  1. It was a good offside trap, it was just that Balotelli didn't want to join in.
  2. Holloway's not in charge of them anymore, he lost his job aggges ago. I think Neil Harris is the manager.
  3. I think everyone's fixtures are tricky tbh, playing the teams down there scrapping at this stage is always tricky and it always throws up dodgy results - so I don't see us having an easy run at all. But....given how the fixtures play out, if........IF.....we win the next 2, I think we've got one foot in fifth, as that should create a little gap. (given that Liverpool are away at Chelsea, Spurs play Stoke away next w/e, and City this weekend)
  4. And still some people think he can do a job for us...!! The quicker he goes back to South America the better for all concerned
  5. Fair play Hull. Sunderland look in big, big trouble if they fail on Saturday. Sets the game up...!
  6. What, do you mean that Brendan 'Tactical Genius' Rogers has got it wrong?!?!!?!? No. Never, he's the messiah for global football.
  7. Pretty enjoyable game to watch this. Bit end to end, Hull showing lots of fight and belief. Balotelli is an absolute liability in both boxes though.
  8. From what I've seen, Clasie is very Morgan-esque in the position he plays, and the style of his game. He's a bit smaller (ok, a lot smaller!) but he's a snappy little character with excellent technique. He's basically a like for like in Morgan's position.
  9. to be fair, we've helped them out a fair bit in the past. Lallana, Surman loans. Oh, and we helped them get a fair wedge from the Lallana deal.
  10. I imagine we're subsidising the wage. But whatever, they've achieved a great thing on far less resources than we had. Respect to them.
  11. All transfers are hit and miss, but Liverpool, particularly over the last 2 seasons have been pathetically bad. Must be like a 10% success rate at best. Of course we've signed some dross, but I'd say our good signings have outweighed those a lot more impressively. Liverpool have acted like a club who aren't quite there as a ''top, top club'' so can't attract the big guns, but they go and spend stupid money on the next level of player down instead.
  12. Similar as we did in the summer I think. Tadic is quality, but has struggled with form/fitness in the 2nd half - but he was a quality replacement for Lallana, Mane in some respects added to this area as well. Toby, quality replacement for Lovren. Bertrand, quality replacement for Shaw. So, if we accept that we're going to lose Morgan, Clyne and Toby (at least) this summer.....it won't look too bad if they're replaced with Clasie, Van Der Wiel and Dragovic.
  13. Great day, great season. It was a real feel good day as we were live on the BBC, they had a football focus on before our game focusing on it, and our club was portrayed in such a massive bright light that day - loved it. Very similar to the Bournemouth game last night. But I would say, my favorite celebrations were down at Plymouth. We were effectively promoted when we won 3-1 down there, and the feeling from that day will live with me for a long time. I think it's because it was the first time for me to experience a promotion, I remember watching all the other clubs enjoying that whilst we were spiraling down the Championship and I'm glad I got the opportunity - twice!
  14. Another player we could make a profit on! As much as it's quite sad, I'm sure that's in our thoughts - the ability to sell on at a profit in the future after they've established themselves. I think this guy is only 23/24, and is a current international, so he ticks all of our recruitment boxes.
  15. I'm sure we were backed significantly more when we were coming up the leagues, and I don't remember anyone critising that and we were being called a fairy tale story in a lot of quarters. Fonte, Lambert, Lallana and co in League 1 would have been on mega-money, at that level. I think it's safe to say we were bankrolled on our way back up, but it was done in a sensible structured way - similar to how Bournemouth have achived it, but I'd say it's on less resources than us.
  16. If only! I can't remember exactly where I read this, but Ewin came out with quotes saying that we went in for Depay last summer - quite strongly, but Depay wanted to stay for another year at PSV - we ended up with Mane instead, and now Depay's stock is even higher.
  17. Aleksandar Dragović at Dynamo Kiev, possibly? He's an absolute player by the way, Champions League quality. Arsenal were tracking him/are tracking him. I can't see that happening, but it shows the ambition is to replace our best players with equal. The quoted price I think I saw was about £15m. Van Der Wiel is a player I wondered about a few months back - Windows may correct me on this....but I don't think he's been a first choice player at PSG up until recently, and isn't that only down to injury to Serge Aurier? If he wants first team football, as a key player, then it may be on.
  18. The chance to go for Sigurdsson was when he was leaving Spurs, we weren't interested then though. He'd cost too much for us, you're talking £20-25m+. He won't leave Swansea again just yet either. Non-starter.
  19. How about we give them a tad bit of respect and stop already trying to sign up their team? Hope they can keep that group together and give it a good go.
  20. He couldn't help but throw in his traditional line ''I signed xxx years ago, top lad''
  21. Huge achievement. They play the right way, score lots of goals, and they have a Saint in their midfield. I hope Drew, finally, gets a real fair crack at the PL. Another Southampton academy player in the PL.
  22. Hard to say yet, you never know. They'll give it a good go though, for sure.
  23. They're a tidy team. They will give many teams in the PL a game down there.
  24. Given that Osvaldo had a habit of punching team mates and unsettling every team he goes to, then I would say we'd probably be doing a lot worse as most of our players would be out with broken cheekbones and noses. And Gaston hasn't ever done anything over a prolonged period of time to suggest he'd have made any difference what so ever. Wouldn't think Boruc would make much difference either, Forster was in goal all season anyway, so Davis isn't going to make a huge difference to our prospects in just 4/5 games.
