Of all the pointless "debates" on this site, this is the most pointless. Belief in an intangible deity is a personal thing. That's the nature of a belief. It doesn't have to be justified or explained. It has nothing or do with anyone other than the person who holds that belief. Sure, there's no proof in the existence of the deity, its a belief. Religion, on an organised basis is somewhat different. It's a subscription to a deity of someone elses choosing, and often a belief in a scripture and sometimes an apparent prophet. If someone chooses to believe that stuff, that's a matter for them. It's possible to believe in a God that's not inposed by religion or a scripture. Millions do. It's a matter for them. If people like the congregation and support of a church, temple, mosque, whatever where they speak to what they believe is their God, then its a matter for them. All opinions contrary to the above come from people who believe that they have a right to express an opinion on others personal beliefs, such beliefs having nothing to do with them and no impact upon them. That attitude says more about those people, than the people or organisations they criticise. Live and let live people.

Yep, whilst the scientists haven't covered themselves in glory, the Reuters report makes it clear that the government have not used the resources at its disposal. We've failed to make use of countless testing facilities, not made contact with a uk ventilator supplier, stubbornly refused to participate in discussions with the EU, and failed to join in a mass EU purchase of ventilators. To what extent the government approach flows from the nature of the scientific input its hard to say, but we've not helped ourselves that's for sure.

There's no "best time" to catch a virus that's a potential killer. I've read your comments on this matter, and I haven't got a clue what your stance is. I think you're trying to say that most of us will get it any way so carry on. Is that your point? If not, what is it?

Nobody has disputed how vaccines work. In response to my comment that I leave my shoes outside rather than walking anything in, it appeared to be suggested by the fountain of knowledge Tim that it's OK as it'd be a diluted dose and may even give a natural vaccination. If that was being said, it's fecking stupid, as none of us know what is a "safe" dose - if it was that simple we'd all be getting a vaccine in our arse. If that wasn't what was being said, feck knows what point he was trying to make.

I'm not running through an inventory of my cleaning standards and approach. I'm happy that I'm keeping myself and my family as safe as possible. I take shoes off outside and leave them there and use just outside. A simple measure, and preferable to your DIY vaccination attempt.

So you're assuming that walking through virus droplets and transferring them to our homes presents a prospect of vaccination. I'd prefer to work on the assumption that it presents a risk of infection and act accordingly.

I'm surprised we aren't doing it. People cough outside, lands on road/pavement, stays there, people walk through it, tread it into house. I think people are underestimating how long the virus can live for.
