I don't rate Long but I can't see the pressing game working with Austin. He's a great finisher and his winner against Arsenal shows he has ability still. As he's here I've no doubt RH will use him.

Our wage bill is not an 'ancillary cost'. It is massive and represents our biggest expenditure item. Seeking to draw comparisons between our finances and those of our peers is pointless when you are unaware of our finances or theirs. The reality, contrary to popular belief, is that we have spent a shed load of cash on players, agents, wages etc thus its obvious that we are not rolling in cash. Whether other clubs are in the same position is irrelevant.

If course it doesn't, people always forget that. And wages. And running costs of the club. And tax. Etc.

Shocking player and by far the worst signing over the past couple of windows for me. I've not seen one sign of promise, or positive attribute. He looks slow, shows no skill, no movement or anything a decent player should.

You mean like £19m for Carillo, whatever it was for Hoedt and Moi etc? They were targets and we paid top dollar. The issue isn't money, nobody can seriously suggest we haven't splashed the cash, the issue is scouting players that are good enough. I'm not sure if Maehle or the guy playing in Greece would improve us.

Promes, apparently, is that it?! As for the remainder, we agree that we are able to sign players, and that we do so. That some players turn out to be rubbish is a secondary issue - more scouting than ambition/financial.

Yep, we've bought some players who have turned out to be poor acquisitions. However, that's a scouting issue, not a) an inability to secure deals and/or) an unwillingness to spend money on either transfer fees or wages. Those are the 2 big complaints / allegations from fans but both are invalid.

Agreed. I read countless posts on here saying that we penny pinch, and that we can't get deals done. On the flip side the complaint is that we have a bloated squad with players on too much money. The truth is that we do have too many players. We have them as we've got deals over the line. Additionally, we're stuck with certain players cos we over pay them. I agree that we need to be more responsible. The signs are that we are doing that at last.
