  1. its things like this http://www.telegraph.co.uk/education/10806862/City-fights-new-Trojan-Horse-Islamic-schools-plot.html and the constant need to appease the muslim population that has seen it becoming increasingly visible, no pork, only Halal meat, change in curriculum.....
  2. i've heard he is growing his hair to become a rastafarian so that is why he won't be going to the grooming salon any more
  3. It all depends on how you define ambition really, if it is to earn £100k per week then we are never going to match that . It will come down to the players demand s and whether they want to leave / force a move, if they do there's not much we can do other than get the best price. Fingers crossed they all stay and we can get rid of Osvaldo and Ramirez who have been a drain on our resources. Whatever the result I'll stay at the end to applaud them off , great season with the one big regret being the approach to the cups hopefully Giggs plays a few youngsters up front again and we can finish with a win (3 in a row and feel good factor would help season ticet sales as would a good World Cup.
  4. perhaps it is a cunning ploy to encourage fans to let off flares and invade the pitch if we score at our end, everyone wearing a mask they'll have no idea who's who
  5. It has been an enjoyable season and I am pleased with 8th place "best of the rest" title considering the teams above us. Any progress to move up from there next season will be very difficult, so on the basis we can continue as a top half side I would love for us to give the cup competitions more focus next season and try to add some silverware to our bare cabinet. I've enjoyed watching Lambert, Rodriguez, Lallana and Shaw make their England debuts and I think that will make us an attractive club to sign for up and coming English players. I think it would work well if saints can use the loan market to bring in a player like Lukaku to plug the gap if Rodriguez is out for a longer period. Beating Man Utd last game of the season would be nice as well.
  6. I noticed a couple of weeks ago that Everton had sold out their end , but does anyone know if they've taken the full 3200? Home ends now close to being sold out so hopefully a decent atmosphere for an early ko. Looking forward to the game, Everton will have to go for the win so should be quite open. Would definitely take a point but a win would be nice to lift the place, lots of negatively at the Cardiff game.
  7. If 1300 is all the upper tier holds you should imagine that will sell out fairly quickly, although that will be impacted by the selling periods and people holding back to get the lower tier preference. i was going to get tickets today buy will wait until Friday and see if the lower tier is on sale then.
  8. Ha yes i remember those, i wonder if Eileen and Alan who used to run the Junior Saints got a commission for every member they got to sign up! those were the days, used to look forward to getting a birthday card signed by your favourite player. do they do anything like that for kids now?
  9. We sold out at Chelsea this year mate, we were in the top 3 at the time though. Not sure what allocation we've taken for spurs this time with it being a sunday lunchtime game on sky, plus there are rail engineering works on the way up can see that putting people off and we have just had a run of Saturday 3pm away games at Fulham, West Ham and Palace. I think lower tier is sold out for Spurs already and you'd have thought a fair few would fancy a trip to see us win at White Hart Lane. For those travelling by train expect Waterloo to be busy with a few thousand Gosport fans going to Wembley for the FA Trophy final v Cambridge United, bound to be a few skates there with them. For those driving to the game there used to be some free parking available on industrial estates near North Middlesex hospital. Hope weve got a strong side out for this, think we'll miss Cork in midfield but if spurs give it a good go at Benfica Thursday night that will work in our favour.
  10. Not sure but he was from there so wouldn't surprise me! "dull and provincial" could describe Woking and any number of home counties towns. In terms of Southampton, i've just been for a 50 min run taking in some of my favourite parts for memories, along Archers Road past the Dell, up Northlands Road past the old County Ground, around the common on a beautiful sunny day. Lovely. Ocean Village is a decent spot in the summer for a pint as well. went to see War Horse the other week at the Mayflower theatre, one of the biggest outside of London that attracts some of the top shows. We have a premier league football club, international cricket hosted just outside the boundary of the city at the Rose Bowl, London in just over an hour on the train, the New Forest a short drive away. Can't complain really.
  11. No offence mate, but Woking is hardly the cultural capital of England, having lived there for 5 years myself a walk around the Peacock centre and a night out in RSVP don't offer a lot. Sure London is great, but you still have to jump on a train to get there, just a bit of a head start than people living in Southampton. in terms of Southampton itself, i think it has a lot of potential, but some short sighted planning and lack of enthusiasm from the council will never unlock it. Depresses me to see what Pompey have done with Gunwharf and the historic dockyard. Still parts of Southampton are a very nice place to live, with superb access to New Forest on the door step, IOW, plenty to do i can think of worse places to live.
  12. This is starting to get ridiculous, what a shambles. If the hotel end was done properly it would have given the ground a the look of a decent test venue, instead it will still look like a building site next summer. the council should spend the money laying on decent public transport to get to the ground on a match day
  13. Interesting times, the key will be whether he intereferes with Pochettino's management style and if they can work together. i enjoyed the comment at the end of the article calling for the return of the Anglo Scottish cup
  14. If anyone wants a cheap ticket for the game and doesn't mind sitting on their hands for 90 mins and not cheering (which applies to 70% of our support anyway) you can go in the away send for £10 off (an example of a club who actually uses the away fan fund for what it was INTENDED for) http://www.canaries.co.uk/news/article/20140310-southampton-a-1409222.aspx so Norwich fans only paying £22, might bring a few down at that price. We seem to have played them midweek quite a lot in recent years as well.
  15. i think the squads are announced after the West Ham away game so still a couple of games to make an impression - surely Lambert will keep his place in the squad with Carrol hardly playing many games this season, would be great to have Lambert, Rodriguez, Lallana and Shaw all in there as a confidence boost. Gives them a great incentive to play well for the rest of the season as well.
  16. With Wes Brown already suspended we could do with them picking up a couple more knocks and suspensions tonight , anything that helps give us the advantage. I'd take a replay but fingers crossed we can nick a win up there and then look forward to the 1/4 final draw on Sunday !
  17. Very Sad, RIP, He did score v Yeovil in the Cup so hopefully he got to see that.
  18. JRM

    Liverpool tickets

    we need a bigger ground.
  19. the Juve fan I work with isn't particularly keen on signing him , the fans didn't like him at Roma and he's going to have to work hard to win them over at Juve. Fingers crossed he's successful for half a season and we get our money back for him. I still get the sense that Ramirez may have left as well if he hadn't got injured at Sunderland , the return on the combined cost of those two is so disappointing it makes you think we're better off with our policy of young players like Rodriguez , Clyne coming in and adding to the squad. I can see posters like SaintsFanCam above starting to air negativity in preparation for having a pop at the Katarina regime for not spending, but I back her in everything she has done so far.
  20. Nice one if thats true, was ridiculous before if you were stuck in the queue at the ticket office (due to not enough windows open) then got charged more for parking. has it been officially announced?
  21. wow there are some cheap seats below cost price in other parts of the ground on there, worth using for people who just want to see the game. the "Neutral stand" is the Putney end for those wanting to buy, it is the same stand as away fans and you enter using the same turnstiles. £35 in there at the moment. for many games the neutral area is just an extension of the away end so you don't need to worry about being in with home fans, the ones who do go in there tend to be Japanese tourists taking lots of photos , and Aussies who just want to go to a soccer match
  22. yeah i noticed that, the back 4 rows of block 10, wonder why they had shown as sold previously but all now available.
  23. just had a look and there are some seats elsewhere as well, 6 in a row in block 26 back row
  24. it's not really an "extra" game, we are playing Hull away then, another LONG trip, would be nice if club used Osvaldo fine to pay for free travel for the cup game
  25. this game will not be sold out due to parts of the stadium being closed the club have already opened a couple more blocks from what was originally available when they went on sale, and they will continue to do so if required as other areas fill up. the grounds capacity has not been reduced!
