Fully deserved and our first proper replacement for Gareth Bale really. Looks like a great player who could stay with us right up to a promotion push at the top end of the championship. Keep it up Dan, your doing great.

We desperately need pace and skill up front as well as a player for Lambert to play the ball to with his flick-ons and neat touches. So Davis Thomas - Jaidi - Trotman - Harding Lallana - Schneiderlin - Hammond - Mills Waigo - Lambert (I know Lallana's not a great wide player but with the forwards pretty much sorted and us having Mills on the left giving us a bit of symettry and balance he should do ok - he tends to be quite a ballsy little player too, who does better against the bigger teams) Either way, we simply have to change the strikers, Lambert, Paterson and Saga have scored 3 in the 6 games from open play in the league so far. Which is ****ing appalling.

"I'm calling for it now" being an option - not an opinion of mine. I just thought it'd be a good idea to clarify things a bit as to where we stand as a fanbase in terms of amount of time we give him.

Could someone make a new thread and a poll How many games without a win would it take for you to call for Pardew's head? I'm calling for it now 7 8 9 10 11 12 cos there has to be a limit somewhere, although of course i'd say we should give him time (and don't dismiss the idea we wont go another 6 games without a win)

The corners really are so ****ing harmless its embarrassing. Its gonna be even more frustrating now that we've actually got some height and heading ability in there (Hammond, Trotman, Lambert, Thomas and Jaidi from next week). All we need is a respectable pacy cross and we'll have a chance.

Funny thing is I think we're only 2 or 3 players away from having a decent promotion-chasing team but we do need to sort things out pretty sharpish. Namely 1) Corners Lallana's corners are not professional-standard. They're the sort of quality that any amateur could casually chip in. Hanging the ball up in the air is exactly what a defender wants and what an attacking player can't deal with, as you can't put any power or direction on 'em. Notice that when we do make contact with a corner the header is inevitably too weak as theres no pace on the ball. 2) Width from the strikers The wingers I thought today did alright to be fair, The lack of width was from the strikers who were both far too central. Lamberts a target-man so thats fine but Paterson is as well, so inevitably they don't work well together. N'Diaye hopefully will solve this problem. 3) Beating players We just can't seem to dribble past players for ****. Lallana's got a quick turn on him but when was the last time he ran at players and successfully went past them like they're not there AND not get caught up by the defender? 4) Movement I lost count of the number of times Hammond, Schneiderlin and even Thomas when going forward either played a square pass or had a hopeful bash at goal because none of our attacking 4 players (wingers and strikers) made a run that gave them a chance to play a through-ball. When was the last time we played a quick one-two as well? There needs to be far better movement off the ball. 5) Shooting Hammond's shots looked dangerous but ultimately if you don't hit the target they're completely harmless. Thomas and Schneiderlin could only tickle it at goal and Lallana never finds the confidence to shoot either. Shooting practice has got to be in order. You need to have the ability to hit the top corner from within 20-25 yards if your an attacking player. Sort these things out and I think we'll be very much on our way, as the defence and keeper is pretty much fine. Whilst the results are terrible, I think we'll be ok, but as I say I think promotions not really possible not out of lack of ability, but because the damage is done from the -10 and **** start. Still, we're not far off being a decent side, we just need to sort those points out and I think we'll be fine
-
Yeah the defence is pretty much sorted, in as much as Davis Thomas - Jaidi - Trotman - Harding is a good enough defence for a promotion-chasing team in this league. We just need to sort out our wingers and strikers really. If PWN'd (lol at his abbreviation) is decent then really all we need are two decent wingers and we're pretty much sorted. The wins will come and whilst the results are disappointing I really don't feel we're threatened by relegation at all.

his song has GOT to be N'DIAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYE will allllwaaaaaaays looooooove youuuuuuuu it just CANNOT, NOT be

Hmm, of course a signing has to be registered to the FA by 5pm but could it be possible that there are aspects of the deal that can be settled after the registration? ...maaaaaaybe? meh it'll probably (hopefully) be Jaidi which is cool i guess. He's just the ticket for this league and whilst getting him in doesn't involve monies its a decent signing

I've been calling out Blacktrick Agyemang for ages! He's a decent player you lot - we need some friggin pace up front and from what i remember he's pretty tonk as well -
I wouldn't look so much at our inability to keep clean sheets but at our inability down the other end of the pitch. Thats 4 goals in 5 games, one from a corner and one from a penalty. We can't rely on keeping clean sheets to win games.

This is what i always say about Lallana if your a dedicated attacking-midfielder essentially given no defensive responsibility then its YOUR JOB to make sure we find that killer ball/cutting edge/ability to break down the defence. Just keeping the ball isn't good enough If your the attacking-mid and we aren't turning our possession into chances, its YOUR fault.
-
Let me guess, he paused, thought about shooting, thought about playing a through-ball, thought about attempting to dribble past the defenders ...but in the end just couldn't make his mind up and laid it off to the full-back
-
pssh - even then Saga's goal vs Preston was an angled shot where he had to turn the defender. It wasn't like sheer pace as he raced through, passing it into the net one on one. I'm not just saying this as an example because i think those type of goals look nice but because it highlights our lack of pace and lack of ability to find a through-ball!
-
Someone fast Seriously When WAS the last time Saints scored a goal with a striker racing through one on one before slotting it home?
-
We'll now definately lose the last time we won a game having been equalised against was against Sheff United in 07/08
-
more like we're saints and by this reasoning save our best performances for the most meaningless games.
-
Completely fake, no digestion at all. The hand and foot are basically in perfect condition and just a bit dirty. If this was real then the croc would have had to have been killed hours after eating someone. and even then there'd be more blood around
-
To answer the OP two words: Leicester City St. Mary's and the Walkers' are arguably the two most similar stadia in Britain and you only have to look at their home record last season to see that it didn't cause a problem for them.
-
Leave Lallana back and let one of the full backs take 'em? I'd rather have Harding go forward into the area for the addition of his height. Lallana is pretty wack with his deliveries though and we're still damn harmless from set-peices in general
-
Racist. ...but seriously, how can you possibly say that? He didn't get beaten in the air once and whilst his distribution wasn't great thats not something i care about particularly. If he can just lump it then thats fine. I remember him making several tackles under pressure where he had the composure to shield the ball back to Davis or at least play a composed clearance, whereas Thomas would no doubt have panicked. I just wish he could have scored that bloody header though!
-
Well Hammond and Trotman looked like good signings so I guess thats a step in the right direction. We just need some creativity and attacking threat. Theres too much of a gap between what is now a decent defence + central-midfield and the target man and wingers. GET RID OF ****ING LALLANA He can't beat players, pussys out of taking players on and plays a square ball, can't shoot, can't play a through-ball. Total overrated ****.
-
Head says a worrying 2-0 defeat by a better team despite said opposition being comprised of inferior players Heart says we'll blow 'em away a la Preston last year - a great win completely out of nowhere Can't see us winning narrowly or just shading it though. 1) We simply cannot retake a lead and 2) we really just can't cope with conceding a goal at any point
-
Well I really don't agree with the phrase "great players" Davis - true, great keeper Harding - fair enough, very good Murty - not bad Lambert - brilliant Hammond - we haven't seen him play Trotman - ditto Mellis - didn't look great against Swindon in fairnes
