  1. ''we were lacking a little bit of quality as we had no Puncheon and no Lallana, that was a big hole for us. It looks obvious that we are going to need some cover in those areas for when those two are not involved.'' "We don't say anything about players that we are interested in, and I don't want to comment on players that other people have mentioned because that is nothing to do with us. The only thing Southampton fans need to know is that when we come out with a message you can be sure it is a true message. "We've been watching the market, there's not been much movement and we are trying not to pitch in too early as a better player may come available and we miss him. It's about timing, the fans shouldn't get too concerned, I know they are waiting for us to pitch in, but hopefully we will do that in the next few weeks when a lot of managers will be doing the same thing." just relax, pard's knows what he's doing and what we need.
  2. What a surprise, the normal culprits going OTT over a result that means sod all. Remember our pre-season under Jan and co 2 seasons ago and that fantastic performance v West Ham? That really set the tone for the season I'm sure you'll all agree. What about that huge 12-0 win over Svarstad, in the buildup to the 2008/2009 season? Again, we really showed Crystal Palace what we were made of that opening day. Draw, Lose, Win - these games do not matter. We will get promoted this year, i'm sure of it and all these stupid OTT posts will be highlighted for how idiotic they are.
  3. Line up 4-5-1. Dickson on left of midfield, Holmes and Schneiderlin in middle, Chambo on right with Hammond just behind Lambert that's a bit different...
  4. well in my eyes that's almost cheating. You should be made to terminate all of those players contracts.
  5. He'd be a good signing, but i'm not sure we need to blast a load of cash on him, we only need a decent player to backup lambo (i.e henderson). Would rather it went on a quality CM.
  6. true, but i think they use Tyson as a wide man more than an out and out striker. They already have alot of strikers so could probably afford to let garner go.
  7. I think forest want to make sure they get their targets first, before letting players go. Sensible way of going about it.
  8. Tyson would be a great addition. He can also play as a wide man, from either the left or the right hand side...so would add compeititon/options to the 3 areas pard's has so far stated he's worried about. As someone has said, if he's someone Pard's really wants we'll get him. I think Forest want to make sure they get who they want first, before letting anyone else go. ...that's why i think our moves may come towards the end of the window.
  9. Played for Sheffield Wednesday last season, but he's a player (wide man) that blows very hot and cold. He can look fantastic and score some brilliant goals one moment, and the next he looks a bit like a headless chicken. He has been on trial with Charlton, but they decided not to pursue it. Will be interesting to get a view from our resident owl...
  10. that works both ways though, Papa might not have wanted to stay here. It's not an agreement that's totally set in stone.
  11. Good signing, they're pretty serious about going up this year. It's going to be competitive which makes it more interesting....but i still think we have the advantage of ''continuity''. Also...we'll probably be the only club in a position to buy in January and teams that are active in the january window often have very good 2nd halves of the season. Wednesday/Hudders etc could be maxing out their budget already, just like we did in our playoff season in 2006.
  12. Technically he was miles better at the end of the season than we we first got him. If you look at his cameo performances at the start v Torquay in the JPT etc and then look at his match winning performance v Charlton, it's like watching a different player. He improved massively and everything points to him continuing to improve if he stayed with us. It's clear to me that he blossomed under our management and they were able to coach and get the best out of him. If we don't get him, i hope he doesn't end up drifting away because he could be a really good championship level winger for someone.
  13. Sounds like they've got a bit confused, i thought the idea was shelved for now because of the cost and work it would take to organize. + we would have been told well before now. ...wouldn't we?
  14. FOOTBALL: Portsmouth end contract talks with England goalkeeper David James _
  15. http://www.football-rumours.co.uk/playersightings.php lol @ that page
  16. anything less than 138 points and i will be disappointed! Seriously though, I'd expect this team to get 90+ points and maybe even break the 100 point barrier if everything goes right for us.
  17. Very, very good player. Where did you find that? not football rumours i hope!
  18. This is what was on there - ''On 21 july 2010 Elokobi signed for league 1 side southampton for an undisclosed fee believe to be between £1m- £1.5 milion pounds after turning down local rivals Portsmouth on the grounds that he wanted to make a protest against that clubs criminal abuse of its creditors trust.'' made me lol
  19. don't believe anything on that website. I've sent crap to that site before just to see, and low and behold it was published within 24 hours you can send them anything. It's like an internet based transfer window for football manager.
  20. he's been made to look a prize tool this morning.
  21. Can't see it being true as Thomo wanted to move up north and had been using Stokes facilities to keep up fitness whilst hunting for a new club.
  22. still not good enough fro most people. was speaking to someone the other day who was certain Pardew wasn't the right manager as he cannot get results. Baffled the hell out of me.
  23. he's not a RB, a make shift emergency option. You'd be the first one moaning if there was a chance he'd be playing at RB.
  24. nope, right back was the first priority as we didn't even have a first teamer to start there before richardson signed.
  25. oh well, never mind
