  1. Warnock is chasing Lambert according to the Daily Mail now they have some money - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2252323/Leeds-target-Southampton-striker-Rickie-Lambert.html I can't really see him leaving Saints this season - and would he take a step down to the Championship to play for Leeds now he's made it to the Premier League. But keeping in mins he's just turned 30 if we got a great offer for him would you sell him - and how much would it take?
  2. I'm still not sure why we bought Mayuka - we needed wingers not another striker - and a,though he has pace he didn't look like much of either yesterday. I think we are going to need to do a bit of wheeling and dealing in January so yes I do hope he has a good ACON so we can sell him at a profit - either in January or the Summer as I don't think we are going to see much more out of him at St Mary's. He was the major reason the team looked flat yesterday - they were creating chances and making the play to start off with but every single one broke down when he failed to get the ball or mis-controlled it. Sometimes football does come down to having your one chance and taking it - and yesterday he really didn't take it.
  3. The Sunderland fans didn't make much of a noise until they scored! Then they were loud-but it's easy when your winning! Your mate sounds like he was just trying to p*ss you off - you should just dump him! Also sounds a bit like jealous - have you see Sunderland - it's right down there with Middlesbrough. As for the home fans - we started OK but went flat just like the team - the two things are normally very connected
  4. Terrible team selection and terrible substitutions. Mayuka was terrible - how is he the 85 best player in the world? He seemed to be on a completely different wavelength to the rest of the team - and unable to control the ball most of the time. Lambert, Puncheon and Ramirez also had bad games - did Lambert win anything in the air today? Puncheon ran down far too many blind alleys and Ramirez just kept on losing the ball. Clyne made a lot of mistakes today as well. The subs were awful - Guly and De Ridder are just not Premier League players. De Ridder does one brilliant thing every time he plays but is truly awful apart from that - he'd be a lot better if he was just averagely good every game! I don't understand why we didn't start with Rodriguez -and even more so why we didn't replace Mayuka with Rodriguez after 15 mins - we needed someone to lead the line - and compete in the air.
  5. Well that was a terrible mistake today - let's hope he had a good ACON so we can flog him at a profit!
  6. Guided Missile my arse - more a point and shoot rocket propelled grenade! The damage was done by those people who said they'd back Wilde with money - but when it came to it they wouldn't put their hands in their pockets! And Lowe who spent the money that would have kept us up on large executive salaries, bonuses and dividends - not too mention builders and plumbers fees for doing up the training ground! And SISA because they were upset someone else tried to do something! But going into administration was the best thing that ever happened to Saints - because it was the only way we were going to get rid of Lowe and his cronie shareholders
  7. Is class based on your post code, your income, your education, your occupation or your values?
  8. Lucas Biglia from Antwerp - he's 25 so got the mix of youth and experience we need. He's Argentinian but holds an Italian passport. As a Defensive Midfielder who can pass the ball he is exactly what we need to give some cover and competition for Morgan and Cork
  9. I think too many of our players (Morgan, Lambert) and the manager were in awe of Liverpool - some of the press stuff before the game was just embarassing. We have earned the right to play them this season - and let's not forget we were in the top division for 27 years - it's where we belong. It's the worst Liverpool side for years - we should have beaten them. And Liverpool are not the team or club of old - they are in decline. The other problem is we don't have enough strength in depth - we should have rested a couple of players in mid week - but failed to do so - but other than in one or two positions we don't have a second 11
  10. You just upgrade the season ticket at the ticket office before the game - and just pay the difference. The whole point of the lights is they can see if your using an OAP or kids ticket when your an adult. You can only do it in person on match day as they invalidate the season ticket for that game
  11. It's not helping looking like Liverpool

    No Guly

Who agrees contracts with clauses like that - that's unbelievable

    Substitutions!!!

Cork made a real difference - actually won the ball and made forward runs carrying the ball forward - much much better than Davis Shaw looked OK - much better positionally than Fox Lambert has played better - but really needs someone in from f him leading the line - and we really miss the diagonal balls and crosses to the far post from Richardson Ramirez didn't look like £12million of value to me - he gave the ball away softly 3 or 4 times Overall the defence looked a lot better - but we really needed to win this game. A stupid mistake from Gazzinaga gave the game away. I'm not really sure what we do about the keeper - of the three Gazzinaga has looked the best - but he had a bad game today and made a terrible mistake - but all 3 have made them. I'd probably stick with him so he's ready for the Championship next season unless we bring in a proper first choice keeper in January
  14. I tell you what I want someone sacked - someone's head on a stick for this almighty mess we are up in - Les Reed, Cortese, Adkins - some if the players. Whoever was in charge of our transfer strategy over the summer should go first - then whoever is in charge of out team selection and tactics. Then we need someone with a plan for getting us back up again once we've been relegated - and we need to start working on it now!
  15. Give it up - it's over - we are going down. We might scrape a draw against QPR and Reading this side of Christmas but that is probably it.
  16. Well I don't think we need to worry about someone signing him when we go down based on that performance. Davis is a waste of space though.
  17. Its gone down the sh*tter!
  18. You can only play attacking full backs if you've got 2 midfielders who are going to sit and defend - we don't! Morgan used to be able to defend - and keep the ball - and Davis can't seem to do either. I'm not actually sure what the point of Davis is!? We are really missing Cork.
  19. Fox, Morgan, Davis, Fonte and Yoshida were all awful tonight. Fox is consistently awful though - his lack of positional awareness is terrifying. He just cannot seem to mark his man - or occupy the space he should. He drifts into the middle and backs off attacking players which seems to cause the rest if the defence to panic. Saying that tonight he was drifting in at times ascYoshida seemed to be marking no one.
  20. Michael Dawson on loan with an option to buy if we stay up - I could see that happening as he's not playing much at Spurs. I'd love to see us sign Butland and Zaha for the future but I just can't see it Other than that I think we're looking at Championship players who want too step up to the Premier League and might stay with us or a season if we do -,and maybe one or two unknowns from Holland or Italy. Matt Phillips for pace on the right - and because it looks like we'll lose Mayuka to the African Nations Cup for a month if not 2 at the end of January. Charlie Austin would be another good signing - he's looking too good for the Championship and is going to want out of Burnley - and they'll probably need to sell. Maybe Scott Dann or Curtis Davies to strengthen the defence. I'd love to see Douglas Franco Texeira but again not sure it will happen for us. We desperately need a left back - Erik Pieters from Holland would be top of my list but I again I can't see it happening for us. Maybe we'll seal the deal for Nicolai Boilesen instead. At the same time we need to move some of the deadwood out. De Ridder and Hooiveld back to Holland. Dickson and Seabourne back to League 1. Butterfield back to the Championship. And Do Prado back to Brazil. Maybe send Tandanari Lee out on loan as well to get some more experience of English Football back in the Championship.

    January

So do we stick or twist in January? We spent £30 million or so in the summer in a so far failed attempt to make the step up to the premiership to bridge the gap in quality if you like. And according to the rumours there was more money on the table to spend. If things continue as they are - we are going back down - I'm pretty sure of that. So do we stick with it and spend a lot more money in January in an attempt to stay up? Bring in players like Michael Dawson in defence. Problem with that is January is a time for inflated transfer fees and inflated wages. We'll also have to overpay players to persuade them to take a risk on relegation. And it might not work anyway and leave us running at a massive loss in the Championship. That's if the players don't abandon us in the summer - and probably for less than we paid for them. Or do we twist - accept we are probably going to get relegated - and bring in players that will stay with us when we get relegated -on Championship wages - and give us a great chance of getting promoted again? Players like Curtis Davies, Scott Dann, Matt Phillips and Charlie Austin. I guess there is an outside chance those players could keep us up! Which players should we be looking to sign in January? Should we plan for relegation and aim for promotion again next season? Or should we go out all guns blazing to stay up up this season - and take the risk of financial meltdown if we do go down. Will we be able to keep hold of players like Lallana, Morgan, Yoshida and Mayuka if we do go down.
  22. One thing Davis isn't is a ball winner. Midfield 3 of Cork and Schneiderlin to sit and hold - protecting the centre backs and full backs - with Lallana to carry the ball forward and run at the opposition for me Then Mayuka on the right to add some much needed pace out wide and Ramirez on the left with Rodriguez up front for his pace and movement
  23. A morale boosting win over Spurs for Norwich who took the League Cup more seriously than us - let's see where their momentum takes then now!?!
  24. I think NC - like most of us was fairly p*ss*d off we threw away the chance we had of winning the title against Reading last season - no too mention the surrender to Blackpool. Much like we failed to win the League 1 title as well the season before Perhaps his faith in Adkins and their relationship broke down after that. To be fair we crawled over the finishing line to promotion last season. I've heard rumours from people that seem to always know what's going on inside the club that we had a number of players all but signed and sealed in the summer - but Cortese delayed and they went somewhere else or stayed put. Perhaps Cortese's confidence in Adkins judgement has gone - and Adkins know's it. It certainly seems that there was some disagreement over players signed in the summer as Adkins kept talking of signings but they never seem to happen. Tandanari and Yoshida were both commercial signings - and Ramirez and Mayuka vanity signings - it seems to me. I don't think any of them were Adkin's choices. I am starting to think a parting of the ways is inevitable. Those same people also tell me that Cortese wants out.
  25. Do you really think players like Lallana, Cork, Schneiderlin, Clyne, Mayuka, Lee, Yoshida and Ramirez will stick around if we get relegated? And if we are in the bottom 3 in January will we be able to bring in the type of player we need to stay up - it becomes a downward spiral. I can't see players like Michael Dawson or Matt Phillips joining us in that situation. Whatever happens we need to get rid of players like De Ridder, Guly, Butterfield, Dickson and Seabourne in January and bring in players that actually give us some strength in depth and might actually be capable of getting us back up. Players like Charlie Austin and Kieran Trippier perhaps.
