Falkland Island's sticking firmly with a British manager though.

Nigel Adkins to take Southampton to tribunal
SaintRobbie replied to Only1Northam's topic in The Saints
Nigel! Wise up and shut up!! If we relegate you can come back on the pay roll as manager in the Championship. Hang on in there Nige, you can be a Saint again yet! -
Not sure I like the grey facade - should be white or red. But glad to see we'll be back in stripes again when it is built. Out of interest how many more fans will it hold?
-
He's in the Sun and Mirror Premier League team of the weekend! He was weak as a full back in the first half but recovered well in the 2nd against Norwich. Give him a break I say. Afterall the Sun and Mirror can't be wrong, can they?

OK that's Reading and QPR certs to go down, who's the third team though????

Norwich City 0-0 Southampton // Post-Match Reaction
SaintRobbie replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Yep... phew. But we deserved to win. Bad day for results around us. We needed 3 points today. Liverpool and Chelsea to come. 1 point out of a possible 9 IMHO and I can't see us contending for another point for two more games. Not looking good for MP. Not looking good at all. Still at least we have Nigel Adkins on the payroll still for the Championship if it goes wrong! -
He's a better CB than RB. He's playing out of position at Norwich. Give him a break.
-
Saints are dominant in midfield but the conditions seem to be making it difficult to fire in a winner. Probably going to be a win by one goal ... but could go either way despite Saints dominance. Defence OK, but Yoshida clearly finding it difficult to adapt to the conditions and is Saints weak link at the moment.

How long before we hear Sack The Manager
SaintRobbie replied to Miltonroader07's topic in The Saints
He'll probably have to go along with Cortese if we relegate - he's certainly not the man we need for the Championship... he's already been sacked. -
Well he was for the first and the highly reliable Sun newspaper (one level above the Daily Mail for Saints stories) even blamed him for yet another shocker!
-
Oh dear. I had us down for 6 points from the last two games - an important stat given our March run in is tough IMHO. Let's hope we can continue to up our game against better teams and grab some points in March. I think mid-table just went out the window. Come on Saints... you're better than this! Oh... and perhaps Fox should be replaced MP. After all he's cost us a result in both the last two encounters.

There are an amazing amount of facts. FACT. -
All for it. I've always thought that if you treat people like kids they behave like kids. Treat fans like adults. We should be able to have a pint. I think Saints in particular as a family club should embrace this. It will be self policing and good for sensible, grown up football. We can watch the cricket and rugby and even drink in a show at the Mayflower! Come on - let's change. Pints are us! Mine's a lager!

A couple more performances by Saints akin to the Man Ure and Man City game will make people sit up and take notice that actually Saints are an up and coming side. A lot of pundits are missing the point, but will soon change their minds. Man City didn't lose to Saints. Saint beat Man City. Fact.

Bottom of the league teams? Not so sure about this. I am expecting us to kick on to mid table at least at the moment! This thread is going to be so irrelevant in 2-3 weeks Also - Stoke, WBA and West Ham have all been in terrible form over the past 6 games. We'll overtake the mid-table teams at this rate! But for the record, this is what I think we can achieve if we continue in the form we are in. SOUTHAMPTON Fixtures - 27 points February 23 Newcastle (A) Saints WIN 2-1 March 2: QPR (H) Saints WIN 4-0 March 9: Norwich (A) Saints WIN 2-1 March 16: Liverpool (H) DRAW - 2-2 March 30 Chelsea (H) LOSS (I sense Chelsea revenge may be on the cards!) 1-2 April 6: Reading (A) Saints WIN - 2-1.All you have to do with Reading is not switch of in the last 10 minutes. April 13: West Ham (H) Saints WIN - 3-1. April 20: Swansea (A) LOSS - Swans are motoring this season April 27: West Brom (H) Saints WIN 3-1. WBA form is awful. May 4: Tottenham (A) Saints LOSS 2-1. Spuds are firing on all cylinders. May 12: Sunderland (A) Saints LOSS 2-1. Sunderland will be struggling and its a long trip. May 19: Stoke (H) Saints WIN 3-1. Stoke are in poor form. 22 extra points putting us on 59, and a top half finish. Its possible, its really possible.

So are we now officially OVER Nigel Adkins
SaintRobbie replied to Miltonroader07's topic in The Saints
Yep - totally over Nigel. It's a new era now with lots of potential!! -
I think this is a good result. I am very keen to see Reading relegate as it will send fringe supporters in northern Hants back our way, important if we're going to build a bigger stadium. Still 4 points between us, but even more important it means that we're only one win from mid-table now! Oh how Newcastle away becomes suddenly more important, I'd love to finish above West Ham after all the preseason rubbish about hoe they were better equipped to stay in the Premier League. I think this is a good result... we're less concerned over relegation now and more concerned over a mid-table finish IMHO. Confidence is high.

It was alright. ..... Can't help but think Adkins would have got a draw at best. It's working. Whatever MP is doing, it's working.

Saint Or Sinner Nicola Cortese Drives Southampton On
SaintRobbie replied to Graffito's topic in The Saints
Yep. You can't fault his ambition and in my experience, ambition is infectious. I like it. I like have hope. I like sharing Cortese's dream. I want to be a top four Club. I want to be the Barcelona of the South. “He may be a bastard, but he’s our bastard.” Golden post that one! I still, however, think he's put the first nail in his coffin. If he fails with MP and we relegate, he will have been shown to be a crass decision maker and gambler - he'll be removed, by fans and owners. If he's successful he's achieved his aim and he is certainly not the type of chairman we'd need to retain our position in the top 4 - so the owners will sack him and replace him anyway. He's a little like Nigel Adkins really - very good at getting us up there but unproven and uncertain to maintain success in the long term. So then it's time to replace him with someone with PROVEN high level Chairman credentials. What's more he's a human being and foreign - he'll want to go home someday and no-one likes to be criticised all the time when they're doing their best to complete the job. Cortese will not be here in a year if we relegate, or 4-5 years if we put ourselves into Europe for two seasons on the bounce. So, as the Prof says, get behind him as we need him... until then. -
We're going to win tomorrow... 2-1 Saints. just got a feeling that's all... just a feeling....
-
I agree - MP warned that he wasnt going to buy a player for the sake of it. Good policy I say. We have a team that can survive in this league. Any addition we now make should be a superstar, £8m plus players. Its time to reinforce with quality when we can not panic and buy anyone. More money for the summer.
-
We played so well against Manure tonight and pressed so hard that I wonder if MP hasn't burnt us out for the Wigan visit. I hope not, but we shall see. Winnable - I'm going for 2-0 to Saints nonetheless.
-
Fergie was bloody worried at the end of that. Saints looked great. Proud of them and our fans in Manchestaar. If we keep playing like this we'll finish mid table!
