    Injury Watch

As was Targett's initial injury, so i'll be glad if we can act like a big club and get a few players to drop out of their international squads. From our current list of injured players it looks like Cedric, Long and Targett will still be injured when players go off on international duty so can use the two week break getting back to full fitness ready for our crazy schedule of games between November 19th - December 18th .

    Chapel Kop

Post some of those great old songs on here and see if they catch on. The Chapel stand is awful, its almost as if singing or shouting encouragement in there is banned. I remember sitting there for Pompey at home in the Championship singing loudly and overheard the bloke next to me tut and say it's not normally like this in here. It's a shame as just a bit of noise from that stand would make a real difference, hopefully for Inter at home that will be the case.
  3. Speaking to a mate in Italy there is increasing speculation that De Beer is about to get the sack. With Inter due to board a flight to England tomorrow This uncertainty has got to be a good thing for us. Let's make the most of having extra blocks of the Northam stand, with the whole end stood there is the potential to create a fantastic atmosphere which will drown out any noise generated by the small Italian contingent in the corner. The 8.05 kick off allows time for an extra pint on the way to the game as well - remember no beer sold inside the ground.
  4. I agree with that line up, plus hopefully we'll have Long available on the bench. Massive game for us as a club, sold out night game against a European giant just hope our fans can produce an atmosphere to match. I watched Sampdoria 1v 0 Inter last night, they were given a tough run out chasing the game for the whole 2nd half, first goal really is crucial. De Boer remains under a lot of pressure, 5 league defeats already this season. Any idea how many Inter are bringing over? I doubt they'll have more than 500.
  5. Frustrating game and we can have no complaints with the result, Clasie and Davis were weak points for us and the ease with which Chelsea found space in midfield areas going forward leads me to dread the Liverpool fixture in a couple of weeks time. Forster strangely looked a bit short of confidence and Bertrand nor match fit yet, hope he gets left out of the England squad to get a bit more rest. I watched Sampdoria v Inter Milan last night, De Boer under a lot of pressure following another defeat so hope we push on and capitalise on that Thursday night.
  6. I can't work out from the story how many will be in the upper tier, it's odd as Reading had 5,306 and all were lower tier, out allocation is a few hundred more than that and includes upper. Plenty of tickets to go round, I expect we'll sell out but only after a period on general sale with Prague the week before and Palace away 3 days after. Lost count of the number of times I've seen Saints lose in 1/4 finals of this comp, Luton 88, Oldham 90, Stockport (96?) Sheff Utd 2014, Liverpool 2015. Any more I've forgotten?

    Stewards

Is he the bloke between Northam blocks 41/42 looks like Phil Brown? He's a total jobsworth if so, claims he's a Saints fan but clearly isn't as doesn't watch the match at all, clearly gets a kick out of telling people what to do and is far more interested in getting people to sit down. I've noticed him going in for a kiss with all sorts of female saints fans, bit odd behaviour in my opinion in fact I might report him for harrasment
  8. Interesting that Saints have made no attempt to promote the home game in this competition, even though it is quite soon. Crawley Town have confirmed the date is Wednesday 9th November , kick off 7.45pm, entry is £5 adults, £3 concessions and £1 for under 11s. The mad thing is there is another game at St Marys the FOLLOWING night, England u21s v Italy u21s where you potentially get to see 4 Saints u23s perform in that. http://www.crawleytownfc.com/news/article/2016-17/crawley-town-southampton-3383867.aspx
  9. I agree that was a nice moment, excellent play winding down the clock and showed great composure. it was not a great game, but we achieved our objective of getting through in the Cup while at the same time resting most of the first team ready for action on Sunday. Hopefully the next couple of games will be kind to us in terms of injuries as we are struggling on that front. When you consider after Rodriguez went off we had Stephens, McQueen, Reed, Ward-Prowse, Isgrove and Olomola on the pitch that is amazing really against a near first choice Sunderland team. Having Boufal available now is a big plus. Arsenal away is a disappointing draw but at least will be a big allocation and cheap tickets, it was £10 when we went there in the league cup a couple of seasons ago. Hopefully our injured players of Long, Targett, Bertrand, Cedric all avoid international call ups and get a couple of weeks rest in November as that will make a big difference when we go into the mad run of games , 9 in a month 19th Nov - 18th Dec. Liverpool (H), Saturday Sparta Prague (A) Thursday Everton (H) Sunday Arsenal (A) Wednesday Palace (A) Saturday Be'erSheva (H) Thursday Middlesbrough (H) Sunday Stoke (A) Wednesday Bournemouth (A) Sunday
  10. it will be a decent crowd in terms of numbers, and cannot complain about the prices, but i do think it is a shame they have persisted with selling the Chapel and the family corner and keep the Kingsland stand closed. In my opinion if any stand was to be closed it should be the Chapel. The Kingsland offers best views and is a very popular place to sit, i think not having that available will impact sales and the atmosphere. I can't see many Sunderland fans bothering to travel down for this.
  11. There is another 40 or so seats back on sale in block 12 for Inter at home, not sure what is going on with the clubs ticket software as this game has been sold out about 3 times now only for some to suddenly become available again. the Sunderland game is similar as Itchen had sold out, then a load became available again , must be comps held back that are not taken up then released for sale.
  12. If we do sell him I hope it's abroad, will save me the hassle of shouting abuse at him when he returns in a Liverpool / Spurs / United shirt. Premier league players are probably quite attractive for Barca and Real Madrid right now with the exchange rate, in fact what used to cost £50M could now be £70M, let's export.
  13. That seems to be the consensus among Sunderland fans, they won't be back in the north east until the early hours of Thursday morning and are due to play Arsenal 12.30 on Saturday. Bottom of the league without a win It's a game they could do without. I know we need to preserve energy for Chelsea and Inter Milan next week but this does represent a great opportunity to get to the 1/4 finals, then who knows with the luck of the draw. I think McQueen will play, he's fit enough and it gives Bertrand more recovery time for Sunday. I'd definitely play Rodriguez and Boufal, both of whom need game time. If Stephens is comfortable at right back play him alongside Yoshida and Fonte. Will be a strange atmosphere with the entire Kingsland stand closed, hopefully being half term and cheap tickets sales will pick up and they'll open some more blocks. You would have thought of all the stands to close the Kingsland would not be the one being the most popular.
  14. Ha some of you seriously need to move on and forget about "Morgan the mercenary" he made it very clear he didn't want to be here and he had out grown little Southampton, so he should be held up as an example to players that leaving may well increase your bank balance but certainly does not guarantee an improvement in International recognition or that you will progress. He's had a shocking time at United really and long may that continue.
  15. One of the most frustrating games I can remember, you could see from the players reaction they knew it was a missed opportunity. Inter were a dirty, cynical team, playing for fouls and leaving the boot in a few times , horrible side to watch hope we smash them in the return fixture. Rodriguez was particularly disappointing I just cant see him ever returning to the standard of 13/14. It does seem a bit strange that Fonte hasn't featured in any European games. Guess he'll play v Sunderland next week.
  16. I know of quote a few heading to Prague without tickets, they don't expect to get in away end but will enjoy the trip and have a go getting in the home end. It wouldn't surprise me if we have a few hundred ticketless fans there. I notice Inter at home is now a sell out, should be a cracking atmosphere.
  17. I'm not looking forward to this game at all, having watched Barca give them a good beating you just know they'll be out for us on Sunday and I can picture the commentary as they take an early lead banishing the memory of the Nou Camp. Going to have to keep it tight and hope we can hit them on the break, much will depend on Redmond and Long injuries. If both out I'd rather see Ololuma alongside Austin instead of Rodriguez who is so far off the pace we can't afford to have him play again. Surprised we've sold out for this, fair play to those travelling.
  18. You could put money on that being the case. Multi million pound business but the ticket office is still run poorly in my opinion. They never have explained why Inter is only on sale to people who have purchased last couple of seasons rather than an open sale like Be'er Sheva was. The Sunderland home cup game another prime example, I logged on to get a ticket and they've still only got Itchen and Northam on sale, despite the Itchen being sold out with exception of corners. Im told just have to wait and club will decide what part of ground to open next. Any decent business would assess demand from their customers (half way line seats sold out quickly) and supply more by opening the Kingsland to maximise sales. They work at such a slow pace reminds me of dealing with the council.
  19. it's not mental, we'll beat Burnley plenty of times over our recent history, a win in the San Siro would be historical moment for the football club and it's fans that will be talked about long after the Burnley game is forgotten.
  20. There are still quite a few good travel options for Prague for anyone who finds they are now able to go. Hays Travel Southampton were offering a package, I saw someone put the link on here before. Sport Ops still have availability for a one night trip running from Southampton airport. https://www.sportoptions.com/SFC-game-3/index.asp And Broadway travel have a Prague promotion at the moment, worth giving them a call. https://www.broadwaytravel.com/offers/tzoo/pure-white?referrer=TravelZooTop20Offer3
  21. It's looking likely this will make it to just season ticket holders, maybe even members. Surprising but good I suppose. So far we've had Be'ersheva (anyone) Inter Milan (anyone with a purchase history last 3 years) and now Prague dropping right down it seems away games have been much easier to purchase than many on here anticipated. Likewise home games haven't sold particularly quickly for Europa games.
  22. With any luck that would be the case, from what I can see they haven't got much back up with the veteran Paul Robinson and a lad called Nick Pope being potential replacements, neither of them have played a game for Burnley yet. Their danger man Andre Gray is suspended as well I think for being nasty about people on twitter 5 years ago, so that's a bonus. Just got to keep Saints fan Sam Vokes quiet, hopefully he's tired after playing for Wales. Big day for our squad with Redmond, Ward-Prowse and Stephens in u21 squad set to play Bosnia at 3pm this afternoon (on BT sport for anyone not at work).I think Targett is still injured. Hoijberg and Steven Davis both play tonight, Forster maybe for England. Fonte, Van Dijk and Clasie should all be returning today, no more news on Cedric but Martina and Yoshida both involved in long distance travel, not been an ideal international break. Still plenty of tickets left for Sunday, I can't see Burnley bringing more than 1000 so will be a couple of blocks of Northam left empty. Reminder for anyone who just wants to sit and watch the game tickets for the away end on general sale only £20.
  23. The club's unwillingness to sell tickets openly is very strange and appears to lack any logic. We now have ample supply of tickets for Milan so no need to restrict sales to people with a purchase history for the last couple of seasons, there will be plenty of people with family / friends tagging along for the trip, so why not sell them tickets and fill up the end rather than leave the seats empty?
  24. He already has been, was out in Israel and has been training with the first team, I was very impressed with him when I went to Man Utd at home in u23s and i expect he'll be given a run out against Sunderland in the cup or one of the final Europa group games depending on what's at stake. The criticism of the timing of these games appears to be justified, in a u21 tournament we had FOUR players away with England u21s trip to Kazakhstan which arguably is better experience for the lads. I might go along for Crawley at home , a ticket stub from that one could be crucial to secure a ticket for Wembley if we make the final........
  25. I read that as well, they certainly haven't lost at home this season or last season, including beating Olympiakos and Celtic. No doubt about it this will be a tough match, I fear a game like Bournemouth away last season (in a similar stadium just with a much louder atmosphere) if we make too many changes. The weather won't be an issue, temperatures will drop to a comfortable level at night. I'm comfortable with Martina and Targett, both have played well when called upon already this season. Very much looking forward to the adventure of getting there, Negrev desert here we come.
