The Skates youth team play Barton Rangers in the FA Youth Cup at Fratton tonight, a win for them will set up a trip to St Marys, I notice a player called Oxlade-Chamberlain featured in the last round as well, interesting he is playing for them and not joined the saints academy like his older brother did.
-
Barton beat Stevenage 1-0 in the last minute so the minnows Barton Rangers now go to Fratton Park to play for the priviledge of going to St Marys in round 3!! surely skates have a good chance of getting through
-
As long we our allocation is 2000 odd then this will easily make it on general sale, at those prices just before Christmas, lots of away games coming up with Arsenal, Chelsea, Newcastle then Cardiff and Everton over Christmas. thats about double what we paid last year?!
-
Gutted about that, got tickets for the game hoping to see the Saints 3 combine to score for England, hopefully will see Lallana and Rodriguez debuts which will still make the journey worthwhile.
-
i think there is an element of complaceny here, England could well lose this game, and all the positive media reports at the moment won't neccessarily stop our players being blamed for it!
-
It will be interesting to see if Hodgson does play all three at the same time, and how he varies his teams in the games v South American Chile and European Germany. Chile really are a good side. they have qualified for the World Cup and recent results suggest they stand a good chance to beat England, especially one with a experimental side. recent results for them this year include; 15/10 - Chile 2v1 Ecuador 11/10 - Columbia 3v3 Chile 10/09 - Spain 2 v 2 Chile 06/09 - Chile 3 v 0 Venezuela 14/08 - Chile 6v 0 Iraq 11/06 - Chile 3v1 Bolivia 07/06 - Paraguay 1v2 Chile 24/04 - Brazil 2v2 Chile 26/03 - Chile 2v0 Uruguay they are going on to play Brazil in Canada next Tuesday so perhaps will rest some players for that.

that sounds like it must be nearly sold out then? if there are 3200 away fans, 3000 sold to non-season ticket holders , roughly how many would that leave on sale? i am surprised we do not assist overseas fans IF they have a history of buying tickets in the past, especially in our non-Premier league days.
-
any updates on players dropping out of the squad so far ? assume Wellbeck is out , hopefully Glen Johnson as well and they'll call up Clyne as a replacement.
-
the smaller allocation at Chelsea is actually 1500 which I'd what we have. the bigger allocation is 3000 so we'd have had to sell double. seeing as we've sold out more than 3 weeks in advance to season ticket holders with 1 away game (didn't even make sale of just season ticket holders) then I think we might have got close to selling all 3000 on general sale
-
I thought exactly the same thing, and on the basis only expensive tickets left for Germany but cheap ones still available for Chile (and Friday night being more convenient ) I reckon I'll do the Chile game in the hope to see 2 or hopefully 3 Saints players on at the same time. will wait until after today's games to see if anyone drops out. I think wiltshere for Arsenal and Wellbeck will, a few more will help our boys get a look in.

what makes me laugh is I was annoyed we played a weakened team at Leeds last year when we could have had a go at the cup (look at Bradford) but was told on here that was ridiculous to risk our beat players when premier league survival was at stake ! some people said aim for consolidation in the league then have a go at the cups. and this year ? no once again we couldn't possibly risk some first teamers in the attempt to win a cup, far to important to keep them for our champions league push! theirs always an excuse. and Derry , small crowd for saints is due to reserve side and high prices. cheap deals and at least look like we take it seriously would see much higher crowds.

Everton v Saints - Kick off moved to 1:30pm on Sunday 29th December
JRM replied to trousers's topic in The Saints
are you going ? hardly think you are in a position to tell a travelling regular fan what to do. no doubt you'd prefer our support to be a borefest like Reading / Fulham -

and rubs in SFC's lack of interest in using the £200k to aid away travel we'll have 300 odd at Everton now -

This is disgraceful. Complete contempt for the travelling away fan - who book up tickets in advance for trains in order to get affordable fares. SKY and BT Confirmed all their games for December back in early October! fans should then be able to rely on the fixture list, but no, what a complete f*ck up by the club -
IF this happens......then play the strongest U18 team we have ! I think they beat our u18s last year. could be a good one, big crowd at St marys.
-
it looks like it will be very wet tomorrow , not ideal conditions for passing football although the worst of the rain looks like it will pass by 3pm. it might put a few of the 'walk up' crowd off, has anyone done the usual check on ticket sales ? despite our good run of form / England call ups / having only one home game this month / lowest price category C tickets we still haven't sold out !
-
what like - Sunderland at home? West Ham at home? Norwich away? Stoke away? 3 points from a possible 12. if we are serious about a European spot we'll look back at points dropped against those teams currently near the bottom. beat Hull we'd be on 22 points from 11 game. - 2 points a game. after Hull we play - Arsenal away, Chelsea away, Villa home, Man City home, Newcastle away, Spurs home. - out of those potential 18 points i think if we get 9 we'd be doing well.
-
top post. sums up my thoughts exactly.
-
well Hull City's fans haven't heard about our lovely painted concourse, they have only sold "just over 1000" tickets. http://mobile.hullcityafc.net/news/article/201314-southampton-a-tiger-travel-1157085.aspx?pd=635193250000000000

i think you'll be fine, they are on sale now to season ticket holders with 3 away games and on Friday to season ticket holders with one, as the game is on SKY and so expensive i think it will even make general sale
-
for purely arguments sake, we use 70k of the fund and make it £25 for saints fans at Chelsea, we then fill half the Shed end rather than a small corner - gives the team better support
-
exactly - we could have had 3000 allocation for Chelsea, we have only taken the smaller allocation of 1500, so our support can't be that great can it? we could have used the fund to get a better following up there. Chelsea chartered a train for Man United away on a Monday night and charged £10 return for it, this was particularly interesting as being a night game for TV fans usually would not have been able to get back same day by public transport, so the deal made a real difference, club and fans benefiting each other. Stoke have said they will go above the 200k and add more cash themselves as they see the value in taking a big following to support the team - free coaches for every away game, not saying i want that, but just an example. Norwich halved the price of tickets for Man City away from £35 to £17.50.

what's that got to do with Sunderland away and the league cup? CB Frys point is absolutely spot on
