Or maybe repay the £300k payoff that you received when you left the club so that we could then afford the wages of Stern or Saga.

I am not sure that Crouch really saw his shares in Southampton as a money making acquisition. He is worth many millions & whilst I am sure that he would not be happy to lose money on them, he would see 24p as a price worth paying if the club prospered as a result.

Did anyone understand what JP was saying after the match??
Tamesaint replied to Tamesaint's topic in The Saints
Yes I have. Their English at times can be poor ... but there is never any difficulty in understanding what they are saying. Jan is in a league of his own in that respect. Have you ever heard Scolari, Benitez , Mourinho and the others you mention above refer regularly (over half a season) to "making a goal" when they mean score?? -

So why doesn't he make sense in his post match interviews?? -

My Dutch is poor. Completely non existent in fact. That is why I do not apply for jobs in Holland where I would be out of my depth. -

Why is this thread silly?? It is clear that JP's team are not playing the way that he wants them to play. His communication skills after the match are poor - his interviews ramble and I find it difficult to understand what he is trying to say. I very much doubt if the players understand him - which could explain our poor organisation on the field and the clueless nature of our play. Perhaps you can explain why this is silly??? -
Lets just hope we are not firmly ensconced there after 44 games!!

It is amazing that the football club chairman iis not even going to attend the AGM. The largest shareholder cannot een be bothered to attend !! says it all doesn't it???
-
If so, can you please tell me. I can workout what making a goal means. I can appreciate he says tink instead of think but how about the rest of his ramblings? Once you hae explained can you please also tell the players. Perhaps Rupert will check on a manager's ability to communicate effectively before he chooses a manager next time.

How about asking if Chris Iwelmo would like to play for us.

I have just got off the phone to a good mate of mine (no name ,no packdrill - lets just call him Scooby Sundance) and he has asked me to post the following .... Look , when we were relegated from the Premiership , it was nothing to do with Lowe. It was just our turn to get relegated. 3 clubs go down every year. It was just our turn. Nothing to do with appointing 3 managers in the season and diverting attention from the club to the radio station, the catering and the insurance services etc etc. If we get relegated this time , it will be nothing to do with Lowe. It was obvious to him, a man steeped in football , that Pearson would never make it as a manager. Why stick with someone like him who knows English football when there are plenty of Dutch non league managers around? What would someone like Pearson,a coach of the England under 21's team know about bringing on young players? How many World Cup finals has Pearson ever played in ?? Anyway who says that we will not anything?? Do you realise that if we go down we will stand a chance to be the first club to win the best catering award in 3 different divisions!!

After today ??? No way

I think the key word here is "been." Very strange isn't it how such a revolutionary thinker is no longer sitting on any of the FA boards. You would have thought that the FA would have jumped at the oportunity of having the services of such a person!! Perhaps they know something about him that you do not Nick. Maybe Rupert refused to serve on one of their boards. They probably don't pay enough for him. Or perhaps they refused to give him enough dosh when they got rid of him. I hear that £300k is his going rate.
-
Perhaps he won't be a shareholder by then?? Maybe he will have sold his holding. We can but hope!!

do we have the most financial restrictions..?

What ????? How do you know that Pulis and Gasmi will only get paid when they play? Are you the wages clerk at SFC ??? Gasmi appeared on the pitch last week wearing a Saints shirt but he didn't get involved. Did he even touch the ball? Will he get paid?? :-) If they are not getting paid what are they doing now? Claiming the dole? Begging the other players for odd jobs round their houses?? -
Andrew????

and Bodminsaint thinks your post is spot on !!! Amazing!!!

Do you reckon?? The best way to see if Sundance has changed will be to get Darren W to post. If it doesn't end in vitrolic abuse we will know that Sundance has turned over a new leaf!! ;-) :-)

Interesting view but I do not agree. When Pearson first arrived he did play the youth. Gillett for example had been at the club for several seasons and had only made one fleeting appearance as substitue under Strachan / Sturrock / Wigley / Redknapp / Burley. The first thing that Pearson did was to put him into the squad and he played several times under Pearson. A similar story applied to the likes of McGoldrick. Pearson stopped playing the youth after the defeat at Hull. Our backs were well up against the wall at that stage and he (rightly as it turned out) preferred to depend upon the experience of the likes of Lucketti, Wright and Perry. Blooding kids into the first team in August is one thing. Blooding them in the middle of a relegation battle with a handful of games left is a completely different scenario. I think Pearson's credentialsas Under 21 manager says a lot more about his ability with kids than making deductions from a relegation struggle. Nice to see the change in style Sundance.

It is a cause for concern if you spend time and money supporting your team on a cold winter's night, 70 miles from home. It was cold comfort walking back through the streets of Norwood last night to think "oh well , Palace are just a long ball team... we are a proper football team." To progress as a football club we need to win matches. We need to beat long ball teams. As far as I am aware there is no law of football which insists that you make 15 passes before getting the ball into the penalty area. If we happily accept defeats like last night's because Palace are a long ball team we might as well all give up.

He also made the common mistake of assuming that good players make good managers. Hurst & Peters scored 4 goals in a world cup final. They were rubbish managers. Moore captained a World Cup team. He was a poor manager. Bobby Charlton was the inspirational figure in a World Cup winning team. He couldn't hack it as a manager. The complaint against Poorteveilt is not that he was a good player. It is that he is an inexperienced manager who has spent his career scrambling around the fourth and fifth tiers of the Dutch league. After the abject failure of Wigley (and despite the attempt at rewriting history from Rinny and co you are 100 % certain of relegation if your chairman is so stupid as to have 3 managers before Xmas) you would have thought that Lowe would have thought twice about sacking an experienced guy for an untried noviice...but you clearly do not think twice. if you have an ego the size of Rupert's.
-
So who owns the most? Rupert with Lowe Holdings or Leon with his clutch of engineering businesses? Who is the more successful businessman?

I see we're going to get some cash from UEFA

and if it is Euros it will be worth even more as the pound plummets against the mighty Euro.
