  1. UEFA Cup
  2. Nope - we want young hungry players who are going to get better. 21-24 ideally. Possibly up to 26 if they are going to really improve us. players who arent on massive salaries just because the played for a big club once. Not old ones on massive salaries. Players we can sell at 28 or 29 for a profit.
  3. One question - how come we got our 10 point deduction carried across to the next season - costing us a play-off place - and they didn't? OK two questions - how come its only -10 points when Luton and Leeds got -15 or more? They always seem to get away with it somehow!
  4. I think it's more a case of aap3 would willingly give it up - they probably didn't budget for promotion to the Premier League and as a business-to-business brand I don't really see what they get out of it
  5. If we're going to look at young players with potential in the lower leagues we should take a look at the following youngsters: Kieran Trippier for cover at right back Charlie Austin for cover at centre forward Tom Ince or Matt Phillips for right wing Martin Olsson for left back I'm not really aware of any good young centre backs out there I'd also take a look at John Guidetti at Man City and Josh McCrachan at Chelsea/Boro. And looking at Scotland Fraser Forster for goalkeeper and possibly Berim Kayal in midfield if he gets back to his pre-injury form. If we got a couple of these and added some real quality from Europe such as Biglia and Astoria I'd be very happy.
  6. Maybe but Saints having been looking around for a new shirt sponsor so maybe aap3 want out early - and Saints can probably get more money elsewhere with a bigger and better sponsor Also from what I hear I don't think we are going back to red and white stripes with the shirt
  7. The sponsor should change if nothing else - the deal with aap3 is up at the end if this season - and Saints have actively been looking for a new shirt sponsor. That's not to say aap3 wont renew if Saints can't find another sponsor.
  8. I think they need to win at least 2 of their last three games to stay up this season and that's only if Oldham fail to get more than one win and a draw out of their last 5 games. The most points they can get is 48 putting them level with Shrewsbury in 18 - who at the moment have +14 goal difference on Pompey. If the Skates lose on Saturday and Oldham win on Saturday and then draw on Tuesday night they are down on goal difference. That's how it looks to me
  9. Callejon from Real Madrid as he played under him at Espanyol Maybe one or two of the youngsters from Barcelona on loan as he's supposed to have a great relationship with Barca - players like Isaac Cuenca, Sergi Roberto, Marc Muniesa and Thiago Alcantara
  10. Oh for Saints sake give it up! Neither Sturrock or Hoddle were the answer - and anyway the problem was Rupert Lowe!
  11. Nope QPR were a bad team - but they sat back, defended deep and came for the draw - and snatched a win. Without Samba' size and Remy's pace they would have lost. We lost because plan A - pressing against a team set up like that doesn't work - and we didn't seem to have any plan B. we couldnt play through them so just resorted to playing the long ball to Rickie - but Samba had him in his pocket. It was obvious after 15 mins that we needed to change something - bring Jay Rod on and play him up front with Rickie in the whole and Gaston in a free role. That and tell our full backs to sit back and defend the long balls out from QPR. It didn't help that Fox can't defend! We really missed the left back and pacy right winger we should have bought in January as well though.
  12. We need to change the way we play a bit - or at least have a plan B. That and more of the played need to b on top of their game. I'd start with 4-3-3 and the pressing game - but play Foren at left back as supposedly he's played there before and tell our full backs to stay back and defend a little bit more so that we have always got three at the back: Boruc Clyne Fonte Yoshida. Forren Cork. Morgan Davis Ramirez. Rodriguez Lambert If that's not working we should switch to a 4-2-3-1 with Lambert in the hole behind Rodriguez - swap Puncheon for Davis and play Gaston and Puncheon out wide. But hopefully Norwich will actually come out and attack us so we actually have something to press!
  13. Barcelona don't counter attack - they press just like Espanyol did - and like we are trying to do. They take it to an extreme though - the full backs play like wingers and the centre backs push up into the opposition half. Real Madrid defended deep, crowded them out in the box and the counter attacked with the long ball to Ronaldo or Ozil and pace. It's why they lost 3-1 at the Nou Camp on Tuesday. Barcelona didn't seem to have a plan B either.
  14. Lets not run away with ourselves - Norwich away and Liverpool at home our both games we could win. Liverpool are not going to sit back and defend against us for a start. And Norwich are having a bad run of form and the pressure will be on them next week.
  15. Should have started with the same team that beat Man City. Lambert, Morgan, Lallana and Puncheon all had bad games. Fox was his usual terrible self in defence. Samba had Rickie in his pocket yet we kept playing it to him in the air. Rodriguez pace and drive made a real difference when he came on. He and Ramirez looked a real threat until we took a Gaston off. Pressing 4-3-3 football is not going to work against a team that sit back and play long ball on the break - there is nothing to press! And they packed the box so we couldn't get through them. We desperately missed a first choice left back and a pacey right winger today - 2 players most fans knew we desperately needed in January - thanks for not signing them Mr Cortese! Lets hope we start with Rodriguez and Ramirez out wide and Davis in the whole against Norwich - oh and Forren at left back
  16. Too much anti-Redknapp stuff - seemed to boost their fans and players - and not enough pro-Saints stuff. It played a part.
  17. I'm not convinced we have enough strength in depth to be honest. Luke Shaw is now our first choice left back - but he's too young at 17 to be playing every week. If he does he will burn out like so many before him. And we can't play Fox as he is a liability at this level - his positioning is just terrible. Hooiveld also looks to be out of his depth. I hope they both prove me wrong but so far they haven't. We've also got no cover for Cork and Morgan if one gets injured - or banned - and we need to play 2 holding midfielders as our defence judt isnt good enough - and we all know how great our run of form was at the start of the season without Cork in the team.
  18. It's just the defence that worries me
  19. With Fox and Hooiveld in defence we are always glint to conceded goals at this level - they are a mistake waiting to happen. I've never seen a full back leave so much space as Fox - it makes it easy for the opposition to get in behind us and puts so much pressure intone centre backs Hooiveld will crack every time. I'm also still to be convinced that Gaston wasn't anything more than a vanity signing at £12 million. Think how much better we'd be with Michu who cost £2 million and two £5 million defenders in the team.
  20. I'm hoping there's gong to be a left back coming in and one going out - but I have a horrible feeling I'm gong to be disappointed! We still need a first choice left back and a right winger just like we did in the summer. And probably another centre back as well
  21. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2270247/Our-parents-pay-tax-entitled-benefits-Couple-living-17k-handouts-say-working-minimum-wage-unfair.html Typical Skates? Discuss!
  22. Tandanari, Mayuka and Yoshida were all bought primarily for commercial reasons - to open up markets in Africa and Japan for sponsorship deals and generate revenue.
  23. There are some right idiots on here it has to be said!
  24. No it's that simple
  25. Oh yes there is! Most definitely there is!! Just to let you know Mr Cortese I am expecting Coutinho, Zarate and Biglia to be delivered in the next week just to sweeten the bitter taste I'd Adkins sacking. Not too mention another centreback!!!! And why do I have the feeling we will be playing 4-3-3 from now on - and that we'll see a few players leaving before the end of the month - particularly those that don't fit in with that set up. To be honest I am half expecting to see players like Puncheon and Lambert shipped out as they don't fit this system. If we'd stayed up and made this change in the summer it would have made a lot more sense - still would have felt bad about Adkins leaving - but I could understand the thinking behind it. Right now I just don't get it! at all!!
