  1. Sunday lunchtime game, plenty of tickets still available, won't be a big away following, if this is a dour 0-0 draw i can imagine the atmosphere will be awful. Here are some of Boro fans thoughts http://www.oneboro.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?tid=8405&page=7 it will be a relief if Ramirez is out injured, despite the fact he did virtually nothing for us whilst picking up a tidy sum each week we all know how these things work and he'd have been bound to score. Would be handy if Tadic and Boufal are both fit, one to start the other to come on and provide some creativity , will be our best chance of getting a goal.

    **** off

i agree as well. It is amazing in a season that has seen us have a Europa league campaign and reach a cup semi final i know so many regulars feeling more disheartened and losing interest. i think it is a combination of a number of factors, but the atmosphere at our games has been getting progressively worse for a couple of seasons now. I know it is highly highly unlikely but a semi final win over Liverpool is just what we need to get some spark back i think.
  3. I prefer calling him Clueless Claude. It's his dour mumbling miserable press conferences that don't inspire the fans at all; can't say I've warmed to him in his time here and think his personality is reflected in the performance. Having said that those moaning about Redmond worth remembering he is young and in fact record signing Boufal has been a bigger let down in terms of having minimal contribution to our season. Joining a long list of useless record signings. I'm plssed off at the missed opportunity. Who knows when we'll get such a chance to progress in Europe.
  4. Think we'll be in for some stiff prices at Liverpool as well if this guide is anything to go by http://www.liverpoolfc.com/tickets/domestic-cup-prices-2016-17 We'll struggle to take much more than 1500 to Norwich in my opinion.
  5. I saw an advert recently for a new flight route from Southampton to Lyon, would be handy for Lyon or St Etienne. I think they draw the next two Europa league rounds at the same time, alternatively if we go out tomorrow night it could be our last European game for a long time.
  6. I'll console myself with the lack of Europa draw by tuning in for the CheckaTrade Trophy draw instead, we'll be in the hat as Southampton and Reading due to that game being postponed until Dec 21st. Still on for 3 Wembley finals this season. For those worried about getting Norwich tickets this game will definitely make general sale. We didn't even sell out in the Premier League last season when saints subsidised tickets.
  7. i reckon they'll still manage a decent bounce and will scare the stewards used to sedate Premier league fans, in fact it will be an eye opener for some of our fans. I don't think Be'ersheva will sit back, they went for it against Inter Milan and despite falling to a 2-0 deficit never gave up and kept on attacking them , that 3-2 victory will give them confidence that anything is possible so even if we take the lead i won't be relaxing unless we're 3 up. Really hope our fans are up for this one, could be one of the best atmospheres we've had at St Marys.
  8. still about 1000 tickets left for this , mostly in the Chapel / Kingsland corner (usually the family stand but for these games there are no restrictions on needing to buy child tickets alongside an adult ticket, anyone can purchase). Would have thought they will sell out over the next couple of days, surprised we haven't heard from some of the Be'ersheva fans who posted on here before the away game, would be interesting to hear their thoughts on the match and about their trip over to Southampton.
  9. I would also be in favour of that. We're in danger of having a week off if we're not careful. 31st Dec - West Bromwich (H) 2nd Jan - Everton (A) 7th Jan - Norwich (A) 11th Jan - Liverpool (H) 14th Jan - Burnley (A) 18th Jan - Norwich replay 22nd Jan - Leicester (H) 25th Jan - Liverpool (A) 28th Jan - FA Cup 4th round 31st Jan - Swansea (A) Could be an expensive month for Saints fans, don't think we'll take many to Norwich. I'm hoping Friday's Europa league draw will be more interesting (if we are still in it)
  10. Pretty much the same for me, although i've done Sutton would like to go there in a competitive game, Wimbledon would be decent but as it's not a new ground for me i'd go for Burton or Newport County. Sutton would be ideal really, play the u23's , keep our team fresh for Liverpool at home on the Wednesday , we'd still have enough to get through i think. Definitely do not want another Premier league side. Fingers crossed Liverpool get Everton or Man United, a tough physical game just before they travel to St Marys would be ideal. i've got a feeling we'll get Derby at home.
  11. Not quite as many as that, 21k season ticket I think. Last year we had just over 10k members probably a similar number this year. Even at this price there will be plenty of tickets on general sale to fans with a purchase history. I'm pleased in this cup you buy need to give 10% to away fans. Wonder if we'll take the whole Anfield road end for the 2nd leg? Bet they won't match our cheap tickets .
  12. Looking forward to this one, I've heard the Israelis are bringing 1000 fans over, not sure if that is true but if so our fans will have to be on top form to drown them out. Just got to go with our strongest team and hope they don't mess this up, clearly a very good chance to progress but I don't want to risk a 0-0, just look at the spirit Be'ersheva showed in coming from behind against Inter.
  13. What I enjoyed so much about last night is it shows some teams play kids but have to carry them , whereas we bring in the likes of McQueen, Reed, Sims and they actually improve us as a team. Hope Reeds injury was not too bad as he was excellent. Our fixture congestion this season is giving these lads great exposure to first team football and they are seizing the opportunity with both hands.
  14. Someone who has been around as long as you should know football is a funny old game. Of course if Liverpool play their strongest team we'll find it very difficult. But you never know, injuries after busy Christmas period will be a factor, plus there are also 2 rounds of the FA cup in January, fingers crossed we are home to non-league team and Liverpool get Everton or Man Utd to go alongside their tough league fixtures that month. Liverpool fans I know want the title so badly I think they'd support a weakened team in this cup. The draw was disappointing so soon after a good win, wonder how many tickets we'll get? Leeds had over 5000 and Stoke also had whole end in semi final last year. Would love to win this, I despise Liverpool, the club, the fans and the city.
  15. If coming from south (Waterloo, central London etc) I would get off before then at Highbury & Islington. It's only a short walk from there with much better pubs in the area, plus you don't even need to touch the Piccadilly line. From Waterloo take Bakerloo line northbound, change at Oxford Circus walk through short tunnel onto Victoria line. Very easy journey. For the midweek game last year a lot of Saints fans parked at Richmond and got the London overground direct from there to Highbury & Islington, another good option.
  16. worth giving the club a call to see if they can sort something out, i know it defaults to that when there are not enough postal days left to deliver them, they might be able to agree something with the Arsenal ticket office, or if we still have tickets left you might be able to pay on the night.
  17. Must admit i am surprised that we still haven't sold out the allocation, 5,806 is a lot of tickets midweek though, especially when we have been playing midweek regularly it is a lot to ask of fans, 2200 went to Prague just 5 days ago and have sold out 3000 for Palace on Saturday. Even still it might reflect some of the sad apathy that people like Fitzhugh Fella has shown on here. I'm not a fan of having the away split either, lower and upper tier with Arsenal fans in the corporate middle tier between us. Not sure if read too much into that article about Arsenal resting players, they will still have a strong side out with internationals and we'll need to be at our best to get through. Don't fancy our chances if it goes to penalties, i've never seen Forster get near saving one and McCarthy is still injured i think. Could also do without having to get a later train home! Hope we play a strong team and we have the excitement of a semi final to look forward to.
  18. Agree with this, I go to quite a few u23 games, Sims was superb against Man Utd in 2-0 win earlier this season and has grown to add an element of strength to his game that wasn't there previously. He was the stand out player against Crawley the other week and against Chelsea's ridiculously experienced u23 side last week. Hope he can continue to progress will give us another excellent option if Tadic is injured and when Boufal is at the AFCON. Any news on Hesketh's injury?

    Everton Build Up

Here is the link to the Everton forum pre match discussion, they don't sound very confident considering they are 7th https://www.grandoldteam.com/forum/threads/everton-v-southampton-sunday-27th-nov-ko-16-30.92897/page-9 Regardless of Koeman I've never liked Everton , always been a bogey side of ours. Couple of things you can guarantee - Stekelenberg will have the game of his life and Lukaku will score, he's got a good record against us. Still a few hundred tickets left for this game, Everton have sold out 3,300 good following for 4.30pm on a Sunday fair play to them even with the £20 subsidised tickets. We could really do with the win , let's hope we don't go behind as we will struggle then.
  20. I haven't got a problem with it, shows a bit of passion in the fans who actually care - the result meant something to them far more than it did the players. I wouldn't boo just because of defeat but special moments of shlteness like last night, Sunderland in 2014 Sheffield Utd couple of years ago deserve it , and it's not just directed at the over-paid players but also particularly the manager and his choice of line up. It's not a new thing either I recall Saints fans piling down the front of the terrace at Elm Park to let the players know what they thought of them after losing at Reading in the FA Cup in 96/97 (I think) remember Souness shrugging his shoulders. Midjytlland was similar. What I don't like are the bores who boo when it's 0-0 at half time in a home game when we're actually playing ok.
  21. Interesting that I've heard from a few fans who were there and the anger and booing directed at the players at the end was very noticeable, clearly Long realised and the fact McQueen issued an apology to the fans I think he did too. I only did Israel and spent more on that trip than a season ticket so I can imagine those who have done all three without even seeing a goal feel cheated by our lack of effort. I've joked with Spurs fans I know in the past few seasons about the contradiction of them resting players and going out of Europe just so they can prioritise the league trying to qualify for Europe but we are even worse in that regard. I guess every league place we finish higher is worth more to the club and from a business perspective it makes sense to invest our resources into league games. Just such a shame it has come to that. In recent history Fulham and Middlesbrough have got to the final of this competition which shows it can be done, at the very least we've given ourselves a tough chance needing to beat Be'ersheva and will be unseeded in the next round if we do.
  22. How many thousand miles have our fans got to travel until they see an away goal? Getting beyond a joke and Clueless Claude's post match interview left me even more ****ed off. Reminded me of the Midgetland away game last year. Got to end Rodriguez experiment , it's just not going to happen. Regretting buying a ticket for Arsenal away next week, that's a guaranteed defeat if ever there was one with the weakened side we are bound to play.
  23. It's a red herring all this talk of them being depleted, there's plenty of regulars there. I'm still going for 0-0 or 1-0 defeat.
  24. Game sold out first thing this morning to those with 3 away games.
  25. They will, our record away in Europe is not great, and i think we would settle for a point, but reading about their injury list with 10 players out gives me hope we could nick it. Having said that i don't know anything about those 10 players and how much context it will have, for example we could claim McCarthy, Targett, Pied and Hesketh are all out injured even though it has no impact on the side we'll play anyway.
