Sounds like Barney is well involved ...hasn't scored any goals but sounds like he is giving the skate's mercenaries a good kicking:lol:
-
I see one of the players that can't afford has scored ....f ucking Joke

Bournemouth must be spitting bullets considering how severly they were punished when they went in to admin...they had every right to be expecting the sort of team plymouth had to play they other night instead they find themself playing what sounds like quite a respectable league 1 side....who by the sound of Solent are giving Bournemouth a bit of a battering in the opening miniutes.

Lee Barnard to Bournemouth on loan - Confirmed

That's an excellent signing for Bournemouth. Good Luck Barney. -
Interesting article (IMO) on the BBC should footballers be more like the members of team GB? The achievements of Team GB at the Olympics have led to a wave of criticism of footballers. They've been lambasted for being overpaid, arrogant underachievers. But why do some people hate footballers so much? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-19281103

I thought he did quite well when he went to Notts county on loan end of last season? I'm guessing not well enough if he's going elsewhere. Still while not the most gifted player you'd think he'd be a useful adittion to a lot of league 1 or 2 teams. I wouldn't of thought we'd be asking a lot ofmoney for him. Lets hope he does well and the loan becomes something more long term for him.

I quite enjoyed Mick McCarthy's commentry during the Euros just says it how he sees it which was quite ammusing....as for Redknapp hardly a surprise given he has always been a rent a comment for the media.

What would be an acceptable score on Monday

Just like the good old days...this feels much more natural than the last few seasons with talk of promotion, 2pts a game averages, expecting to win and feeling a draw was a s hit result. This is much more like supporting saints in the old days with all this talk of how many goals can we keep the opposition down to, avoiding relegation and lets hope we get just over a point a game.... For what it's worth I can see losing 3 - something.... I reckon we've got a goal (or two) in us I just think we will leak like a sieve at the back. -
Say what? I'm glad you knew I had to wait until April to find out we were promoted. Also I reckon we signed Sharp to get over the line (which he duly helped us do) not becuase we thought he was PL star in the making. Jos was just a formalilty after his loan, Lee was an interesting signing but we can't be sure of his PL credentials yet.

I wonder how many of those signings were regularly involved for Norwich and Swansea last season (I have no idea)? How important where the players they already had? I mean if Swansea signed 11 players but played say 9 guys from the season before regularly and only 2 of the new signings regularly then the number of signings isn't that important.
-
Personally well happy with this think he is a great player and fits the mould of the sort of players we try to sign these days . Mind you I never expected us to sign loads of PL veterans and current internationals so maybe my expectations were a lot lower than others. On the plus side if we get relegated we will have one great Championship team next season...hell might even win it next time round
-
I'm sure the massive ****ing PL wage packet will quickly help them to get over it.......
-
Was I the only one expecting us to sign up and coming young players most likely from the lower leagues then? Where people really expecting a load of expensive stars with a wealth of PL experince? If they were where did they get that idea from? We seem to have signed the sort of players I was expecting (though I was expecting at least one of Blackpool's wingers if I'm honest) the only thing we're missing is the unkown foregin player that comes out of nowhere to give the SMS faithful someone to get annoyed about ...though SDR and Guly are still at the club so There is probably less need this season
-
Jesus I'm a boring git. No playmates of the year snorting lines of coke off my hard on for me. Nice house , box at SMS, retire and enjoy the rest of my kids childhood doing mundane sh it like taking them to school and going to class assemblies (all the stuff I miss by working for a living). Plenty of nice family holidays probably find some boring old man hobbies like making ships in bottle or some sh it.

Quite frankly any manager who needs an open cheque book to get results was totally the wrong sort of manager for saints during the Lowe years 'Arry was never going to be able to work under the sort of budget Lowe would spend.
-
When Pardew was sacked I seem to recall the club said the whole point of Les Reed and the committee was to have a team that any manager could take over. So the players bought aren't suppossed to be tied to one manager thus a new manager would be expected to work with the players he has rather than bringing in new players. Nigel turnned us round when he first arrived without bringing in any new faces straight away.

Total Football;)

I've already said I reckon this will be Nigels last season with us if he does well he'll be gone (to a bigger established PL team) if he doesn't do well NC will wield the axe. After all last time NC sacked the manager things worked out very well...............and then their was that interview the day we got promoted:suspicious:
-
Reckon that saints team would make a decent league 1 outfit surprised the likes of Butterfield , Dickson and Barnard haven't found a team yet even Forte could do a job for someone in league 1.
-
Last time we were relegated from the PL I thought it was a diastaster in fairness I hadn't really known saints before the (div1/PL) so I was a bit ignorant of the lower leagues. Now I realize that, at least for me, the lower leagues can be good fun. I just want to be able to go a watch saints play a decent match of football, for a reasonable cost on a saturday afternoon........so if anything the lower leagues are better in that respect than the PL for me. Still I'm sure it will feel pretty good if we manage to get one over on one of the big boys and if we lose to a big team it probably won't hurt as much as having the double done over us by Rochdale..... Either way I'm probably less bothered about this season than I have been about the last few.

Is It The Southampton Way or the highway For Nigel Adkins?
doddisalegend replied to BILLY's topic in The Saints
No but it has been one of the most enjoyable teams I've watched. I blame all the noises coming from the club on the back of the last few seasons feel good factor which has left a section of the fan base getting all wet at the thought of saints hammering european teams in the CL in front of 60,000 capicity crowd at the new super duper SMS..... -
I've only seen one pre-seaon game and that was Ajax when Frank de Boer picked out Adam as our best player. Though from what I can make out from this place (I might be wrong) Adam has been playing a more central role in midfield rather than out on the left as he has done for most of the last three seasons so that might explain why he is looking less than great (if indeed that is the case) maybe he is still getting to grips with his new postion?

Reckonn Norwich thought same about Lambert and Swansea thought the same about Rodgers. If Nigel proves himself good enough for the PL plenty of bigger clubs will be interested in any upcoming English manager IMO of course -

Chances are Nigel will be gone after this season anyway. If he does well he'll get pinched by a bigger club ( just like Norwich and Swansea) if he doesn't do well NC will no doubt wield the axe anyway......either way I can't see Nigel being here next season.
