We shouldn't take advantage, I agree, but new entrants know what they're getting into. Whether we should up the salary to attract and retain talent is a separate issue, and fwiw, I think we massively underpay hospital medics.

And she'll retire with a pension with a transfer value of £1m + in today's money. In the private sector she'd have to be paying in a massive chunk of her salary to even get close to that. Roundabouts and swings to an extent, but I'm with you that the salaries aren't where they should be, but even the diluted pension under the 2015 scheme is excellent.

Train drivers, and everyone working on the railways are paid an eye watering amount for what they do. I read a while ago that the basic pay for the guys on the platform and ticket office is nudging £40k. Not sure which company it was, but high £30's k for flogging train tickets ain't bad. Then there's the tube drivers. Crazy money.

You were complaining on her behalf. Nurses, hospital doctors, teachers, and some other public sector workers, should be paid more, despite the fantastic pension. However, what they cannot do is qualify into that profession and then complain about the terms.
-
Surely she knew the salary structure when she took the job?

That's slightly better than his finding it amusing that people are eating themselves to ill health and early death.
-
Tdmicky, what's funny about this? What Turkish says about food is correct. The ultra processes shit that people eat is addictive and detrimental to their health mOr do you disagree? People make money out of the masses eating this shite and coming back for more, and from said people being obese and then unwell. Or do you disagree?

Cheers Del, really good watch. That fella knows what he's talking about. I hadn't known about that amazing experiment in the 1920's. The ADHD/food link is something that I'm coming round to /, and the outcome of the experiment will be interesting.

Thanks for posting that. Lots in there, and the views of an Israeli, with family in Israel, and who's been in the IDF, are views that count. Too many take away comments, but this passage tells me what is pretty obvious from the outside - Israel are past the point of interest in any political view, and that Palestinian lives are cheap and dispensable. "The sentiment that now prevails in Israel similarly threatens to make war into its own end. In this view, politics is an obstacle to achieving goals rather than a means to limit destruction. This is a view that can only ultimately lead to self-annihilation. The second reigning sentiment – or rather lack of sentiment – is the flipside of the first. It is the utter inability of Israeli society today to feel any empathy for the population of Gaza. The majority, it seems, do not even want to know what is happening in Gaza, and this desire is reflected in TV coverage. Israeli television news these days usually begins with reports on the funerals of soldiers, invariably described as heroes, fallen in the fighting in Gaza, followed by estimates of how many Hamas fighters were “liquidated”. References to Palestinian civilian deaths are rare and normally presented as part of enemy propaganda or as a cause for unwelcome international pressure. In the face of so much death, this deafening silence now seems like its own form of vengefulness". And another idiot has joined the laughing gang it seems.

They're fine gifts for sure, although an almond magnum is a finer gift still.

Temptation is sent to test us Whelk, and it's a test I fail whenever mash or roasties are an option.

Crisps are the food of the devil, but bloody lovely they are.

It's not a fat or a protein therefore it's a carb. Refined or unrefined, it's a carb and unless the body needs the calories, the body will store it as fat, and the insulin will make you crave food.
-
Yep. Most nutritionist and gp advised healthy diets are appalling. Bread, cereal, pasta is all carbs aka sugar. They all raise insulin levels and make us feel hungry pretty quickly. Fats and proteins fill us and provide slow release energy, and pretty much everything else is a type of sugar. A 3 egg omelette with a bit of cheese cooked in butter for breakfast will fill you until lunchtime, or a few massive scoops of full fat greek yoghurt and some berries. A huge bowl of cereals or load of toast won't. I look at the state of the masses and really feel for them. Cut the processed shite out, and eat as much single ingredient food as possible is all we need to do.

Not if we need the ABK £12m to be able to spend £15m.

Boom boom! The corny ones are the best ones cobber.

Yep. He feels very Mara esque to me. That said, if I had to pick this lad or Mara, I'd take this lad simply on the basis that I don't want to see Mara near our team again.
-
It looks like they've signed him again, but unless he's been registered with United this season as well, I think he can be registered elsewhere to play. Regardless, I'm not excited by having him.

True. What we don't want to see is the Ukrainians take a hammering here (and lose more vital gear) and this backfire.
-
I'm not sure anyone outside Russia or Belarus think that way mate. I just find it surprising that people convince themselves of what they want to believe. If you follow some foreign media outlets, including msm like CNN, or even Al Jazeera (they have no skin in the game in this dispute), you get a more open picture. I'd love Ukraine to be pushing Russia back and reclaiming their land, but they're struggling. This incursion into Russia could be a masterstroke, or we could see jets and missiles taking loads of Ukrainians and their gear out. Let's see what happens.
