Ahhhhh! That's why Adkins gave him the Captain's armband!!! Understand now. Well done Adam!!! Chuffed to bits, great to see Saints providing England with players again. A great day!
-
Hate it. We look like Liverpool. S ave O ur S tripes Whats more we haven't won a real game in it so its obviously unlucky, despite what they say in the Far East about red being lucky!!
-
Right up until we started winning games again and he'd be a hero. Fickle bunch with short memories football fans. The one positive about Redknapp coming back for me is that he only wants to work his way for Clubs with a chance of success. He doesnt need the money. Could be a good sign. ..... but I still say Adkins should be left alone and supported for consistency.
-
Wont matter soon, once the Club's sold. ..... fingers crossed.
-
Oh dear - the last player we had who was off the pace ended up in Nottingham Forest on loan, despite being talented.

We should stick with Adkins, consistent management is the key to success, but according to the Star (not very reliable to be fair) our Board have Harry in mind to replace NA. Makes sense in many ways as Arry can manage quality international players, but with Arry comes a need for cash from a wealthy owner. IMHO, if Adkins fails to produce before the Club is sold then Arry could well be on his way back. He is simply the most successful and experienced English manager available. 'Stranger things have happened in football' Stick with NA though PLEASE. But, if we're bought out by a wealthy new owner from Asia then keep minds open. I hate to say it, but Arry with cash is almost a dead cert to get us to where we want to be... in the top four and in Europe. The difference this time is that we have an ambitious chairman, board and individual ownership. This club is not being run as a plc anymore. What's more it doesn't have Lowe's toxic leadership. It could work. But, I so hope NA can turn things around soon to take this option off the table. If not it will rumble on. If it does rumble on it will sew sees of doubt in our team. What we need is to get this out the way fast. Either the Board needs to come out and say its rubbish and NA is our man or it does its job and brings in new owners fast with a new strategy and we get behind it. Every day this rumbles on is a nail in our Premier League coffin IMHO. My advice? Stick with NA, it's the best way.

CB is certainly a step in the right direction. This chap is unproven though - and young. I am still concerned about our lack of Premier League experience in our side. So, I can't believe that we're not looking to bring in someone like Berbatov, who seems to be about to go for a song to Fulham! NC's strategy is emerging for new ownership - buy in Asian talent and change your strip to lucky Far Eastern red! I suspect our new owners may well be from the Far East. Possibly good news, seeing as that's where the money is for the next 30 years!
-
God our defence is poor. I tell you what though... if you havent seen the Puncheon goal buy a Saints TV subscription... it's up there with the best of MLT.
-
Why are we chasing this unproven player when Berbatov is everything we need - quality. Premier League experience, Morale boosting, AND IS SUPPOSEDLY HEADING FOR FULHAM!!!!?? WFT? Go after Berbatov. We need some experience FFS! .... and buy a bloody defence Cortese. We have enough strikers FFS.
-
MANAGERIAL CONSISTENCY is the secret of any football team. NA will be fine, NC on the other hand needs to reinforce this team with a defence. Faster the better. I cannot believe we have not reinforced with some Premier League stalwarts though. Still give the new team a chance to settle.

Oh please. Lowe and the Daily Mail have had a love in for years. Lowe was a total disaster. Fact. Any chairman would have invested in the Youth set up at that time given the same decision to make, because it was cheap and the framework was in place with good coaches already at the club. At best you can say Lowe didnt screw this one up as it was such an easy call to make in the first place!
-
He's a Saint. Phillips is on his way!
-
Exactly. He and Fox are not talking.
-
We should be 3 goals down to be fair. NA needs to completely change the format at half time IMHO. He needs to now rely on surprising Man City with a new plan or we'll gradually be whittled down to lose by 3-4 goals. Jay Rod and Fox are looking awful. Our strip is crap. Bring back our stripes. And apart from that we'll come back and win 3-2...
-
NA thinking long term IMHO. Blood a few new guys and keep your talent safe for games you can win. Looks like he's hoping for a draw. OR looking to hold Man City before putting on a strong strike force and upping the pace in the last 15-20 minutes to snatch a win. A draw however is the best we can hope for today methinks.
-
Head: Man City 4 - Saints 0 Heart: Man City 0 - Saints 4 ..so a combination of head and heart = 2-2 draw! COYR
-
Stranger things have happened. The fans would hate it, unless he did what he always does with a well-backed Chairman and buy talent before achieving success. Then we'd love him again as we did when he first arrived. Still the best English manager on the market by a country mile.... but Redknapp wouldnt be my choice! What's more I doubt he'd take it. 'Arry strikes me as being a man who likes to be loved, he isn't loved here. He doesnt need the hassle. He's unlikely to want the hassle.
-
Oh my god I just shuddered then, horrible feeling of anything Lowe and/or Wotte engenders nausea.
-
NA to be sacked? Worth a punt if NC is close to getting some serious new owners. We are the next Man City! ..... although I'd be very sad to see NA leave. He has the potential to be a cracking Premier League manager in due course, though I wonder if he knows the League well enough right now. His spending has not included any seasoned - quality - Premier pros and that concerns me. I'd be looking for experience to bolster our side not loads of Championship talent. Still, we shall see. Frankly, I hope he makes the transition. He deserves his chance and if he keeps us up I'll be happy. I think NA will do that job, we'll finish mid-table under him IMHO. But, with money, ambitious owners and a proven high level manager attracting high end players, the sky's the limit!

Is It The Southampton Way or the highway For Nigel Adkins?
SaintRobbie replied to BILLY's topic in The Saints
I think we'll be mid-table to be honest... if we buy a defence. -
0-4!!? Oh dear. Defence needed?

Blackpool report Saints over Phillips approach
SaintRobbie replied to SuperMikey's topic in The Saints
I have a feeling the FA will laugh off any claim by Holloway! Let's face it everyone thinks he's a loud-mouth. What's more, everyone knows he hates Saints. Holloway is trying to frighten Phillips into staying by making look as if he has also been linked with something against the rules. Matt Phillips is a Saint in waiting ... I like the sound of that. -
'good signings'… bloody spell checker…

I think I know what you mean. There have been some goo designing but frankly a little under whelming overall. For a club seeking Europe I am surprised we've not picked up a couple of Premier League stalwarts who know the league. But, in NA we trust…!
