This. 4 points from today and Exeter was what I thought we would get .... and IMHO will be enough for us to get automatic.
-
That was a mistake. They have fallen 50% today.

Not getting defensive. I sit in the Chapel and thought that we out sung them. Didn't you hear "Walking in a Liebher wonderland"? I do not disagree with your point that fragmenting the fans is just crazy.

There is a world of difference about being an exiled Saint and a ManU supporter with no connection to the place. Such Man U supporters deserve contempt. The exiled Manc tends to be a glory hunter. They support "their" team because they like winning. They expect to win and are attracted to the team because they often do win. The exiled Saint tends to have a connection with the area. No glory hunter would support Saints!! The exiled Saint has a hard time supporting his team. Ask my son what it has been like in the playground if you support Saints and live 85 miles away from the place. At times even the teachers have queued up to take the p***.

With all due respect, I would suggest that you get a hearing test next week. Man U fans started to sing after the second goal - hence the chant of you only sing when you are winning. Before then they had been pretty quiet from where I sat. ... and isn't " there's only one Markus Liebher // walking in a Liebher wonderland" about Markus Liebher?? I certainly heard that during the first half.

But what will happen if he refuses to go? As absurd as it sounds, can Premier League Blackpool match the wage he is getting at pompey?? Why not stay there for another 6 months, pick up his weekly wedge (plus image rights of course) & then negotitate a good deal as a free agent in the summer.

I agree entirely.... and on a related point I thought that Richardson yesterday was very strong defensively. His distribution has rightly been criticised as poor yet some of his defensive tackles were top notch.

Do you ever feel sorry for the opposition..?

Compare that with how Manure fans started a countdown in our last few minutes in the Premiership. Lets hope they suffer on the 29th. -
Another new manager for one of our promotion rivals...

I know that I will be accused of arrogance, tempting fate etc etc but .... Who really cares what the other teams in our division do??? After last night and the progress that we are making under Adkins, it is clear that they are only squabbling over who will end up second to us ;-) ;-) -
So what is behind today's increase?

The last time that we played Man U in the cup a lot was made about the financial boost that we received. A full house, television dosh, full executive boxes, extra shop sales etc were all estimated to have been worth the best part of £1 million to us. Yet less than 3 months later we were in administration. Did the money from the cup tie delay administration for a month or so? Without it would we have gone into administration earlier - and avoided the 10 point penalty that proved so costly last year? We now have such a better team than 2 years ago. We are now so much stronger off the pitch. It is good to look back - if only to rejoice that the drk days are (currently) gone.

I suspect that we will be playing them again next season ..... maybe even again in 2011!!

I didn't hear that. But I did hear "you've got Brett Ormerod" LOL

Saints 2 - 0 Blackpool - Post match reaction
Tamesaint replied to Yorkshire Saint's topic in The Saints
The same thing happened last year when we knocked Ipswich out. We never got a mention when cup upsets were mentioned on the radio. In some strange way it is perhaps a bit of a compliment to us. We are still regarded as a bit of a big fish so the fact that we have beaten Blackpool does not register as a giant killing in the same was as another League 1 side beating a Premiership side does - such as Notts County beating Sunderland. I am not under any illusion - we are a League 1 side because that is where we deserve to be. However the instant reaction of your average football fan would be that of course Southampton should beat Blackpool. -
Couldn't agree more. Lowe gave a 5 year contract to Tommy Forecast . NC gives 4 and a half years to La God. Says it all really!!

If they do, they should be locked up!!

What fantastic news. I was never his greatest fan in our relegation season from the Championship, I thought he was overrated and did not think he contributed enough to justify his "freedom to roam role". Last year as the season progressed he seemed to improve and this year he has been simply outstanding. Comparisons with MLT are not too far fetched in my opinion and as fans we will be so lucky if he shows the same loyalty as MLT. This is just great news. 2 years ago, I was not his greatest fan ... but I probably am now.

This really makes for a good read. How the mighty have fallen in 2 and a half years!! Nice to know how Sasha got all that money. I thought that he was just his father's puppet. I had no idea that he actually earned it!!

Don't choose an individual share - that is too risky. Picking an individual share to do well and buying at the right time is like trying to catch a falling knife at the right time. Choose an area which you think you will do well and then invest in a fund in that area. Let the experts buy the shares and adjust the weightings. Put the fund into a ISA wrapper and you don't have to worry about Capital Gains. JPM Natural Resources is a fund that is growing fast. Anyone who wants to get into mining should buy into this fund. It has grown by 45% in the last 12 months and by 101% in the previous year. Junior Oils Trust invests in oil shares and has grown by 42% and 88% in the last 2 years. For your sake, I hope that the shares mentioned above do well. I think that the trust approach is much more reliable.

At Liverpool Uni in the late '70's there was a society formed called the Ashley Grimes society. It was basically a p*** take of a player with a funny name, carp haircut and who ran around a lot on the pitch without a clue as to what he was doing. One evening there was an Ashley Grimes society disco at a local nightclub.Ashley turned up along with a couple of mates - Tommy Sloan who won a few N Irish caps and Kevin Moran who went on to much better things. Ashley wanted to know where the drugs were. He was happy when a friend gave him a chewed up Players No 6. They were all a good laugh but the cocky bast**ds thought that I was funny 'cos I was a Saints fan!!! Steve Coppell also turned up. At the time he was a regular England player. Ashley didn't bring him but when asked how he had got in, he explained that he part owned he nightclub!! One of my housemates got rather drunk and fancied Steve Coppell's company for the night. She was pretty good looking and threw herself at him but Steve was a true gentleman. He politely turned her down but was very concerned that she got home safely.

I have received a letter at work today concerning a customer of ours who have entered creditors' voluntary liquidation. It is signed by the joint liquidator of this company .... Andrew Andronikou!! Is his autograph worth anything?? Could I flog it on ebay?? It makes you wonder how many other jobs he has on the go at any one time. Is moonlighting allowed when you are an administrator??
-
No - be nice to the fishy few at this season of goodwill. Mero is a poor Brummy who got lost once when he came south. He turned left instead of right, got in with a rough crowd and cannot escape. I am sure he is really a nice lad. Feel sorry for mac. He used to write good grammatical English. His spelling was excellent. Recently however its all gone haywire. It must be the strain of administration that is causing him to regress. Merry Christmas. I wonder where Pompey will be next Christmas.

Bradley Wright-Phillips at Sports Personality of the Year
Tamesaint replied to jawillwill's topic in The Saints
It was nice to see Theo but what exactly did he do?? With him turning up on stage and Ces also appearing I wondered if the plan was to ensure that the whole Arsenal squad had bit parts on the night. .... and another thing. How do you get a Lifetime Achievement Award at the age of 35?? -
Can you imagine how the media would salivate over a non league AFC Pompey?? They would have no fans and would play at H&W but TCWTB would be everywhere and the "gratest fans in the world" would be regarded as media heroes - all 3 of them!!

+1. Exactly what I was thinking..... mind you the first 4 in this list are way better than the next 4.
