Agree totally. Had we appointed Hoddle we would at least have had a decent football coach. The fans (a vocal minority) were a major reason that we appointed Sturrock who was totally out of his depth and who has now found his level in a struggling League 2 outfit. If Sturrock was the choice of the board, they were horribly naive. The fact the Lowe allowed it to happen makes me wonder if he wanted failure to prove a point. The vocal minority were pawns who I am afraid did not act in the best interests of the club.

How ridiculous ! This is an open forum in which people can express opinions (within the rules of the board). To stop people speaking their minds and holding different opinions is stupid and would make for a very dull forum.

It's been quiet on the transfer front pretty much for the last four months. Just people talking things up. I was hoping for our intent to be shown over the summer with significant transfers but it is clear our ambition is to secure our place in this division, something that we will do, nothing more and nothing less. Next year we will build a bit more. Remember this is only the third year of a five year plan.

Ignore the past at your peril. Just because things have changed does not mean we can ignore the unhappier episodes of the past. It might be that some would like the past to be forgotten because they find their own role in it rather uncomfortable.

Wrong. I passionately believe that the failure to re-appoint Hoddle was the root cause of our decline. There is a lot that went on at this time and there is a murky scene under that stone that will one day be revealed !

Definitely not ! If we make the two key signings that people think we will make, we are almost certain to finish higher than 17th and possibly make the play offs ! I hope we do make the signings as we will need them in the winter and spring months !

Just for you Kraken, you sound like a stuck record If you look at my post history they are very diverse. I am mostly criticised for commenting on the Hoddle issue in 2004 but my posts were actually much more diverse. On this note I see that Gary Neville recently described Hoddle as an outstanding England coach with some unorthodox ideas. Still shame we appointed Sturrock, from that moment we put our premier neck on the guillotine !

Gorks and a CF could be the difference between a play off place and lower-mid table position. The team is very good at the moment, but unless we are very lucky with injuries and suspensions we will need that extra depth. This should have been sorted unless the plan was always to get the players in late, for a good reason. Lets wait and see this week !

Well,lets see what happens this week. You sound like a stuck record, like many posters. First of all we were going to sign in late June, then 1st of July, then early July, then mid July, then late JUly, then early August, then just before the start of season then at the start of season then mid August, then late August, maybe a loan after the end of transfer window, then January transfer window, maybe June 2012, or late June 2012, or end of June 2012, or early July 2012, def late JUly 2012 etc etc etc etc.

Sensible comments and in perspective. We certainly will finish in a comfortable 17th or 18th.

Good argument here and very much understand your sentiments. However, if we had a chance of going up, due to a few key signings, it would seem a bit short sighted not to make the signings. If we could get into the Premiership the money from even a short stay in this division would make the gamble worthwhile. Furthermore, if we believe that we have the backking of the Liebherr's it seems a case of speculate to accumulate.

Have we been crowned champions already and have the rest of the clubs decided that there is no need to play out the fixture list ?

It is an opinion. You don't have to agree but it is a valid statement. Football has always been about opinions and this is what makes it such a passionate game with passionate supporters. I offer my opinion, what is wrong with that ? we have played for games, the story of the season is far from over, there are many chapters to go and many twists and turns. FYI, we have mad a brilliant start, NA deserves the credit for this, but there is a ling season ahead.

What's up with you, i have made a perfectly valid statement. If you read the thread carefully there are some that would agree. We have made a great start but to it is obvious that we have some areas of weakness that have not been addressed. If we begin stuttering and slip down the league it will be annoying to say the least after a very good start.

Absolutely imperative we get a CF and CB if we are to really make an impact in this league over the course of the season. Ideally we should have sorted this out some time over the summer. It would be a shame now to lose the momentum provided by our great start.

Overseas at the moment and have just got to an internet cafe. What a very pleasant surprise. I have to eat humble pie and am happy to do so. So far I am proved wrong, but at the very worst we look likey to secure our place in this league. Who know it may be more.
