Should have kept Jones by that logic given that he won manager of the year in that league. 'Experience of the championship' is entirely overrated.
-
That's certainly how I'd call it FF, he wasn't as heavily disliked as some may have you think. He wasn't perfect at all and he will irritate some, but like other's have said we haven't got the choice of everyone in front of us and in terms of players, philosophy and fit....he's pretty much ticking the boxes.
-
I've just heard two people do exactly that!
-
I think some of our fans are nutters, and I don't include you in that MB, even if you twirl your nipples in front of a mirror. But people turning their nose up at Marsch and then suggesting Tuchel and Sam Allardyce, then moaning about our recruitment and proclaiming Brighton have established world cup players in their team - why don't we do that? Did they not realise that McAlistair was bought as a young kid from Argentina and took time to break into their side? (he was loaned back out before he came through). Sorry, just irritates me. Carry on with your show MB.

It worked though to be fair. I find forums to contain the more extreme views of a fan base, at both ends, you'll get more balanced views when you speak face to face with people. I'm just saying what I've heard from a guy who supports Leeds, and to be fair it's echoed by a few others on here. Let's not kid ourselves, he's a typical annoying yank full of cliches and bollocks about rosters and soccer, but he was brought into keep Leeds up last year and he did it.
-
The people who are turning their nose up at Marsch are then suggesting Poch and Tuchel. Let's be real for just one second. Fan expectations seem absolutely skewed, not sure what's caused it.
-
He was fundamentally sacked for not getting the results, that's the only fact. Leeds are split on him, he is not as universally hated as some make out and a lot of their fingers point at Orta, their bat crazy DoF/Owner/Manager or whatever he wants to be today.
-
Russell is having a miserible time at Swansea though, so I'm not sure how he would be any better than Jones. I genuinly don't know why people are so strongly against Marsch, yet in the same breath talk up Russell Martin and Gerrard.
-
I wouldn't say he's out of his depth in an ability sense, but he needs to have the right players around him otherwise he can be gobbled up. If he's got that protection around him and he has the space to operate, technically, he's superb. He can spot a pass, play a pass, has a great engine, great long range shot on him and is a great technician of the football - but his physicality means that he gets gobbled up if we're weak in there, i.e. he's a alongside Diallo or a half fit kid! We missed a trick not keeping Romeu, and Rasmus did admit that was something they wouldn't have allowed if they could turn back the clock.

I work with a Leeds fan so I thought I'd ask, he liked him. Said he brought some togetherness last season and their issues this season have been heavily down to luck, not so much what he's doing wrong. (although he did bring up the narrowness of his game) He felt he had to go based on results, as it’s a result business, but the bigger picture shows him as being unlucky rather than out of his depth or dreadful.
-
What does anyone know about Gallardo? I'm generally interested. I don't know a great deal about him, I've heard he's done a lot at River Plate and doesn't speak English - why is he so rated? I've never seen the bloke manage a team. Why would you look at Russell Martin and Gerrard ahead of Marsch? That's crazy. I don't see any of those names as viable alternatives to Marsch, some of them are 10x worse.
-
He is categorically not hated by their fan base, I can promise you that.
-
Ok, that's your thought on this - so who would you appoint who isn't embarrassing in your eyes? It's easy to scream 'No' and then not provide any valid alternatives.
-
He wasn't actually as bad as the results suggested, Leeds fans certainly don't think so. I always thought Leeds were in games when they played, always good to watch, no thrashings or anything like that - he seemed incredibly unlucky there, given he had Bamford out for most of the season and then lost Rodrigo.
-
All feels a bit muddy to me. That will be Newcastle, PSG, Man City, Man Utd owned and funded by middle eastern states. I wouldn't say no to a mega backer if they came knocking, but by the same token I wouldn't go searching or selling my soul for one!
-
Those New Forest boars have crossed the Marchwood Bypass again then.
-
The beauty of following Jones is that whoever it is has no expectations to follow, just don't lose every game you play. It would be one hell of an effort for us to find someone WORSE than Jones (I'm sure we'll give it a good shot though....)
-
That sounds better then re: Orsic. Edozie I've seen cut inside, I don't think he'd be totally alien to the approach. If S Armstrong is fit again as well we've got another weapon in that pressing third.
-
Marsch also plays a 4-2-3-1 style, which I think suits the players we have. A back 4 to start with, two midfielders in a pivot and then 3 attackers behind your central striker. Bazunu KWP - ABK - Salisu - Perraud JWP - Lavia Sullemana - Alcaraz - Orsic Ounacu You'd want the width provided by Perraud and KWP, with JWP and Lavia both covering when they bomb forward and also providing the pivot in posession. Sullemana, Alcaraz and Orsic provide the counter press in and around Ounancu. I know Sullemana and Alcaraz are good pressing players, not sure about Orsic though (and I think we know Onauchu isn't!) Our January transfers have made this approach much more valid in my opinion. It’s a shame Ralph had to persist with Moussa/Ely/Adams/Armstrong in those roles.
-
That's a limitation in his game though, always has been. I too thought at least one of those goals was saveable by a more agile keeper. I know we can't really talk right now as we have a keeper who is seemingly incapable of making any saves, ever.
-
This guy was also free when we appointed Jones, but we decided to pay £2m compo to Luton instead! The more you look back the more you realise this was an Ankerson ego-trip.
-
Yeah this one came up yesterday, loads of connections. Like you said Selles was his assistant at FC Kobenhaven, he was then manager at Midtylland when Ankerson was there. Also signed Ounancu for Genk, so knows him. Feels a bit too 'obvious' to me though! who knows.
-
He's confused about most things to be fair, so no real surprise.
-
And let's not forget, he thought signing Bednarek for them was a good idea...!!!
