  1. Not all managers want to spend big money and have a team of stars/celebrities.The Big Six and the glamout trail does not suit everyone. Some real footballing types prefer to coach and nuture talent and get satisfaction from that. I am thinking and hoping that we've got one of those. The signs are good!
  2. RON REYNOLDS ex Spurs kept goal ok for a few years. Cetainly they have done better out of us..Alf Ramsey, Martin Chivers before recent ones
  3. Che got goals for Birmingham and he's got assists for us and if he had any luck he would have had goals instead of hitting woodwork. He is not a waste like Carillo and that crazy chap that bopped Fonte and he only cost half their price. I really hope we keep him unless he has set his heaert on the move. It will be a shame if he comes good for someone else and scores their winner down here.
  4. Well, we let Virgil go in January
  5. If the manager thinks his time with us is up, let him go before he is more 'deadwood' and a drag on the wage bill, we've enough of those. This is something for the manager to judge, if he thinks his usefulness is over and we get £10m for him i would give more than polite applause
  6. The way Bournemouth has been run, the way they have risen from the loweto the highest with the same manager all through is highly impressive, in fact unique. I hope they stay up, besides I would rather face them than Leeds next seaon
  7. JWP has surprised me, he is the 'engine' or the hub round which it all turns. No wonder he is first on RH team sheet, Danny has surprised me even more, I thought we had been cornered by Liverpool into buying a crock. Those two need to keep fit
  8. Not only the start of the season. I espaired after the WHU match and thought 'That's it' since when we've won almost everything
  9. I was a boy when we signed Jimmy Shields but I remember my Mum going to whist drives to help raise the money! then when he came she didn't think much of him but I remember him as an old fashioned helter-skelter centre forward who caused chaos and got some good goals
  10. Dellman

    Che Adams

It was his quick pass which opened the way for the second goal. that's part of his job well done.
  11. The cry has been for a cb ever since the Fonte affair. In fact we have bought several and some are of proven international quality but we just haven't found a partnership that works---until now. This is not the time to buy yet another cb this is the time to sell the 6ft7in misfit who can't get off the ground and would be outjumped by our 5ft 6in Shane. If he goes for a bit of cash, I would hope for a creastive attacking midfield (Maddison type) if there is one, but I would rather stay as we are than buy more expensive guys who won't be better than what we have got but might upset the spirit we have found.
  12. Shane is the sort I would want in a relegation fight. He has the spirit, the energy, the tenacity and the team ethic. He will motivate others, he will win never say die and with relegation threatening we need one like that. Go for it Shane, we're with you all the way!
  13. Yes, its upsetting, worrying and not what I expected this season but in the last four matches we have shown consistent improvement, especially against N'castle even if we did lose, and that is a good sign for second half of the season which I am expecting to enjoy
  14. Ralph was dealt a dud hand when he joined us, not because the squad was second rate but because the absentee owners have offered no financial backing or any other sign of support to improve things. He also had a Board of Directors with minimal football knowledge and those who had football knowledge were both sacked (with good reason) and not replaced yet, leaving him playing a lone hand. I feel the guy is a good amnager with a good record and we are lucky to have him, he needs and deserves max support from us, he isn't getting it from anyone else. I know some selections appear very odd to us, but we have no idea of training ground attitudes, he has.
  15. The JWP abuse sickens me. it also reminds me of the abuse Sadio Mane got on here. I don't think we are very expert on this site, and we are meant to be supporters, I thought.
  16. And Steve Williams and Danny Wallace and Rodney and Steve Moran and Bobby Stokes of course and Charlie Wayman and...and..
  17. Yes, when Laurie got rid of Terry he was frequently called 'Mac my enemy' . Prefer a statue of Terry any day---but one is enough and if we had a second I would prefer Markus, without him we would have gone the way of Bury. Stone 'plaque of honour' we could have a long debate about who goes on that
  18. Where would you draw the boundary on statues? Terry Paine, one club for 800 games, took us through all the leagues, we can make a good case for him, Mick Channon our record goalscorer, and of course Le God. We have one statue. Ted, from boot boy to President and every spot in between for 60 years. No one can match that. One is enough!

  20. Is there ever going to be an announcement? Is anything happening, or are we just imagining things?
  21. He was an early defector, left us for Sundrland and became the highest paid manager in Uk, got them relegated and found it more comfortable back here.
  22. It was NC who spotted our potential as an investment and persuaded Saint Markus to buy us. We never appreciated NC and despised him as The Dwarf, but we could do with another NC now to find us an owner willing to invest.
  23. Not much activity on this thread. Bit disappointing. I thought it would be full of rumours, gossip and some real intelligence because this appointment is our main hope of beating ther drop. Where are you? Lets be 'aving you!
  24. There's a collection of managers who have been round and round the circuit, getting sacked time and again. In what other walk of life would you interview a man aged 70 with a list of sackings? We don't want any of those well worn old timers
