  1. I don't mean to be pessimistic but I left slightly disappointed we didn't win, despite the fact we didn't play at all well, which has got to be a good sign. We really were terribly unlucky with things today, the ref, the ball not dropping for us, the manner of their goals, yet we still came away with a point. Just frustrating as we could have spent these next two weeks outside the relegation zone had we got the win. Anyhoo. We do still need to sort things out in defence. The goals we conceded were poor and Jaidi/Trotman are just two slow to work as a partnership. The fact that we don't have a pacy defender to cover causes them to panic at times it seems (e.g. Trotman's own goal) and if we do want to get promotion, then most of the wins we'll need shouldn't need more than two goals. Mnyeah - kinda thought we should have won it...not on the basis of the performance but on the basis of the utter ****e we were playing
  2. Maybe if we were to get promotion and Leeds ****ed it up and lost again in the playoffs we could nab him at the end of the year....but even then its a very long shot. Simeon Jackson though I think is definately a player we could seriously take a look at
  3. S'a nice question cos tbf to Pards its very hard to choose. Lambert / Hammond / Trotman / Jaidi is a great spine to the team and pretty much what we've always needed But.... I've gotta plump for Dan Harding, he's been consistent, put hard work in (even when we were struggling hard at the start of the season which is a real marker of a good player) and honestly I think he's probably playing below himself, as he's without a doubt a high-level c/ship player, yet doesn't have any sort of arrogance about that. Gives it his all, and has the talent and ability to get forward as well as keep his winger in his pocket. Top stuff Pards - Top stuff Dan
  4. Hmm. I don't think the lowest point can really be after the takeover as at that point we knew we had a club that was definately in existence. I'm gonna go for Sheffield United at home. Them having 10 men All time lowest crowd at St. Mary's Them getting the last minute winner immediately after our last-minute equaliser. Generally cold, miserable day in midweek. Only time I've genuinely wondered if it was all worth it.
  5. Calm the **** down guys. Its three wins and we're still in the relegation zone. Its not doom and gloom, we're making major improvements but theres a long long way to go yet guys.
  6. Wotton does well in a 5 man midfield as he's decent defensively but offers absolutely nothing on the ball or going forward. So when alongside Morgan (very much a technical ball-player) and Hammond (box-to-box), all three are able to sorta cover for each others weaknesses and accentuate their own strengths, and as mentioned before once the midfields in order it allows the creative attacking talent the freedom to shine and score goals.
  7. Hmm i'm kinda worried MK Dons will prove a very tough test actually. They really don't concede many goals at all. We've gotta hit them early and let 'em know who's in charge right from the off.
  8. WOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAH *very slight pause* ADAM LALLAAAAAAANA (to the tune of sex on fire) - simple and easy and everyone can join in
  9. It definately can be done, but i fear we may well be running out of games already especially after the bad start we had. However if we can get a couple of runs of 5/6 wins on the bounce before Christmas I may start to believe
  10. I'd actually go the other way and praise Saints going forward, I don't think we really have been conceding too many goals to be quite frank. But of course if you lose 1 or 2 nil you tend to criticise the defending for the goals you concede. Considering these past three games we've finally been able to score two or more goals from open play - which we failed to do in the first 9 games of the season my main praise would be to the strikers
  11. Always thought he was absolutely crap last season and at the start of this as well, but even before his scoring streak I was glad to see that Pardew was clearly getting far more out of him than Poortvliet and Wotte did. Glad to be proven wrong. Keep it up Adam
  12. Two very good firsts achieved; 1. Away win 2. Sequence of wins on the bounce Delighted to see that we've realised that if the other team equalises, we too are allowed to score a winner
  13. Good win but we did play a very poor side today, i'll reserve judgement for a fair while
  14. This threads a bit like saying I'm a better footballer than Wayne Rooney if I score more goals in a season for my amateur club than he does in the Premiership.
  15. We need someone of the ilk of that Chris Dickson that played for rovers the other night, pacey but always hungry, a real shift-and-shoot sort of player
  16. Look, of COURSE we all want to stick with a manager but ffs the manager has to be GOOD!
  17. 1 win in 10 games Worse than at this stage last season Current points ratio worse than all of last season A decent amount of game played Failure to score more than 2 goals in a game 1 goal from open play from our £1 million striker Relegation form See the only argument from the apologists seems to be "but it will get better and you can't KNOW that it won't" Its kind of like the argument for the existence of god - "you can't disprove what i'm saying so therefore it has 50/50 credence with what you're saying"
  18. mm - I wouldn't count your chickens yet, I'm sure Reading and Wigan lost 8 games in a row at some point and managed to stay up, not at the start of the season though. As I said on another forum, wait till they fail to win at home against the Stokes, Wigans, Burnleys, Hulls and Wolves in the league before you start celebrating, there are some very poor teams in the Premiership this season.
  19. Fair play to all the travellers - sing your hearts out and hopefully the team will return the favour with a win
  20. Someone said that apparently two points a game will get us onto 74 points - probably enough for the play-offs. So whilst its gonna be tough its certainly achievable. I'm still hopeful for the Rovers game, don't forget we still haven't lost at home in the league since the 2-3 against Charlton last season.
  21. See this is the trouble Nearly all of our foreign policy ****s these people off. Intervening in Iraq where millions were slaughtered by an evil dictatorship ****ed these people off. Our very presence in the "holy land" to protect the lives of innocence ****s these people off. non-muslim women not wearing burkhas ****s these people off. how far do you pander to their demands?
  22. Of course the question there would be how DO you counteract them then? I'd argue that in some circumstances "tolerance" and "sympathy" can be the worst things possible. Do you think every single German in 1933-1939 really hated jews, slavs etc. and wanted them to be exterminated? Do you think all and every single one of them were right behind Hitler and the Nazi's during their rise to power? Course not but the problem was whilst the majority or at least not every single one of the German people probably didn't honestly want a genocide to take place; they DID sympathise with the Nazi feelings of being oppressed and hurt by the war guilt clauses, being ashamed of their nationality and as a result tolerated their far-right, highly nationalist views. Blunt truth? At some point, tolerance and symapthy really do have to go out the window and make way for "THAT is an unpardonable sin and YOU must be stopped" Now - intimidation and seperation of asians or indeed anyone who doesn't meet a given criteria of "Englishness" I don't think is the way to handle things at all. But something has to be done, and a head-in-the-sand approach is just as bad.
  23. I think this is basically the thing I'm a natural cynic, rebel and sceptic, so of course it didn't work for me as I couldn't help but want to prove him wrong. The trick of the film isn't that he can show you a film and say stuff that physically prevents you from moving, by cutting off brain patterns or whatever The trick of the film is convincing you that you WANT to stay put. That this will be a fulfilling/enjoyable/weirdly fun experience that'll be way better than concentrating on proving him wrong. I don't think theres a single person who really didn't want to be affected by the video or who conciously tried not to be but was overpowered, but I think that what Derren did manage to do is convince people to essentially choose staying put over getting up.
  24. He's played in the Serie A, scoring goals against clubs such as Juventus He's got 15 caps for one of the respectable African countries with a decent footballing pedegree. The credentials entail a decent level of ability.
  25. We definately are improving it has to be said. We still need to sort out a few things though 1. Someone else has to take corners from the left, Lallana played well but he simply hasn't got a good enough delivery on him (which is criminal considering we've now got a fair bit of height in the box 2. Lloyd James isn't really good enough, always ends up as a bit of a passenger when in midfield; he doesn't beat players, score goals, play through balls or tackle. 3. Lambert needs support. Again he was far too isolated and although he won his flick-ons we had no-one running onto them, which has translated into... 4. A very worrying lack of goals. 5 in 7 games is terrible and never scoring more than 1 in any one game isn't good enough. That really has got to improve if we're to get out of the relegation zone. BUT positives were there showing improvement since the start of the season: 1. Mills on the left is brilliant and certainly helps balance the midfield being left-footed. 2. The defence is basically sorted, especially once Jaidi's fit as lets face it he is better than Perry.
