Most Notts County fans are up in arms about this. Similar reaction to when we sacked Pardew on their MB.

''Just thought of another point. Could we have our game moved to the Friday, Sunday or Monday as Bournemouth are also at home??'' lol

That was a great win, we weren't at our best today and i thought Oldham made a real game of it and were setup really well. The first half was pretty forgettable bar the first 15mins and the last min, we struggled to get any pressure built because Oldham were pressuring us at every opportunity and we kept giving away silly passes when we should have just kept the ball sensibly. 2nd half was a bit better, but i didn't feel we would win it until a change was made as we lacked any real spark. OxO gave us that, their full back didn't have a chance of catching him and the way he glided past a couple of their defenders for his goal was brilliant. He's a proper talent. Good performances from Fonte today and Seaborne (who has been faultless under Adkins) Butterfield was excellent too i felt, Richardson has a real fight on to get into this team...and also Davis, a great save at the end. That's the sort of 3 points we've been crying out for, didn't play well, came from behind and won. That's that hoodoo off our back and i can see the drive and motivation coming back into certain players. Now all we need is some away consistency...then we'll be flying.

Official portsmouth statement:
-
He is a good player, one of the best in his position at this level. He showed that last year when he was in form and playing in a confident, winning team. It will come again.
-
Gareth Bale ran our team most weeks tbh, from left back and at 17 years old, that's extraordinary tbh
-
Same as what others have said - glad i got to see him play in red and white. He will be a world star for years to come.
-
It's a shame the rest of the spurs team are showing him up, but this is Bale's level.
-
Bit of an odd one, another of our players not seemingly good enough for our L1 team is picked up by a club in a higher league... http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2189857,00.html

He has been a dead man walking for a little while, he has done such a bad job there. Nice to see him step down with dignity though. It's **** or bust for them this season. If they don't go up this year then they'll end up like us, charlton, norwich, leeds etc - staring L1 down the face.

A critical appraisal of the first quarter of the season.
S-Clarke replied to 1976_Child's topic in The Saints
It's too early to say what will happen, but we cannot afford many more defeats now if we want to mount any sort of challenge. We've made this season unnecessarily hard for us, but that's the way we love to do things i guess. The P'boro and Swindon game today sums up this league IMO -i don't think we'll see any run away leaders, it'll be pretty close throughout - but we need to make sure that we're in the mix and it'll help if we can string more than 2 frigging wins together. Next games coming up - Oldham H - Notts County A - Daggers - H If we can get 3 wins out of those we'll be on 24 points and in the top 6 with any luck, then we're back in there.....and we then head into fixtures with P'Boro and Brighton. So it could setup quite nicely come a months time. -
rubbish game, glad that's over. bad day for us results wise too. Worrying times.
-
everything about us today has been totally and utterly ****.
-
game over i reckon. Let's just keep the score down, they're rampant.
-
off the line. - puncheon vollys over the bar.
-
davis keeping us in this.
-
we sound panicky and all over the place at the back. really worrying, sounds awful.
-
they've scored. been all hudds so far, could be a long afternoon.
-
Hudd's squad is quite strong too Huddersfield: Bennett, Peltier, Gudjonsson, P. Clarke, Kay, Pilkington, Johnson, Ridehalgh, Carey, Novak, Lee. Subs: Colgan, N. Clarke, McCombe, Arfield, Atkinson, Garner, Rhodes.

What a great performance, I could have watched us play like that all night - we were great. From the KO we played at a high tempo with quick once touch triangles and players running into clever bits of space, Tranmere didn't have a clue how to handle us. It's great to see Lambo score from open play, I just had the feeling that his 2 goals last week could kick start him - and it may have done. He was involved alot today but my MOTM goes to Gully - what a player he is. First real look i think anyone has really had, but he's way too good for this league on that showing. His movement and touch were of a higher division and if we can get him playing like that consistently i doubt many teams will be able to contain him - looks a class player. The movement he made to cross for the 2nd goal was brilliant. Chappers and Hammond in midfield seemed to work well, Hammond has stepped his game up massively, he's playing like a captain now - but it helps to have a midfielder in front of him (chappers) bursting forward and getting into the box. I thought he gave us a completley different dimension. Defensively we were untroubled, Kelvin could have sat back in an armchair for 90mins if he wanted. He didn't have a single save to make. Overall it was a pleasure to watch us today and if that's a sign of what's to come then it won't be long before we're top of this league.

You've already said that, and saying it twice doesn't make it any more valid.
-
he's away....with wales. This is a good signing, along with Antonio and hal-robson kanu this is one of readings promising players. Very quick, strong and powerful. If you want a comparison he's kind of like a young Patrick Agymang - i've seen him play once or twice.
-
At stages in the game yesterday i felt i saw glimpses of him from last season. He's definitely improving, slowly yes - but he's getting there. Look back at the clips from the first 30mins and you'll see most of our good play revolved around him, his hold up play and bringing others into play was very familiar - but he's just not getting the opportunities in front of goal at the moment. You don't drop him though because he's a 30 goal striker at this level and he will always come good. Just be patient, Adkins is doing some good stuff fitness wise. I bet you anything that those 2 penalties will take the weight of his shoulders, because he has been playing with that burden of not having scored for a few games.

Actually at this stage last season Norwich had the same points total as us (they had a shocking start last year), it was Leeds and possibly Huddersfield/Colchester that were up pushing for 2nd. But we are lucky there haven't been any teams consistently winning this year - possibly only Bournemouth and brighton being the most consistent pair, but they're not anything special.
