Southampton 1-1 Arsenal - Match Thread
Saint Matty 76 replied to Saint Matty 76's topic in The Saints
There needs to be rotation somewhere with three in a week, and I don’t think either of the two missing out have provided much. I don’t think he “deserves” a start, but neither do a few who are getting them. -
It's the creative players more than anything. I agree we'll look much better with Lavia, but if the players behind Che consist of Moi & AA most weeks then we'll struggle to create.

A little less pressure on this after a much needed 4 points in the last two may play into our favour a bit. If we play as badly as we have over the past 5/6 games though, it should still be the end of Ralph. Lavia, ABK, and potentially KWP out(?) means I'd be surprised to see a Chelsea/United level performance, however. -
Off the back of a win, with a few players playing well off the bench. AMN ineligible so Diallo in who played brilliantly. Bazunu KWP - DCC - Salisu - Perraud JWP - Diallo Aribo - S. Armstrong - Edozie Adams Just a Europa midweek game for Arsenal, so you'd assume a few of their main players will have a full weeks rest.
-
Honestly. Couldn't believe my eyes watching us ping the ball around with ease for the last 5 minutes.
-
A terrible 2nd half but to their credit, they played out injury time brilliantly. What a weird fucking team we are. Start. Stuart. Armstrong.
-
Che, Salisu & DCC been very good. Incredible how poor AA & Elyounoussi are though.
-
Fuck off Elyounoussi. Stu been great since on.
-
Ref desperate to give them everything. Don't let them back in immediately for fuck sake.
-
Can’t believe they called that a poachers header, brutal. Lovely ball from Perraud, and well played from AMN & Elyounoussi in the build-up.
-
I actually met a bunch of Norwegians (they all had Elyounoussi shirts on, couldn't have been anything else...) in a bar after the game watching Pool/City and they couldn't believe how shit he was.
-
100%. That is a truly way below average team. Our two highlights of the season aren't even in the squad and our "best player" has been shit. Truly worrying.
-
Elyounoussi again ugh.
-
I'd go similar I think, if Che is out. Mara Edozie - Stu - Aribo
-
If Adams is out, other rumours are somewhat accurate and we line up something like this... A. Armstrong Walcott/Djenepo - Elyounoussi - Aribo AMN - JWP Perraud - Salisu - DCC - KWP Bazunu Would that team get out the Championship? Fucking hell. You'd only have Salisu, KWP & JWP as actual definite Premier League quality players.
-
It's a must win. 4 points from West Ham/Bournemouth and a bit less pressure going into Arsenal where I'd actually back us to perform. I think he gets the Arsenal game pretty much no matter what, but he has to go afterwards if we can't beat Bournemouth tomorrow. Anyone suggesting it'd be better for us to lose this game is embarrassing.
-
Seems like a good few of them are injured! Don’t agree though, think he’s been mediocre at best all season. Just set off. Two trains and a rail replacement bus to get down today, wonder if it’ll be worth it.
-
My Austrian friend thinks really highly of him, and thinks he's a certainty for the RBL/BVB job so isn't convinced we could get him. Reading up on his playstyle sounds quite similar to Ralph before we were shit, pressing traps & counter-press etc. Few of our players would have a heart attack trying to move the ball that quickly.

Joe Shields leaving? What the hell is happening???
Saint Matty 76 replied to stevy777_x's topic in The Saints
Thanks for spending £50m on kids from City, Joe. -
In terms of the teams we’d rather not pick up points, it’s probably two good results if they stay like this.
-
Let's not be silly now.
-
Where the fuck is KWP? That's like four attacks he's not even been on the screen?
-
The two WP's have both been absolutely shit this season.
-
Hope this is the last one without Lavia because Diallo really is not good enough.
-
Always been a Ralph fan but you can't lose to three terrible teams in a row like this, on top of the dreadful performances beforehand. Some absolutely awful finishing costs us the most today but it's still another loss. Changed players, changed staff, time to change the manager. Continue coasting like this and we're gone.
