LAst 5 mins have seen x2 daft errors - we're tired.
-
Now lets snatch a win against Norwich at home!!! So pleased. Well done Nigel!!!
-
Yes its partly because we're back in the Premiership. But, it is also the worst strip we've ever had IMHO - it's not Saints unless its red and white stripes. Sorry, the sash I could accept as a historical throwback, playing dressed as Liverpool I can't. S O S Save... Our....Stripes!
-
This is reassuring.

Please please please!!!

Happy - very happy!!! Well done Nige and the lads!!!!!!

No. I think the fans, players and even Cortese are behind him. I also think he can turn things around with great support from the fans. It's time to switch to a more traditional Saints Premier League season footing and remember we're in a survival battle. Every game is an FA Cup match from hereon in.

I'd not say it was a must win.... more a could or should win. We can beat QPR if we play as we have been and don't make stupid mistakes at the back.
-
LOL! Irony obviously went over your head I was trying to jokingly say we need stronger defenders not dieting ones lol!
-
Adkins way? My theory is our defence needs more of the Adkin's Diet - more meat and less potatoes.
-
We were BETTER. We had Ricky Lambert on for the whole game. We looked better defensively until the young keeper Gazza made that foolish error. Not Adkins fault. Good substitutions. Good team selection. Good tactics. We can iMPROVE with NA and more experience. On this performance we can stay up IMHO. Stupid goalkeeper error for the clearance and Nathan Dyer was always going to score - it always happens to Saints, they come back to haunt us our ex players!!! One error. One PLAYER error. For me this was the most encouraging performance yet. More solid defensively and its great seeing Lambert, Clyne, Gaston Ramirez, Lallana particularly playing so well. Spiderman needs to be a little less French and more level headed sometimes for me, but he delivers as much as he makes mistakes. Puncheon is looking stronger too. There's HOPE. Well done Nigel Adkins. Take a sharp slap around the face Gazza.

Oh no! How stupid!!!! Gazza!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What I'll be doing on Saturday afternoon.
SaintRobbie replied to Legod Third Coming's topic in The Saints
I do enjoy LGSCs posts. Well said. -
Can't deny NC's focus, drive and ambition. I know who I prefer between him and Lowe. Good reminder that our chairman might be a hard bloke but he has gotten results. And its a reminder that our manager is outstanding too. Good article for the Mail.

I'm in a real quandary now. Having started to advocate that perhaps Nige isnt up to the job and we should genuinely think of punting on Harry Redknapp to save our season and Premiership status, I find this decision comforting. NA is outstanding, no doubts. Perhaps as others have posted a quick year in the Premiership and relegation with NA and a stronger team may be acceptable after all. Don't get me wrong. This game is all about WINNING, and at the moment NA is a loser. But, there is something comforting and optimistic about him staying. Perhaps enough is enough. We've all become frustrated with NAs lack of success, but he's staying and putting him and his team under more pressure is not going to help. So, can I suggest ALOT of singing for Nigel at the next game. He's a Saint and he's staying. ITS TIME FOR US ALL TO SUPPORT HIM. We've won too many games this past 2 years to remember that most seasons in the PL were about staying up - lets get back to what we do best. Support our team and sing our hearts out. NA is staying. So is my support for him. Adkins - do it mate. Get this defence sorted and let's 4-4-2 ourselves with Lambert upfront to victory. COYR

Morale...has Gastons pay package had an affect?

Fair point. -
Morale...has Gastons pay package had an affect?
SaintRobbie replied to Dibden Purlieu Saint's topic in The Saints
I doubt his pay package has had an effect. But I would suggest he hasnt - so far - been worth the money and even if we relegate there is no way we'll see half of what we paid for him back. Some of our players need to start firing on all cylinders - and he's one of them. -
Adkins now 2nd favourite for Blackpool job
SaintRobbie replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
I hope Nigel takes it. But, apart from Harry Redknapp I can't see another Premiership quality manager on the market who can attract players in January to get us out of this mess and get us firing again. -
You know I bloody agree with this. Get the stripes back Cortese. It's amazing what a visual change and decent management can do to inspire professionals. Our strip is not Saints. S ave O ur S tripes !

Rubbish. Where are Derby County and others, better for having the worst Premier League record? Dont think so. Not guaranteed I'm afraid. It has to be a season of fighting for our Prem status not rolling over and hoping for next season... that's just defeatism. This is a game of survival of the fittest and that requires skill and adaptability. He need a new manager to induce some confidence, seek reinforcement and then keep us in this league. We are heading for an embarrassing lowest ever point tally in Premier League history and Adkins has now shown he can't do it. I strongly advocate consistent management, but I'm afraid he is not up to the job. IF a better man is available he needs to be signed up this week. Sooner the better for a change. Good luck Nigel - you'll leave Saints a hero. Quit while you're still ahead.

I'm afraid its time for Adkins to go. Gutted, but needs must.

I think it's a win or change the manager time tomorrow. I hate to see NA go, but unless the team has a more determined and professional performance its time for a manager who can attract players, instil confidence and discipline, start off with firm demarcation lines between chairman and manager and keep us up before pushing us on to European status next season. Bad history or not, he has a chance to prove himself and make amends. He's local and arguably the finest English manager. He knows this league backwards and is highly respected by pundits, players and has a wrong to right. I pray NA pulls of a win tomorrow. But if not, let's not delay longer than necessary, let's make the change now. It will (sadly for NA and managerial consistency) be time to see Harry Redknapp back, but this time with an ambitious football club chairman rather than a plc chairman. This time without an England rugby coach in his face. This time with a mission to restore his reputation and maintain a Southern club in the top flight. Stranger things have happened in football....

Southampton 2nd XI.

I hate to say this - but I am in violent agreement. Perhaps new leadership is needed. For me NA gets West Brom to finally get it right and get a result. If he fails and the team plays with as much enthusiasm as they did against Leeds then I suspect new leadership may well be needed. managerial consistency is the key to success, but if he's lost the players and confidence is non-existent then there will have to be a change. I pray NA gets West Brom right.
