Thanks Alpine. I am pleased that I am not the only one totally bemused by Warwick's logic.
-
Maybe... but Lowe was being paid handsomely at the time to make these decisions and he made the wrong one in this case. Beattie did leave - just 3 months after Sturrock.
-
I don't disagree with most of these but here's a new one. The daft decision to reduce players's pay by 50% once we were relegated. Our best chance of getting back up into the Premiership was in our first season down. Birmingham City have written the textbook on this one. What you need to do is to keep your squad together, strngthen one or two positions and then move back up. What did we do? We implemented this paycut and caused so many players to want to leave that there was no way that we had the teamspirit, the skill or the desire to get back up. By the end of the January transfer window that season we were back to square one and stood no chance of getting back up at the first attempt. Who implemeted this strategy .... guess who? Why ? To ensure that we did not suffer financially from relegation. Well that worked well didn't it.

Did the investment rumours kill off the fans?

Interesting post and I think you are right that this has been a factor. Compare the hope and joy that the initial Paul Allen takeover generated with the current prospect of " cheer on the yongsters when you can 'cos if they are any good they will be sold at the next transfer window." Without investment the future looks bleak. With investment a la Paul Allen it would have looked brilliant. -
I feel really ashamed to be British when you see how this country is treating retired Ghurkas. If they were born before 1997 they do not have an automatic right to live in this country. It is OK for them to fight for us. It is OK fior them to die for us (45,000 did in the 2 world wars) but until last week when the High Court announced that the Government had to change the law, it was unlawful for them to live here in retirement. The Government still has to announce what it is going to do but I would not be surprised if they try to wriggle out of giving them full rights. Not many political campaigns get me excited but this one does. Well played Joanna Lumley for standing up for them. Well done on starting a petition to get the injustice rectified.

Don't expect an answer from Sundunce. He cannot afford a fiver and he has had his 3 strikes today so he is out until tomorrow. :-)
-
Very true. His user name at his own website is "scooby@....."
-
I reckon that Chris is only creeping round Scooby 'cos he wants to appear in Scooby's next film.
-
Its quite easy to find him on the web. Coming from Salisbury he probably is a Saints fan rather than a skate so there's a theory gone. Interesting that one of his favourite films is "The Manchurian Candidate." Isn't that the one where a politician gets manipulated by ne'er too goods who brainwash him? Perhaps that is what is happening now and he is the mastermind behind "Lord Lowe".
-
No way. Andrew C is a far more intelligent, well rounded person than "one track" Andrew Scooby.
-
Apparently he was outed on here a couple of weeks ago. Andrew is his Christian name.
-
Don't show off Andrew - just because you now have another friend.
-
.. if only there had been a permanent shortage of tea in the world!! :-)
-
Come on then. Apologise in front of the whole class. Stop mumbling. Speak up. We cannot hear you.
-
Readers of the Asturius thread are expecting an apology from sundance before he writes much more on here.
-
Still bandying this rubbish about Sundance?? How come Newcastle had a gate of 20k on Wednesday night? If they are such great fans why didn't more of them turn up?? By your measurement that makes their ground just 35% full. They were playing Premiership opposition. .. and before you blather on about the Carling Cup being meaningless, we had a larger gate than that a couple of years ago when we played thirdtier opposition in the same competition. But then you never let facts get in the way of your bigoted opinions do you Sundance ???
-
What no apology yet??? Thats strange. He will probably be on his way to Donny now so you won't get one this morning.:-)
-
I am sure that he has composed an apology. The problem is that he can only get near the computer when his nurses have gone off duty.

Lazy journalism at the Echo just gets worse..

So we are now going to sue players who do not play well!! We all know Rupert's love for litigation and his endless stream of novel ideas but even by Rupert's standards the stupidity of this comment takes your breath away. Sundunce wants to get behind the team but then decides that any player who does not perform the way that he wants gets sued!! Hmmmm. He wants everyone to get behind the team ... but presumably not those who he considers to be a jerk. What happens if Euell or Scacel play in the first team. Should they be supported or are they jerks? I have a radical idea. If you are going to pay players like Scacel and Euell, why not play them when they are fit?? Stern John was one of the top scorers in the League last season. We are paying him so ... why not play him????? Who knows we might even start to win some matches!! -
Come on, come on. Get your facts right. Euell arrived here in September - not after January. All of the others you quote above were brought to the club by Pearson - not Burley. Perry came from a League One club who seem to have spent longer in administration that out of administration over the last few years. He was probably tempted by the thought of actually being paid!! Luketti and Wright only arrived 6 games before the end of the season. Removing Scacel and Rasiak from the wage bill in January would have been a much bigger saving than taking on the players you mentioned.
-
.... and there in a nutshell you can see why Sundunce is the saddest, most pilloried poster on this board. Facts - why let them get in the way of opinions? Insults - lets use them to abuse the wife a fellow fan. Bigotry - lets reveal that to the world. The funniest thing is that he only has 3 posts a day ... yet he still manages to get up the nose of so many posters. That takes true skill!! Imagine what would happen if he could afford a fiver and became a full member!!
-
I think you have lost my point. Sundunce keeps on blaming the Southampton fans for not havng the "passion" of the Newcastle fans - the same fans whose stadium was only 35% full last night. The club whose "passionate" fans numbered 12-15,000 fans the last time that they were in the second tier. At times like this the last thing that we should be doing is knocking our own fans.
-
"The passion of Nercastle fans" - do us a faviour Sundance. You can only write 3 posts a day and you fill the posts you write with c**p like that. Our crowds since Lowe got us relegated have been consistently higher than Newcastle's in the '90's when they were last in the second tier.FACT. Last night only 20,000 of these "passionate" fans could be bothered to get off their ar**s and watch their team play Premiership Tottenham. We got more than that a couple of seasons ago in the same competition when we played League 1 Yeovil. FACT Why don't you just admit it Sundance. Your hero Lowe is letting us down again. His mad cap idea of reliance on youth is destined for failure in the same way as his mad cap idea of appointing the England rugby coach failed. For some reason you are now blaming the fans (despite your protestations I do not think that you are a fan) when the truth is that Lowe is continuing to let us down. Blame him - not us!!

Probably Scooby - if not him Sundance Beast
