His play off the ball (his movement/runs) were excellent, and showed that he has a football brain on his shoulders. It's refreshing to see a manager throw in a young player rather than playing a seasoned pro. I love MP for doing that, and Puel has put Mcqueen and Sims into the limelight this season when they were nowhere near last year. Credit to his management. I was bemused when I read on the BBC site that Koeman didn't know of Sims'. I think it was more a case of that he didn't want to know of him. Everton fans are moaning about him not playing the youth and persisting with the pro's, so we're not alone in that.

Should have easily been more than the 1-0, Everton were lucky. We did what we've all been crying out for us to do from the start. Attack with pace, run and commit players and move the ball quickly in the final third. We have the players to do that and it caused everton all sorts of problems. So many options for MOTM today, but I really enjoyed Hojburgs performance, that is his position. One of the advanced CM's, running with the ball and looking to play the ball forward - he is majestic in that role and it was easily his best game for us. Cedric was awesome and no one was beating him today, VVD and Fonte were as expected. VVD even more imperious than usual. I think Redmond is struggling for confidence/form a bit at the moment, he's over trying things. Great to see Sims give us yet another option as an attacking player, he looks like the sort of player who can play all across the front 3. The moment he beat 3 players in that 2nd half had me stood from my seat. An excellent fearless debut. Big 3 points, big performance, we can now continue to look up.

If we signed a new striker, it would have to be a tall/strong type. Someone who could act as a focal point, as we don't have that option with any of our forwards. -

Combination of both. I'd defintley loan him in January down to the NPC. Get his fitness back, get his confidence back and get him believing he can score goals again. I don't think any of us will really know for sure if he's ''gone'' for good until he's given a decent run in a side - and that won't be us. -

Of all the players, I think Clasie isn't one I'd hang crtisism on. He was alright. But the midfield was full of exactly the same sort of player. Happy to recieve the ball and piviot in the centre of midfield, but really we only need one of those types...and then attackers in front of them. That's why we go sideways and backwards so often, the midfielders we have are all that sort of player. -

Not quite sure Jay has much anymore to be honest, pains me to say. He needs to have a season away from us before we know for sure, coming in and out of our team isn't doing anyone any favours. I'm his biggest fan and it's sad to see him this bad. -

Pelle was ripped apart on here most weeks. He was another streaky sort of player. But we do miss a focal point for sure, we try to launch it but we have the likes of Redmond and Long going up for it. Never going to work. Wouldn't surprise me to see us going back in for Haller. We need some real presence in the final third, and then I'd loan out Jay. -

The entire 2nd half was a WTF from me, no idea what they were told to do at HT. Martina is the modern day Telfer, but worse. -

ALWAYS_SFC, you are the worst culprit on here at the moment. Browsing through a match thread is just you attacking other posters, fair enough they might be idiots, but you're falling for the bait every.single.time. You come across very dim, and you make all these threads a torture to read - not just the glasgows. And some people have him on ignore, so quoting him doesn't help. -

I'm all for the rotation policy, but I really do not think it works for players like Long and Jay. They're streaky players, taking them in and out of the team will equal what we're seeing. The lack of any ability creativley is what worried me more, we usually create openings in games but just can't finish. Tonight we were truly inept all over the pitch, 2nd half even more so. Redmond is having a total nightmare at the moment, doesn't look like he can run. We missed Tadic, and we miss a fully firing Bouful who can carry the ball in the final third. Toothless is a fair assumption. And let's be honest, we carried Martina tonight. He was so bad. Not sure what to take from that. We'll probably get through, but I just feel for everyone who has been to our away games in Israel and Prague. Absolute dog ****e efforts from us. -

Disgusting effort from us, they should all go and look at themselves in the mirror after this. -

This 2nd half has been a disgrace to be honest. Feel for all those who went out there. Never looked like scoring. -

What an absolute load of **** this is. This is on par with Midjiland away last year. -
I thought Jansen was an odd striker signing for them, they should have gone for someone small and nippy as an alternative to Kane. They don't have a great record of signing strikers really. They really do miss Toby at the back, i think most teams would to be honest. It seems as if signing Wanyama has totally nullified them in an attacking sense, did they really need him? They played with Dembele as the deepest midfielder last year, but now they're playing Dembele and Wanyama in most games....so they seem to play a lot more cautiously in the middle.
-
Yeah I can totally understand the resting thing, but to not even travel? If you're resting them you at least have them in the squad...just in case VVD, Stephens and Yoshida fall ill. There's something a little odd about the fact that he simply hasn't traveled or is even an option to play in any of the European matches. weird.
-
From how I understand it, it basically stops someone coming in and creating a Man City or a Chelsea overnight through mega investment. But the clubs who were already up there, will stay up there, and the clubs who aspire to be up there will get left behind as they won't be allowed to compete. I don't think there's anything fair about it personally.

Dortmund, Atleti and to an even greater extent the Portuguese clubs do it (notably Porto). In recent years they've turned over the likes of Falcao, Mangala, Fernando, Pepe, Jackson Martinez, James Rodriguez, Hulk. **** loads of talent has gone through there, more than most European clubs. Next on the line for them will be the likes of Barhami, Oliver, Neves (who is a top, top midfielder). They turn it around pretty well, they have some close links with South American clubs and they bring over some awesome talent at times. It's part of the game really, the transfer merry-go-round. As other's have pointed out, if clubs didn't want our players then we're doing something wrong. The fact clubs keep coming back to us for our players is because we recruit well, we know what we're doing and we know how to execute it. Our scouting and recruitment is the envy of most. And that's why none of what we do is down to luck or is what i'd call a gamble. It's good planning and a sustainable model for clubs below the elite to operate on.

It's not even worth discussing the McQueen articles in any of the papers, they're fake. He is contracted until 2018.
-
Well that article is flawed from the moment they talk about him being a free agent. His deal expires in 2018.
-
arrrrgh, stop engaging with him. You're giving him what he wants.
-
Get it right, he was non-league standard.....!
-
Sorry, i over loaded on the fairs there, to be honest.
-
Don't see the point to be honest. Grateful with what he gave us for the last 2 years, some great days, some frustrating days, but mainly some of our best days in the PL. He was very much a case of right man, right time. Exactly who we needed to steady the ship when all was seemingly sinking around us. Everton will be a struggle for him, expectations are higher, more money to spend etc etc. I don't think Everton fans are even that keen on him, as their ambitions are totally skewed - seeing as they thought they could get Pep or Jose in the summer. So if that's the way Everton fans are thinking, he's not got a chance of success there.
