  1. Fans need to be realistic. We are in a bargain basement situation and the Board or Crocker or whoever have done well this window to put right past wrongs
  2. Crocker and the recruitment guys are to be trusted. They are clearing out the mess they inherited and replacing well and yet within our financial limitations. That's some achievement. I know this season is going to be a struggle but survive it and we are on a better foundation.
  3. Ox would strengthen the squad. He doesn't have to play every match or even 90 minutes if we are deepening the squad that is exactly what's needed. I reckon the bad days of recruitment are over and the present Board are making realistic moves this summer.
  4. George O'Brien is another forgotten man, he had a great scoring record. The only time I've seen him mentioned is when he died, recently
  5. But one of the dodgy things about Ings is you never know if and when he'll be fit to play
  6. STeve Williams to set them up and Steve Moran to finish them off, though Phil Boyer or Ted MacDougal or George O'Brien would do it, or Channon or Chivers or Shearer. Wow, we've had some great strikers
  7. Everyone knows Danny's goals did a lot for us but we did just as much for Danny. We picked him up from Liverpool where he was the forgotten man and brought him back into top football. When he finally retires I am sure his Southampton years will be his most successful.
  8. To answer the question--YES--the Premier League is too rich for us but another dozen clubs may be feeling the same, it's not just us. Wealth has got in to a small clique. Three or four clubs can sweep up all the top talent. But that makes me keener to support my team and so proud that we have been in the top flight as long as we have, against all the odds
  9. Reckon we've got a good deal. It opens doors. And I trust present Board to spend the money well. Danny did well but his best days are over and we got them. Good business for a welcome change
  10. If Obafemi goes, good luck to him. I reckon he could be a star in the Championship and if his move helps us pay for AA its win-win.He needs a full season with a Club doing well, Blackburn would be a good fit.
  11. Why are you all assuming he will leave? I still think he is essential to our way of playing and to our club spirit
  12. JWP is the heart of the team and what's more he stays fit, he's under rated and would be replaced by an incomer who can't be expected to have the same club loyalty.
  13. If we are going to break the bank it should be to buy Ings replacement, ready to cover for all his injuries before he goes
  14. A good window in my opinion is one which clears out of the club unsuitable and unproductive players, making space and some wages for new members preferably young eager and adaptable. I see the first part as almost done and the second part as beginning, probably a long process. In short we are on the right track and doing well for a club without the means of the bigger clubs. Something to be proud of, so stop expecting the stars and COYR.
  15. Ron Davies also went from us to them, I think
  16. You make it sound so easy--'put him on the transfer list'--but who will buy? no one at the wage contract we've given. And he won't accept less-who would? We shouldn't blame him, we gave the contract. Other Premier clubs have similar problems-overpaid and underplayed players they can'r move on. It's common but we haven't the cash reserves the others have
  17. I don't understand why FF gets so much flack on here. I know he's expensive but we gave him the contract--was he meant to say ''no no that's far too much". He's not a world beater and he makes me nervous but I can't remember too much wrong last season.
  18. If Ings stays it is always likely he will be injured half the season and have a free transfer at the end. Cash in now--if anyone will take the risk

    Danny Ings

Ings is becoming a liability, if he stays he is likely to have injuries, play half a season and leave for nothing. But no big club shows any sign of wanting to pay now when they can have him for free in twelve months. So we haven't got the cash to buy a replacement. The Club is stymied, the players have all the power.

    Danny Ings

WE have to generate our own cash which ties the manager's hands and puts us at a big disadvantage. This is nothing new, its been this way for years. It's a triumph to have been in the top flight so long. The players, the manager and the Board have done an amazing job with no help from the owner. If we sell Ings I will not be sorry. He is in the twilight of his career, he is injury prone,, he will be worth nothing in a year's time or, if he signs a new contract we will be saddled with massive wages with him in treatment room. But with the cash we can plan a future with a younger fitter striker. Thank you Danny, you've been star quality when fit. If any other club is willing to take the risk, go for it!
  21. Just hope we get rid, be a bonus if we get anything for him as well as saving his wages. He is not a model for our youngsters and he can't adapt to our style. but will take him off our hands?
  22. Lemina back? Oh I hope not, if someone will pay 5p let him go. We know he's talented and shows it sometimes but the Premier League needs consistency and 100% commitment, he ain't got it, a shame but that's the way he is.
  23. This is true, makes it all the more of a success story that we have been in the top league as much as we have since desperate days in the old Third division and then in modern times in Lg one on minus 10 points. It's a great club to support
  24. If we can't back him in the summer market, i wouldn't blame him for walking because he will be blamed if things don't improve.
  25. Yes, and among the 'so many' was Mark Hughes who often had him on the bench and who preferred Hoedt to Bednarek
