. ermm...well both Spain and us play with a football and have 11 players at the start of the game...thats about it really. I did think England playing with Carroll up front looked a bit like saints...except our players can read Lamberts flick ons and react to them and the England players seemed to make no effort to get to Carolls flick ons at all...
  14. NC is actually telling players we are going to compete with Citeh next season?....at least I think that's what the jumble of english words at the top was saying...
  15. Surely now we're in the PL it won't be long until saints start playing exhibition matches against the likes of barca in the far east every summer....
  16. True...though having just had to give up my ST I have the feeling I may crave actual live football. Nice though dodgy internet streams with plentiful adverts on my little computer screen are they aren't a great substitue for proper live footie.
  17. Is there no love for those classic 70/80s sci-fi Buck Rodgers
  18. He has kind of got a point though which one of these says for the "passion" more
  19. Thanks guys. Seems like I might try out a bit of non-league footie next season to supplement MoTD, saints cup games and radio solent commentry to get my football fix.
  20. It was a war nasty stuff happens the British Air staff hardly tried to hide the reason for their bombing. I always find it odd that as country we feel need the need to apoligize for things done in a war where far worse was done by many other nations is Europe (and asia). As a country we did what we felt we needed to do to win a terrible war. In hindsight it's easy to point out the mistakes but back in those dark days of the 1940s things probably looked a lot different than they do 65 years on. We did what we had to do and claiming the bombing was a waste of time...seems to me to diminsh the sacrfice made by those bomber crews ,my great uncle included, IMO of course. The purpose of the area bombardment of cities was laid out in a British Air Staff paper, dated September 23, 1941: "The ultimate aim of an attack on a town area is to break the morale of the population which occupies it. To ensure this, we must achieve two things: first, we must make the town physically uninhabitable and, secondly, we must make the people conscious of constant personal danger. The immediate aim, is therefore, twofold, namely, to produce (i) destruction and (ii) fear of death."[127]
  21. ..go and watch non-league footy rather than saints on a saturday? I mean I'm a saints fan through and through but I won't be able to afford to watch saints play as often in PL this season as I used to. I get the feeling that I'll really miss regular trips to the footy on a weekend. I see I can watch my local non league side for £16 for me and both kids so I'm thinking this might be a way to get a cheap football fix on a saturday afternoon clearly it's not going to be nearly as much fun as watching saints. Just wondering how many saints fans have a non-league side they go and watch (when saints are playing away for example) and just how bad is non-league footie?
  22. Not my misses she carries on until she makes herself really ill for a week...when taking a couple of days to get over it at the start of her illness would have allowed her to get over it much quicker. Apparently admitting to being ill is some kind of weakness..
  23. Well apparently Conservative Future is the Largest political youth group in the country with 15,000 members so some youngsters are going blue http://www.conservativefuture.com/
  24. Ah I still fondly remember the election of 1997 the University I work at was covered in Labour posters students cheering on Blair to victory... that same year labour abolished student grants, brought in the first £1000 tution fees and started forcing student loans on to students......hell of a way to pay back the young voters:lol:
