  1. We will get a proper welcome to the PL stuffing from citeh I reckon still this why the PL is so much fun. I would just like Lambert to score to set him on his way....
  2. In fairness this is the same citeh team that tonked Man U last season so even lots of very good signings might not save us from a tonking on Sunday. It's how we do againt the likes of Wigan and other bottom half clubs that we need to worry about.
  3. One game before most of our players start the biggest season of their lives ...I imagine they were more worried about picking up an injury in a nothing game a week before the proper stuff starts than winning a game that meant nothing...........or maybe they're just lazy usless bastards...
  4. Does anybody actually expect us to beat Citeh really?
  5. You really think if we stay up he won't be poached? Same with Nigel this will be his last season with us IMO if we get relegated (or even look like getting relegated) he will be sacked if he does well some big team will take him off us just like Norwich and Swansea... If we go back down we will have some nice big parachute payments plus money from the sale of our best players and little or no debt. So we can just buy up the best of the champ and league 1 and bounce straight back...IMO of course
  6. It's hard to know what the budget was/is. I mean we finished last season debt free (not many clubs can claim that) the PL is worth what? 60 million? and we ramped up ticket prices. Naturally the players wages no doubt shot up (plus all the promotion bonuses) but you'd like to think the kitty was a little more than the cost of J-rod........ but really who knows were the clubs money goes behind the scences maybe it's all being saved up to expand SMS;).
  7. This the PL is probably the most uncompetitive league in England...
  8. I'm well relaxed I'm not expecting much from this season if we survive relegation great if not the lower leagues are good fun and cheaper. Ticket pricing means I'm going from regularly attending (ST) to being a once in a while punter which quickly took alot of the gloss this season for me anyway. I think a lot of people are going to struggle to get used to being plucky little Southampton relegtion fodder again after a few seasons of being the team people wanted to beat fighting it out at the top of league. I'm pretty sure will get smashed a couple of times this season so even that won't upset me to much. Might as well relax and try and enjoy the (bumpy) ride. After all this is what everyone wanted to play with the big boys can't them complain when the big boys hurt you.......
  9. and the grandmothers next door neighbour now Ms Sharp's next-door neighbour Paul Meehan, 39, was later taken into custody on suspicion of assisting an offender.
  10. David Armstrong when I was a nipper (1982ish) my dad gave me a ball signed by David he won in a raffle. I don't really remember him as a player (though I think he was a bit Richard Chaplow in the hair department) but I chershied that football as a kid. It would kind of be nice to meet the guy who signed it.
  11. Actually I've said in prevoius topics on SDR that his team mates didn't want to pass to him and never played the right sort of balls for him when they did. Half the time last season bring on SDR was like going down to 10 men instead of playing balls in so that SDR could run at tired defenders in the last 10-15 minutes of a game we'd resort to lumping it at Lambert.....Now having said that SDRs crossing is pretty dire.
  12. No Ian Harte was LB of the season 2009-2010 and our own Dan Harding was LB of the season the year we were promoted. Dickson has never been in the team of the season as far as I know.
  13. I'll be sad to see Barney go ...always worked hard scoed some inportant goals always looked like he enjoyed being a saint. Jonno quick had those two goals against MK.....but in truth was an odd signing that never really achieved anything Dickson was never good enough even in league 1.
  14. Well this is an orginal post.....
  15. From the BBC http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-19077439 Palm trees used to grow in Antarctic The study in Nature suggests Antarctic winter temperatures exceeded 10C, while summers may have reached 25C. The early Eocene was a period of atmospheric CO2 concentrations higher than the current 390 parts per million (ppm )- reaching at least 600ppm and possibly far higher. Global temperatures were on the order of 5C higher, and there was no sharp divide in temperature between the poles and the equator. All without a human on the planet goes to show there is nothing new under the sun....
  16. No the chippy was the blue dolphin now a posh cake shop. The India Arms was the one next to the bus station ..the Ship was a bit further down opposite the Alfred the Great statue. The India arms had the slightly dodgy reputation so no doubt that was the one run by the skate
  17. LOL sounds like my old boss...winchester does have more than it's fair share of academics..thanks to the boys school and university most of who seem to think they're a character in an inspector Morse/Lewis story..
  18. No idea haven't been on the serious **** in Winchester since the late 90s mostly the odd pint in the county arms these days as it's close to work. Wasn't the place opposite called the ship? Only remember ever going in there once used to prefer the Rising Sun on the corner of Chesil street.
  19. The Artic circle will be the next generations battleground The Russians amd Americans (not to mention Canada, Norway, Finland, Sweden and Denmark) know or (suspect) there is a shed load of energy potential under the icecaps that, if they melt, will go to who ever can control those areas the Russians have already tried to lay claim to big parts off it a nice big modern navy will help them back up that claim.
  20. Use to love a good night in the Vine nothing like going out in the middle of winter to **** out a few pints in a frezzing cold shed pretending to be the toilets. Louisianas was a bit of a dive in my day the Gulidhall tavern was much prefered. Don't really go out drinking much these days but the Royal Oak was/is alright and I got food poisoning from the Exchange years ago:lol:
  21. I think football should be in the olympics and we should have a team GB....However I think all the olympic teams should be from the respective countries non-league sides..making it an amatuer event (though I know lots of UK non-league players at the top end are probably bordering on full time professionals these days).
  22. Sorry show me were Delldays (or anybody else) is bed wetting ....All DDs said was the defence needs work and you jumped on him. Not everybody has time to read every f ucking saints interview. As for leaving it to the manager stop being a cock the whole point of a forum is discuss and put forward a point of view it's not like Delldays (or anybody else) is phoning Nigel up and telling him to sort out the defence...
  23. I believe the point he is making is becuase NA has said he is looking for a CB, an interview we might not have all read, that means we are not allowed to mention that the current defence might not be up to the rigours of the PL:rolleyes:
  24. I thought it would be clear to anyone watching yesterday the defence needs strengthening.
  25. Well age is on J-rods side Rickie is getting on a bit (for a football)...still think Rickie will be a big part of the team this season though.
