I'll have a think about this over what will be a torturous Xmas eve meal with the family but i'm suprised no-one else has thrown in the 1-0 vs Leeds in 2007 Just because it really put the final nail in their coffin as well as putting us in the driving seat to make the playoffs - I still remember it was coupled with Hull equalising against Stoke which helped us and hindered them just as much. I really hate Leeds.

...and that is the teamtalk i think pardew has to give.

Hopefully the benefit of the Brighton result will be that we never take a single game for granted this season. This is gonna be a very tough game, make no mistake. We expect to win We don't expect to concede and i'm not sure how we'll handle it. We've got a big crowd who expect an easy win We've just been defeated after a long winning run which could shake us up Pressures on lads, nows the time you're gonna be tested.

I'd keep Bart in goal for quite a bit, people easily forget about how good he was at the end of the 06/07 season when we were in the hunt for the play-offs and that he only really lost his confidence and place in the team thanks to that game against Palace when we lost 4-1 and he unfortunately took the blame for conceding goals when he had i believe to this day, the worst Saints defence infront of him i've ever seen.

Beckford would be a great signing I just can't see us having enough appeal to a player who wasn't really that keen on staying with Leeds as he believes he's playing below himself. He's about 27 or so now and I really cannot for the life of me seeing him sign himself up to what probably will be at least another 1 and a half seasons in the third tier of english football when Premiership clubs are interested in him.

Beckford IS unrealistic people.

seconded, ban the *****

Seconded, besides, we're ok up front What we really need is a pacy, athletic centre-back to compliment Jaidi/Trotman who IMO are too similar. Our biggest weakness this season has been our vulnerability to counter-attacks and whilst yes we're doing well at the moment. We aren't there yet, strengthening is still needed. Simeon Jackson would be a great addition and I think would compliment Lambert really well if we could get him, but at the moment I don't think up front is really a priority. Would be a great signing though and would definately give us the best front two in the league.

Fuels my belief that if we're gonna beat this team we really need to attack them. Sitting back against Beckford and co. would be suicide, really having a go at them will hopefully take them and the crowd by suprise

Is Schneidlerin injured for Saturday?

Cheers

Is this the first leg or does it go straight to pens after 90 mins?

Scared the **** out of teachers and the like by being one of those creepy children with too much knowledge and intelligence.

A good win, and obviously we're all delighted with the clean sheet as well we should be. But lets not get too carried away, from a STH who been at a few away games as well; that was definately the worst team we've played all season.
-
Glad to see that a player I believe to often be an unsung hero when he's on his game being appreciated. If he can add just two things to his game GOALS and CONSISTENCY He'd be a player that could stay with us right up to Premiership level.

Come on boys, behave yourselves, keep your heads and there might even be yet more goals in this for us

lol funny...most of the Poles hate Rasiak -the media over there bashed him so bad that he now no longer does interviews with any of the Polish media

Forget about signing strikers lets sort out the bloody defence!

Yeah I kinda gave up on the play-offs last week against Brighton and actually had serious doubts after the 2-2 against Orient, where Lamberts brace really did paper over a hell of a lot of cracks there, especially in defence, to be honest we were shocking then as well. The OP has pretty much summed up my feelings for the season. I'd like to see us try and make comfortable mid-table, but hey, if we finish more than 10 points away from the play-offs and don't get relegated - then the 10 points have been meaningless and our punishment inflicted on a wasted season anyway (just to put a positive spin on it all) I think we should definately aim to finish on a high though, just to try and send out a message that we're really up for it next season and also to attract a few more players in over the summer. This team will take a while to gel, but I think Pardews doing ok and I don't see relegation as much of a threat if I'm honest.

I'm saying that Trotmans not bad but Jaidi and him are too similar (and Jaidi sucks) so we have no pace at the back so whilst I think Trotman can do a job, with Jaidi he becomes totally useless.
-
Jaidi is terrible and whilst Trotman would be ok with a more athletic partner at the back they both end up as a terrible partnership, Hardings great and Murtys ok but really only 1 out of our 4 is that good. We know what we need in January, splash the cash please Mr Liebherr
-
Basically the problem was that the spine of the team didn't really show up Davis was pretty poor and should have saved their 2nd goal, as well as done something about the cross that almost went in off the post. Trotman and Jaidi especially were godawful and caught on the counter-attack too easily Schneiderlin and Hammond were just nowhere and totally lost the midfield battle and Lambert really did nothing apart from score the penalty. So despite good performances from Harding, James, Lallana, Antonio etc. we couldn't manage anything decent as the spine of the team just didn't show up

Them: New manager, big scalp, full allocation of noisy away fans Us: A lot of easy wins, occasionally coming away with a point or even all three when we hadn't actually played that well. Players confident of getting out of the relegation zone but probably not really having much hope of a play-off place. They wanted it more. Simple as.
-
Lambert should be disappointed if he fails to score in a game
Rasiak-9- replied to NickG's topic in The Saints
I wouldn't worry about it putting too much pressure on him. Pardew is a good man-manager and I'm sure he put a lot of positive spin on the way he said it, letting him know just how good he is and how much he really is capable of. -
In other words, if God were disproved tomorrow, would you then think rape and murder were totally acceptable?
