  1. We are your typical stepping stone club, I've pretty much accepted it! Attract and recruit young players who are being monitored by the elite clubs - but as you said, not yet ready for them. But get them performing in the PL and you then sell them for double what you bought them for. Financially it's a genius model, but as a football model it's pretty depressing.
  2. He's not a bad player, never a £10m+ player though. So much more value out there in other leagues. He's a pretty big damning indictment of English football. Hit it....run.....
  3. That's Guan. Any chance for a update on where we stand? Lots going on! Cork/Gaston/Morgan 'potentially' out.......Toby/Classie/Townsend/Redmond in......do you think we'll see 1 or 2 players by the weekend? anything really close?
  4. For what it's worth, if Gaston does leave you'd have to assume that it's a fairly large % taken off the wage bill for the season. I like Gaston and feel he has ability, but you must admit, he gets better by not playing. . I think we're all a little guilty of bigging him up, when deep down we probably know he'll miss a lot of the season with knocks and injuries and frustrate as he always has done. I think he's just a fairly injury prone player, and maybe the club feel they can get someone more worthwhile to the squad as a whole whilst trimming the wage bill significantly.
  5. In my random FM game the other day, I signed Belhanda. Based on what he did in that game in 1 season, (13 assists, 18 goals) then I think he'd be a great signing!
  6. Just imagine if all 3 go....and we only bring in Redmond in the last minute for £15m or something! I predict a chaotic meltdown!
  7. Abel Hernandez.
  8. Lol, wow.
  9. Warnock is the new Palace manager.
  10. If he shows signs of becoming anywhere near Buffons level, then he will not be here for any more than 18 months.
  11. If people think it was unintentional, then they clearly are just in a negative mindset. It was clearly a clever bit of audacious skill, that could have left him on his arse (Like David Dunn all those years ago!).

    Pelle

You have to admire someone who keeps going, and going and putting themselves on the line. He could have easily sunk back into a shell, but from last night you can see he's a confident lad who believes in his own ability. And it was a pretty handy finish, if we're honest. Clean strike. I saw a lot more in that 2nd half that made me a hell of a lot more confident about him, ok it was Millwall, but he showed real desire which had since then been lacking.
  13. I have a feeling it's a Les Reed call, and that he feels he's blocking Harry Reed's path. But that theory will be blown out of the water if we go and sign Clasie!
  14. It would be an incredible sale that wouldn't make any sense. We were **** in that first half, brought him on and immediately we showed a lot more composure on the ball. Why get rid of a reliable, experienced premiership player in this summer of change? Especially when he's happy to be here. I just don't get it at all. No sense. It screams of Fitz Hall all over again to me. And if the club don't see Palace as a rival, then they need to wake up.
  15. I think he's a definite upgrade. He looks like a very confident and solid goal keeper who will give the back 4 plenty of confidence. I certainly don't worry when the ball swings in the box as he has a real presence and seems to claim it 90% of the time. He reminds me of Joe Hart in many ways, I don't think he's too far away from him ability wise. Let's hope he keeps it up, I think he's one of the best keepers we've had in a long while. No disrespecting Boruc as he was brilliant for us, but prone to a lapse now and again. Forster seems more grounded and reliable in his early showings. It's the one area we have definitely upgraded in this summer of change.

  17. Like LVG has just done. Man Utd were unlucky apparently, and the players did their best.
  18. Pretty solid I thought, not much attacking input, but solid in a defensive sense - if not really tested a great deal.
  19. Preoccupied with the Ice Bucket challenge.
  20. LVG's post match interview, what the actual ****? He thinks they were unlucky and that you cannot read into the game as they had lots of kids and injuries, they did their best. They played Kagawa, Hernandez, Evans, De Gea, Welbeck, Jananzi............ He seems like a bit of a fool to me.
  21. I thought he had a great 2nd half, stretching the game, getting in behind, causing the havoc in and around Pelle that opens the game up.
  22. Cheers. That would imply something is pretty much done and dusted, and given that Toby is the only one with what seems to be real legs in the media at the moment, then it could well be him.
  23. He's just a nutcase.
  24. I was going to mention the same, lots of hugging with the players, a long and thoughtful hug/chat with Fonte at FT too. I'm hoping it was just the fact that he got his first goal! But I do believe he will go, with Clasie coming in. A bit of a dim wit move if it happens, to be honest. You don't sell PL experience in a pre-season season like we've had.
