  1. Motorola Solutions partnered with Kingston Telecom to put WiFi in at Hull City. As they are based in Basingstoke Motorola were also talking to Saints but it all went dead when the sponsorship team disappeared at the start of the season Real Madrid and Bayern Munich have WiFi in the stadium bowls already as well I think - both as part of sponsorship deals
  2. The problem is he's not a centre forward - he's a second striker - at his best when playing behind someone - dropping deep and wide to pick up the ball - and attacking the space behind a front man - he's also very good at bullying the fullback in the air when the cross comes from deep But he's not good at leading the line, bullying centre backs or playing on the shoulder of ten centre backs He was always at his best when playing with Barnard or Connolly in front of him - as one of the front 2 when we played 4-2-2-2 or in the hole when we played 4-2-3-1 with Lallana and Puncheon out wide (depending on how you saw that formation). He has lost a bit of pace and stamina this season - but mostly the way we are playing doesn't suit him. The front three were great against Fulham - but that was partly because all three were on fire and a Fulham were so bar I'd be tempted to play 4-3-2-1 against Palace with Jayrod up front, Lallana and a Gaston behind him with a license to roam, Cork sitting in front of the defence and Morgan and Davis pressing. Lambert would be on the bench if we needed to go more direct in the late stages - going 4-2-3-1 or switch to a diamond midfield to keep the ball and kill the game - in both cases he'd replace Gaston (not sure he can last more than 60 mins or track back and win the ball) At the moment we dont really have the players to work a 4-3-3 but that is what we are trying to do - and we don't seem to have a plan B either
  3. Should have bought him instead of Osvaldo
  4. To be honest I was expecting us to lose this game. I was hoping we'd give it a real go - but suspected we wouldn't - and surprise surprise we didn't. I was going to watch the game but when I saw the line up I thought I'm not gong to bother - the club's not going to so why should I - went shopping instead. As for the result It simply told us what we already know - we have no strength in depth - outside of one or two positions - ok maybe 3 - we don't have any players we can bring in to the first 11 that will keep the standard high enough. As it is we are missing a centre forward, a left back and a right winger from the first team. We just don't have any strength on the bench outside of right back. The Sunderland starting 11 even with 9 changes was simply better than the second string team we can put out. We may just about have the better first 11 but they have a stronger squad. It's either our first 11 or nothing for us I'm afraid. Instead of paying £15 million for a prima doña from Italy and £12 million for someone from the Scottish Premier League we need to be buying players fro between £6-8 million that will give us some strength in depth. Maybe we're happy to wait for the kids to develop but if so we are going to be treading water for a while - and still vulnerable to a minor injury crisis wrecking our season
  5. I'd swap him with Citeh for Jack Rodwell. Big Vic has only had about 3 good games for us - he's still struggling with the pace of the English game and he's not exactly a great passer of the ball. I thought he'd taken a few games to adjust - and was playing OK - but then the last couple of games before he got injured he was terrible again. Jack Cork is a much better players for us - and the way we play. Yet another players fails to step up from Scottish football shocker! The Scottish Premier League is like League One - but without the physicality!
  6. Danny Ings, Charlie Austin, Kieran Trippier, Henri Lansbury could all step up to the Prenier League
  7. Burnley would be mad to sell Danny Ings now - he could be the man whose goals get them promoted to the Premier League and that is worth far more than anyone will pay them for him
  8. Maybe the big surprise will be Pato for €15 million!
  9. That could just be because he's a Saints fan
  10. Clyne is so one footed that's not going to work - he has to play on the right Chambers of the two is probably a lot better on the left
  11. We still need a left back, centre forward and a right winger even if no one leaves the club in January.
  12. Sorry we're going to sell him to Roma for a couple of million when he cost us near £13 million! That's mad - we should hold on to him until tafter he World Cup and at least get our money back on him. That's assuming he's fit enough to play again this season.
  13. I have a feeling we'll see a few players leave before the end of January to reduce the wage bill and bring in some money to balance the books as the Liebherrs look to sell the club Osvaldo, Ramirez and Yoshida will probably be out of the door pretty quickly as all 3 seem to want to leave - Yoshida and Gaston to get regular first team football and Osvaldo as he doesn't seem to have settled - and for all 3 World Cup squad places are to play for I just hope we get our money back for them And if West Ham make us a stupid offer for Lambert we'll take the money - and he'll take the salary I think we'll also see Barnard, Sharp and Aaron Martin back in the first team squad until the end of the season - and a lot more of Guly And I wouldn't be surprised if Pochettino and his assistants follow Cortese out of the club after Saturday's game with us either getting a caretaker manager in or Les Reed taking over until the end of the season
  14. Anyone seen Paul Allen's yacht yet?
  15. Weren't we linked with Rodrigo - the Spanish Brazilian forward - the one who was on loan at Bolton - lazy summer
  16. Apparently Saints scouts are at the Benfica v Porto game. I wonder who they are watching? Rodrigo Moreno Machado perhaps?
  17. Your right I meant left back - Fox has to go and we need someone to provide cover for Shaw for now as he shouldn't be playing ever game. And if you've actually watched Saints lately you'd see we are desperate for a centre forward come striker who can finish things of in the box and lead the line. We also need pace up front and width on the right - something Zaha would give us. Lallana drifts in to the middle and plays as a number 10 meaning we have no one on the right. We should play him in the hole behind the striker and bring in a wide right forward.
  18. I'd like to see us go for a couple of players on loan as January is never the best time to buy the right players at a good price. That way if they make an impact we can look at signing them permanently in the summer. john Guidetti to give us the centre forward we need, Wilfiried Zaha to give us the right winger, pace and the ability to go past a man Ryan Bertrand to give us competition and cover at right back. All three of them need game time and been talked about as potential loans - and we need the players - and I'm sure we'd be a more attractive proposition as a destination for their parent clubs than most of the other clubs in the premier league. We're not challenging any if them for the top four, we play good football and we're not struggling at the bottom - yet. We also need a centre back but I think we are just going to have to buy one of them - Albert Botia or Hector Moreno from Spain would do dor me.
  19. There's something about a Danish journalist proving it somewhere by asking Kitson a load of questions which give it away
  20. I did it today - one senior and one U11 to two adult tickets - but I think you can only do it with season tickets You have to pay the upgrade cost and the ticket tax for buying on the day! Sometimes the ticket office staff have no idea how to do it though! But you can only do it at one of the ticket office windows - the ones marked 'customer services' You have to hand over your season tickets until after the game though
  21. It will be the B team - Jos, Maya, Fox etc - and we will lose against a good Burnley team
  22. I have to completely agree with you on that The crowd was embarrassingly quiet today - but that's because the team were awful for the first 5 - 10 mins and lost the crowd After that the first half was pretty even - but second half we basically gave up - and completely surrendered once Chelski scored We seemed to lose every 50-50 ball - and the 60-40 balls as well Sat at the back of the chapel stand today and from there it was obvious we lack real pace and movement up front - we need someone like Torres who really worked over our back 4 today and ripped them apart with his pace, aggression and movement By comparison JayRod was embarrassing Too often we were static on and off the ball - with no one to pass too Chambers was probably our best player today along with Cork - but he was at fault for one of the goals at least Ramirez is and was pointless - he should have come off of Lambert - and taking Cork off was asking Chelsea to score 2 or 3 more
  23. To be really successful in the premier league, play in Europe and/or have a good cup run you need two good players in each position. At the moment we don't - and too wait for the academy to fill those gaps could be a fatal mistake. Ideally your academy gives you a third player in each position. Added it that you need to bring young players through gradually - giving them the odd substitute appearance, then the odd game and then shirt runs in the team - coaching them all the time - but allowing them to build their confidence and match fitness, gain experience and get streetwise. Take left back at the moment - Shaw is obviously good enough to make the top class grade - but should he be playing week in week out at 17/18? No - not if you don't want him to pick up injuries and burn out before he hits his peak in mid 20s. But we simply don't have any cover for him - Fox is simply not good enough to play in the Premier League. We really need an early 20 something left back who is good enough to be our first choice left back to alternate with Shaw. Target will hopefully be good enough to step up next season as the third player - and maybe the second if we end up selling Shaw. If we do sell Shaw to a Chelsea I would take Bertrand in part exchange to be our first choice left back. In fact I'd ask Chelsea if we can have him on loan for the rest of this season - and not sell Shaw until the summer at the earliest. As for centreback Yoshida was good enough last season when given a run in the team so it would be Hooiveld I'd move on. It's a catch 22 as he needs games to get match fit. Hopefully we'll replace Jos with Astori in January. What we should have done though is bought someone like Caulker or Ilori in the Summer as it doesn't sound like Stephens or Turnbull are going to step up.

    Danny Fox

Fox is a truly terrible left back because he simply can't defend - he can't seem to tackle, when he gets forward he doesn't track back, his positioning is terrible, he drifts in to the middle all the time and he always seems to back off players and invite them to shoot or pass In the Championship it took teams 60 mins to work out he was useless - in the premier league it's takes teams 15 mins. Spurs were so bad it took them 25 mins I must admit when I saw the line up yesterday I thought we were going to loose 3-1 at the minimum. Garza, Jos and Fix are a fatal combination at this level. One of the biggest problems is neither Fox or Jos are very good at clearing the ball - they just head or hoof it forward when under any pressure so it comes straight back at us. A top class defender like Lovren will clear the ball to someone on the same team.
  25. He needs to go on loan to A League 1 or League 2 club to get some much needed experience and to be toughened up
