Well played all round. Boruc may be getting a little too over-confident with his footballing skills in defence. Just needs to be careful. Lambert unlucky. Our half, but no goal. 2nd half we need to be more composed. KEEP YOUR COOL SAINTS AND PASS IT THROUGH THEM!!! The Hammers are trying to physically break us up in terms of tempo and in terms of mental strength. KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON!

I agree. What's more I suspect that clubs like Chelski will bend the rules by gifting players property and other perks instead to make up the shortfalls they'd expect by playing for the wealthier teams.

Jolly good! Love the pictures with the manager too!

Premier League bring in HawkEye for next season
SaintRobbie replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
I am disappointed. The reason? Football is a game played by humans. It is about the debate, the referees decision, the fans opinion, the managers view, the players passion. Introducing a VERY expensive system for a controversy that happens once in a blue moon and frankly takes away an element of the human part of the game is a great shame IMHO. I wish they'd spent the cash on youth development. Utterly pointless. Its a game of skill, teamwork of players and fans, Boardrooms and trainers, its a game of human endeavour and luck and controversy, not a game for robots. Waste of money and an erosion of sport. I hate it in Rugby and tennis, although I would suggest it does help in cricket to add to the tactical options! Football should be played as it is, with posts, a pitch, markings and a ball. AND HUMAN BEINGS. -

Well said. Too many short memories on this site sometimes. Always a hero. And while I'm at it people need to get off Ramirez's back - 22 and outstanding, he'll be a prize asset for us as he beds in to the Premier League. He's the type of player we need to reinforce with not lose patience with because of rumours of a move to Italy and a couple of under par performances. Jay Rod was also being slighted - now look at him! He's heading for an England cap!! I am quite content with MP over NA. Cortese is vindicated, it was the right decision. Saints go marching on. -
I don't know why, but I've always said that a red and white striped team either goes up or down from the Premier League when it matters... Who's it gonna be? Stoke or Sunderland? It aint gonna be Saints For me Villa's win is worse for Sunderland than for Stoke; in freefall with a manager who is attracting all the attention for being a Nazi and I believe will be sacked by the US owners as more fans use his appointment and politics as an excuse during the post relegation witch hunt. My predictions: Bottom 3: Sunderland QPR Reading

Keep making them Dalek - keep making them! Super result, another one of my predictions right! - Provides the evidence the Press needs to acknowledge Saints are not flooking wins but have a good manager and team. - Puts to bed the Adkins/MP debate - Sends Reading down and claws us back some North Hants fans to help push on with expansion. - Gives us another potential England man in J-Rod (we could see Lambert, Clyne, Shaw and J Rod in an England shirt soon) - Vindicates Cortese. We're going to be the Barcelona of English football. All we need now are red and white shirts back! Fantastic day - we are Premier League. AND STAYING THERE FOR MANY YEARS. -
We should win... but then we only beat big clubs.
-
Nope that is the best goal I've ever seen!

Reading beaten on SAturday by Saints should finally do it for them. QPR are finished IMHO. I think Sunderland will go down. I think Paulo's Nazi past will see him drummed out of the job and a big distraction not needed. Well done David Miliband for resigning, I agree with Seth Blatter - the bloke should have been banned from football the last time he did a Nazi salute for Lazio. Time for the fans to hammer him. Sunderland are spineless, Fletcher is out, they're screwed. Villa, West Ham, Newcastle will be fine. Sunderland are going down with QPR and Reading.

THE most important game of the season. Why? Nigel Adkins versus MP. Finally it will put to bed the 'who's the best' debaters. 3 points and we secure our position in the Premier League - 37 points should do it, 36 is everyone else's target to stay up. Reading have had their time. They need to go down and back to the leagues they deserve to be in IMHO. We need to bury this team and take back the North Hants supporters to expand our stadium and European challenge. We need to demonstrate we can beat the dross who'll hoof it forward, break and put our dodgy central defenders under pressure. We need to show we can beat the dross and the best. Most important game of the season. Pride, passion and destruction of the pretenders. Bring it on!

Brilliant! I knew we'd win though. We've got the best midfield in the Premier League IMHO, and that means if you're a decent side that plays through the middle like Manure, Citeh, Chelski or Liverpool you dont stand a chance against Southampton! Stats have us all over Chelski despite the odd scarey moment. We dominated AGAIN. About time the press started to wake up and give the lads credit instead of saying the opposition had an off day. Frankly we'd have beaten a fully manned Chelski team. Reading on the other hand.... will hoof it up past the midfield and break and put the back four under pressure. Our Centre Backs will need to be on their game. AND we'll need to be ruthless at the end of the game. They have the ability to strike late and ruin our day. Adkins will also know our weakness. I was always more concerned about Reading than Chelski. I was right. No complacency MP - you should want this Reading game more than any other with Adkins in the other chair. And the players? BE RUTHLESS. Out pass, out play and out muscle the Reading forwards... we win and 37 points says we're safe and staying in the Premier League. Reading.... no mercy.

Is there any team you dislike more than Pompey?
SaintRobbie replied to Ivan Katalinic's 'tache's topic in The Saints
Nope - just Pompey. Love everyone else. -
Far too much opportunity for use of innuendo in this statement.
-
Alan Titchmarsh MBE is of course a man of the red and white cloth.
-
I'll never forget the roar at SMS when he scored again Norwich. Awesome.
-
You need the doctored version of him holding the train picture to be truly iconic!

Sunderland just look like they might implode. They look like their confidence is totally shot. We're still in the scrap though. Wigan are better than their position - I think they'll be safe, I think Villa will be OK. QPR are a cert to go down, they have Harry and he doesnt do relegation fights. Reading are going down. We're still not out of the drop zone yet.
-
Where do they get their ideas? Jawas and the A Team?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/21660313#asset Can't see another thread with this in... Interesting timing and parallels with Rickie Lambert and, of course, Matt Le Tissier. I wonder what it will take before Saints are able to see their players wearing England shirts regularly again? An Argentinian perhaps?
-
That is leadership. We're always switching off in the last few minutes of the 1st half. Well done MP, I guess we won't be switching off again.
-
That was great. Enjoyed watching that. MP needs to get a grip on his English though. He needs to start trying to answer press conference questions in English now, or at least start to. We are an English Club, time for MP to start reflecting that, he's had long enough to learn the basics of the language. He seems to understand the questions ok, time to demonstrate some confidence in the lingo. That said - not watched the full interview on Saints TV so apologies if he's trying and I've missed it. (I am nit-picking though; frankly if he beats teams like Liverpool 3-1 every week he can speak Teletubbies for all I care).

Knew we'd win. Knew we'd wipe them out in midfield. Knew it! Knew it! Happy days. We'll defeat Chelsea too 2-1. Any team that plays through midfield is ours for the taking. Our midfield is fitter and faster than any in the Premier League. All we need is a defence to cope with the hoof merchants.
-
2-1 Saints win. We'll totally outplay them - far better midfield.
