So yes, it's a group effort. Also we have a huge team of scouts and analysts from all over the world (I think Tord Grip is involved with us in a consultancy role), Paul's job was to collate everything and run the operation in essence. He didn't do any of the real 'unearthing', his job simply wouldn't allow for that. I'm sure we can find someone equally as capable to oversea and run the operation.

JANUARY - Who will go, Who will stay and Who will arrive?
S-Clarke replied to david in sweden's topic in The Saints
It's good to see Guidetti getting his career back on track, I think most clubs are looking for him to have a strong period of 12-18 months before getting excited though. He has been beset by injuries and illnesses all over his career, so if he can lose that weakness then he can do it at a higher level for sure. -
Swindon love Stephens, he is a shining light at that level. I think he could be an able player for our squad in the future.

There are a couple of things which make me believe there is something genuine to this. 1st - He's not signed a new contract, no acknowledgement bar us offering a deal. 2nd - He isn't really spoken about, pretty much ignored in any team updates. JWP gets plenty of mentions though. Youtube updates, twitter match day interaction, twitter updates etc. It's all deadly silent on Jay as of late. I have a feeling that he's made his intentions to the club clear, so to the highest bidder he goes....

Way, way over the top in my opinion. We dictated the game, but were sloppy in the final ball on a few occasions, but in the end deserved it. We may have been guilty for going through the motions at points in the 1st half, but I thought we were good in the 2nd. The performance in many ways was similar to how Southampton performed against Leicester.

Our biggest threat to Champions League football...the League Cup
S-Clarke replied to Unbelievable Jeff's topic in The Saints
We're 4 games from winning some silverware. Or we're 27 games from achieving a top 4 place. Don't get me wrong, our start has been incredible and extraordinary, but it's not too dissimilar from last season and the league evened it's self out in the end - which it will again. We do not have a big enough squad to sustain this, and whatever anyone says, we will have issues with injuries and suspensions as every team does during a season. We have better depth than last year, which is why I think we'll get top 6, but not quite enough depth for the top 4. -

Absolutely this. For me, it's all about aiming for what is a realistic goal. And however anyone paints it, Top 4 isn't really realistic and it's a huge outside chance and will require a lot of luck. Whereas the league cup is an actual realistic opportunity, 1 game from a 2 legged Semi and a potential bit of silverware. I think I know where I'd place my priorities... -

Your act is so crap. Give it up. -
Are people getting worried about the media getting worried?

When will they have a proper plan themselves? What on earth is more attractive about the mess at Spurs right now?

Makes you wonder why the big clubs struggle to get a decent CB. Liverpool with Shako and Lovren @ £40m, both pretty rubbish for them. Mangala for City has been awful for £35m, Chris Smalling @ Utd for £18m

And Gibbs has been called up as well. 3 LB's picked, and he's still not there. Kind of rubs it in, harsh.

Yeah, I'm pretty excited too to be honest. Not feeling any pressure, as even if we lose them all, we're still going to be in and around it all.

Will clyne get a a start/cap in the next couple of England games?
S-Clarke replied to Batman's topic in The Saints
If he doesn't, then something is horribly wrong with the England set-up (which we kind of already know!) -
He wasn't a natural captain, as we saw when it took him a year to adjust to it. He was never really captain material, yeah he spoke a lot and shouted at the referee, but there were stronger candidates to be captain rather than him I think. Lambert, Morgan and Fonte for one. I believe we did it mainly for the reason you state - a kid from the academy, all the way through, and what other academy kids could aim for. I truly hope none of them turn out like that precious idiot though.

He's got a hell of a lot more integrity than our slimy Argie ever had.

'The club have a strategic way of looking at transfers and my job is to manage that,’ said Rodgers. ‘They have entrusted me to put my football vision in place.’ Whoops.

His current excuses are up there with Poch's ''the pitch is too small' ********...

Are we favourites now in our run of difficult games?
S-Clarke replied to andoru's topic in The Saints
We go into these games with no pressure. A return of 7-9 would kind of suggest we're on the brink of something spectacular. -
So would any team! (Look at Utd!) We do have plenty more to chose from. We're not an injury from Jos any more, or Guly, Or Danny Fox, Lee etc. We've got Gardos who is a very good CB, Matty Target who is a very able and promising full back. We then have Shane Long, Mane, Jay (shortly), Gallagher, Tadic, Pelle all in the attacking area's. I think we're notably stronger in terms of depth, obviously not as much as the 'big sides' but we've got more than we did last year, which was emphasised when Long came on and changed the game on Saturday.

Given his new role a a bench warmer, and a reserve team starter in the CL, I'd say Lallana is feeling on the top of the world right now after those comments.... Deserves it.
-
I heard them getting into an excited mess over Swansea, and also over WHU a few weeks ago. We beat both, away from home. We've had hard games, to suggest otherwise is so small minded. Bloody media.
