  1. I'd say we did our usual. Played at arms length, without really creating enough meaningful opportunities. We were pressing well and winning the ball back well, but we didn't create anywhere near enough clear cut opportunities in that spell. That's been our problem for weeks tbh. We don't have the ability to kill teams when we have got them with the press. Then when they inevitable improve in the 2nd half and put some pressure on us, we crumble. It's such a horrible scenario to have every, single week. It's like groundhog day.
  2. I dunno, other teams have had pretty bad injury spells to be honest. Newcastle for one, Wolves haven't had it too easy either with their injuries at certain points. The difference in both, even Newcastle I'd say, is the squad depth - the experience in the depth to come in and fill a hole. We just have kids. Our form derailed because of injuries, for sure....but we haven't been able to halt it because the squad is poor.

Welcome back Alex. Perfect opportunity to try an untested kid. Not. Wonderful situation.
  4. To be fair, I do remember some people being quite nervous about what would happen if we had injuries to key players. As looking around on the bench there was nothing. Sadly that's probably what's derailed us more than anything, getting those injures to Ings, Romeu, Vestergaard at key times in the season. When we needed to stop the rot, we had to play untried kids. It's really not a good situation to be in.
  5. I'd be surprised if he gets that level of club!
  6. I can see why Sevilla are looking at him, he looks a shoe in for that league. Doesn't look like a PL player to me, not suited to the end-to-end physicality of the league.
  7. I still feel the same, we're not in one yet. Our form is relegation form, without question, and we are getting dragged down incredibly quickly. Fulham aren't going to carry on getting 7 points from 9 until the end of the season. And we still have a decent cushion. It may look even more scary in the coming weeks, but we should still have enough. We have more than enough chances to obtain the 6 points we will likely need. If we don't manage that then everyone at this club should be sacked with immediate effect in May.
  8. Don't get me wrong, I'm not fully absorbing him of blame. Everyone is to blame for the situation we are in at the moment, our run of form is disgusting. I don't think I'm being kind purposely, I guess I just feel for him a little bit. He's been dealt a tough hand with the squad he has. I don't know what the thinking was on January the 31st with Valery going out and no full back coming in. If he went for Minamino as opposed to full back cover then he should take the blame for that. However, I do feel the lack of finances played a big, big part in that situation. It wouldn't have surprised me if we had to let Valery go before we could even look for a full back. But he has even said he'd have brought in more players if we could, but 'we have no money' - he looked noticeably frustrated by that. I still stand by my view that he has polished a turd in the main and with this make up of players we will never be too far away from these sorts of scenarios. I'd still rather tread this line with Ralph than anyone else though, as he's proven what he can get from this group. Under Hughes, Pellergino etc we never stood a chance.
  9. Don't get me wrong, I feel proper low at the moment. As low as I've felt about us for a long, long time, but people need to see the bigger picture and not just jump on Ralph. It's too quick a football fan reaction. ''New manager needed''. The players always seem to be absorbed of blame, but this bunch have in the main, bar a 12 month spell, been absolutely crap for 5 years.
  10. Lots of chat about Plan B, but it never usually works like that. We have multiple plans during a game, but none are working at the moment. It's easier to describe it as a philosophy, and you don't have 'philosophy' b. You have a philosophy, you stick to it and you alter that in game as and when is fit. But nothing, absolutely nothing is working for us. If we do go down the 'hit it long' 'get it in the box' route, then it rips up any philosophy and everything that has been worked on - and it's not all bad.
  11. I'll start supporting Woman's netball if that is the outcome. At least there will be a benefit to watching that.
  12. He does post some very emotionally driven stuff to be honest. But we're all emotional because we all share a common interest/love for the same thing, so cut him some slack.
  13. He has to be clever because we don't have the depth, that's the issue. To be fair, I think the shake up worked to a point - I liked Tella on the left, he worked quite well there. Unfortunately we still had Redmond starting. We just don't have the quality of squad, and certainly not the depth. If we have injuries or key players dropping off of form...we are struggling big style.
  14. A win comes along when you least expect it. That's what I'll go to bed believing anyway.
  15. I think his legs have gone to be honest. He's also one of the worst 'personalities' we have, in my opinion. He is shit when the going gets tough, absolutely diabolical. What's worse now is that he's slower, weaker and generally not in games against decent attackers. We need to upgrade on him, not sign him up. I have a feeling the club have recognised that.
  16. Probably the lack of money again.
  17. It was a very strange/truncated situation. Funnily enough, the season ended in 2020 (March) after a 1-0 loss at home to Newcastle, we were shocking. We needed that break. We seemed to adapt to 'post lockdown' much better than other teams. We had some favourable fixtures against Norwich, Sheff U etc to rack up some points. But it was a strange situation without fans and typically, this bunch (who shrink during pressure) came to the fore when there was no pressure from the stands. The effect of that has wained now and everyone has got used to the circumstances/no fans. Don't get me wrong, we're not going to continue as we are at the moment for ever, but where we are is a very, very true reflection of this squad - 12th - 16th.
  18. He's decent, nothing special. Not an amazing player. When we were pushing under Koeman he was a squad player at best, if we want to get to those levels he is probably a squad player. I like Romeu, he has done a decent job for us, but he's not a world beater. Needs better players playing well around him.
  19. Granted, it doesn't look likely at the moment - as it wouldn't do for any team on this run of form, but we will get points in our remaining games. Of that I have no doubt. Even this rabble can do that.
  20. IMO some of our fans rate our players too highly. They are generally, shit. That's why I think he's done great to even get us doing as well as we have done, or even spoken about as being a 'Top half' team. Truth be told we have a lot of very poor players, not quite good enough. Adams, Redmond, Bertrand (legs have gone). Then you have the other level - Romeu, Bednarek, Vestergaard, JWP, McCarthy, Moussa, Armstrong - can be decent when the going is good, but prone to head fucks and shrink during adversity. Ings is prob the best player we have. He's better off out of it. That is a terrible makeup of a squad.
  21. We are in relegation form, as much as Sheffield United have been in all season. But I'm still thankful we got the points on the board we did. We still have a decent cushion and some favourable fixtures coming up, maybe not immediately, but I still can't imagine us not getting 6-7 points from those remaining games and that will do us. Season closed.
  22. Fitness, mentality. Combination of both. We usually coast around in the first half, looking good on the ball but failing to do anything with it. Start the second half, oppo comes out a bit better and puts us under more pressure and we crumble under it. Game over.
  23. A huge cog in how we play. Take the attacking right back out and our right side goes. Then we're left with the left side, which is pretty shit most of the time (Bertrands legs have gone)
  24. I don't know what he's supposed to do. He's been lumbered with a team full of losers that he's tried to polish as much as he can. The polish has come off and the shit is shining through again. What can he do? He claimed as much he'd have brought in players if he could, but we have no money. He needed backing. When he goes (He'll walk IMO) he will walk into a club, get some backing and you'll see what he's all about when a club affords him some flexibility to mould a squad in his ideas. This is a mish mash of a squad that he is TRYING to evolve into his style. He did miracles to make this rabble play as well as they have done. They are a shit team, shit bunch of players. If I was Ralph, I'd cut my losses and walk away from the losers.
  25. You have to be a special type of shit to not at least score against Leeds, so this diabolical 'team' can take that accolade on top of all the others over the last 4 years. Congrats. Moan at someone about that Redmond. Does anyone see what people are saying about our ‘heads dropping’ now? The shit mentality of our players? Look at it – bit of adversity, we absolutely implode and sink into our own skin. The make up of this squad is wrong, the personalities are wrong, it's all wrong. Not enough purpose in our attacking, not enough clear-cut opportunities. Didn’t really force their keeper into too many saves, didn’t make their defenders panic enough. Leeds didn’t play that well, but they created at least 10 clear cut chances to our 1? 2 at a push. Nowhere near good enough. I don’t want Redmond at my club anymore, truth be told. I think he is a truly diabolical player. Adams has dropped back to ‘no goals’ mode as well, he looks equally as diabolical. Could do with a season on loan in the Championship, but he’s our focal point next year so we might as well get used to it. Poor in defence, poor in goal, poor in attack. There is genuinely nothing functioning with us at the moment, it all feels very broken. Thank fuck we picked up those points at the start of the season. Overall, we have pissed what could have been a decent season into a season of absolute pointless nothingness, swimming around in the dank swamp of Newcastle/Palace etc. Great fun. Another truly miserable season under Gao's tenure, but apparently he's a good owner. I'd say bring on next season, but I'm dreading it. I think 2020 was as good as it's going to get for us for a very long time.
