  1. Absolutely right, good luck Matt
  2. I hope Che and Moussa will have fans encouragement and be given time to settle and they wont be written off after three games as happened to Mane.
  3. Yes, but also selling Austin, Forster, Carillo, Boufal, Classie because we are seriously over crowded with guys that won't be playing for us again ---if its a good window
  4. Its funny that the two chosen fpr England are the two who have had the most hatred and scorn on this forum. Well done to both of them and I hoipe they dont waste time reading our opinions.
  5. Yes, and the Spurs hosts hadn't expected such a huge crowd and had shut off one stand so there was a crush outside and when we got in Saints were already 3-0 up
  6. FA Cup Round 5. Notts Forest. We drew 1-1 away and in the replay at the Dell we were 0-3 down with 15 minutes left. We drew 3-3 and in the next replay (neutral ground White Hart Lane) we won 5-0. We reached the semi final but lost 0-1 to Man Utd, It was the year of the great ice-up 1964 I think
  7. I used to think Lallana would never leave us, he had been with us from boyhood and I imagined being 'one of our own' counted for something. I was dumbfounded when he left because I then realised loyalty meant a lot to me (I've been a fan since the first game after the war) but nothing to the players I try to support and love. However, I still have the same feeling for JWP that I had for Lallana and I really think he is 'one of our own' who will stay and continue to give his heart to the club, like many fans inc me. He will become a long term legend, like Terry Paine, I hope.
  8. He won it for them
  9. This is the first summer I am not fearful. We have no stars to lose, a few departures will be a very good thing. And this manager knows what he wants from any new signing. We have a coach, not a wheeler dealer.
  10. With Ralph the chairman gone, what will the difference be?
  11. Couldn't agree more. Really unhealthy hostility on here to our own players, I keep thinking it must be fans from down the road, not our own.
  12. People say 'clear out the dead wood' as if it was as easy as putting household rubbish in the bin. The 'dead wood' all have contracts we must honoour so they will stay, no top club will want them and no lower club will pay their inflated wages
  13. yes but I'm told the most amazing thing is we've recovered without a single goal this year from a forward. Is that really true?
  14. Branfoot might be a nice guy, Harry Redknapp comes over as a nice guy, the media love him---doesn't make him a good manager any more than the nightmare of Branfoot era, I see Harry's Brum now have -9 points, how did Pompey escape points deduction?
  15. He got us a top class owner and took us fro -10points in the lower league to mid table premier league and he got us Poch. Fantastic record, thanks NC, no one can deny the facts, he saved us and set us up
  16. You can interpret it that way if you like, this web is not noted for encouraging our own, I will never forget the abuse Mane got here, but my point was about managers, they seem to be able to make or break players---look at Man U under Ole compared with Jose. I'm just thankful we've got Ralph H. JWP is not the only improved player, why was Bednarek hidden away under Hughes?
  17. Its amazing what managers do for a player...Hughes didn't rate JWP and left him out, not even on the bench sometimes: Ralph comes in and says publicly that JWP is key to our team, praises his technique and knows how to use him--and he is becoming Player of the Season and scoring the goals the strikers aren't scoring. Well done Ralph for discivering talent which was wasted
  18. Same can be said of Austin, we're stuck with him, no one will pay those wages, so he knows where he is well off
  19. The sad thing is, the game we love has become a very nasty business at the top level
  20. Quite right! I remember Lawrie Mac speaking into a mic and encouraging us to put in coins/notes as a bag was passed round, on the eve of administration, yet he was taking a whack out as an 'ambassador' as well as a shareholder
  21. Forster will only go on a free and then we will probably have to pay half his wages as well
  22. Exactly! The number who will stay with us for a whole career are few and far between and always have been..Terry P, Nick Holmes, MLT even Mick Channon had a short spell away, and its the same with other clubs. So enjoy what you've got while you've got it and when they leave wish them well (I can't quite do that with the Liverpool gang)
  23. Poch had lots of critics in his time here inc Lawrie Mac who hadn't heard of 'the young lad who doesn't speak English', most on this site thought his time with Spurs would be short before he got the push
  24. Don't agree. The squad was too big. It needed to be slimmed down--and still does need to be slimmed further. It was no good adding same quality as we have, if there was not top quality players ready to come, better to stay with our present players. Yesterday was big blow. But we are improving. And yes, Valery looks good to me. Its just a goalscorer we miss and no, Gabbi was not the answer. It's worrying but not hopeless.
  25. Great! We've got another emerging from our Academy for our 'fans' to mock and ridicule. Why do they expect the finished super star product in the first match--or even in the first year?
