Burrows uses Bradford, Hillsborough and Ibrox disasters to justify bubble
JRM replied to stevegrant's topic in The Saints
should we not be blaming those at Hillsborough and Bradford? i thought those were the examples why we need these measures, PC Burrows says so. -

why won't it Dune? i work with a Liverpool fan who was there that day, in the leppings lane terrace but in one of the side pens so was not injured, mentioned this to him earlier and he was very critical , the justice for the 96 campaign is very active, and would more than likely send a letter to Mr Burrows letting them know their views -

he is letting the fans know, "if you don't let me look after you in my bubble, look what could happen to you? you might die like one of those fans, and you don't want that do you? so support my bubble" -

personally, for him to follow up mentioning Bradford and Hillsborough with "too readily deny the link between football violence and tragedy" he is bringing the two subjects together. -

Burrows uses Bradford, Hillsborough and Ibrox disasters to justify bubble

so why does he mention the Bradford and Hillsborough disasters? i think they are in very bad taste, and in no way support his arguement for his bubble, he implies there is a link between football violence and disasters having mentioned two which have no link. -

Wrong mr Shurlock, with a name like yours are you sure you are not a fan of the OB? when Mr Burrows wrote his piece justifying the use of a bubble coach trip why put "We all too quickly forget the events of Hillsborough, Bradford and Stairway 13 and too readily deny the link between football violence and tragedy, as seen at Heysel." what possible reason does he have for mentioning the fire in Bradford that killed fan in connection with his decision making? i suggest it is he who needs avoid being alarmist and is bringing cases that did not involve football violence into his arguement he shows himself to be ill informed. -

if the lady from the FSF is still around looking into the use of the bubble and the justification for it this article will be a very good one to provide for her, and shows Mr Burrows up for being completely out of touch and ill informed, i wonder how the relatives of the deceased of Hillsborough and Bradford like the use of their cases being used to justify a bubble coach trip? -
i take your point that we don't have actual firm figures from the club so to some extent will never know. but if "everyone who applied" got a ticket then that should be a give away realy
-
wrong. we have 13000ish season ticket holders who could each get 2 with no away games done, that is 26000 roughly available, plus database with 4+ away games, out of the span we seem to have failed to sell 3k, becuase basically a lot of our fans don't fancy it. we have had other threads where people have compared out support to that of other clubs, but failing to sell out a local derby would put us in the bracket of a Fulham or Blackburn
-
no it was in saturdays paper, about 12 pages in, if anyone has it scan it in for all to see.
-
we can get a big cup draw, say Arsenal away, take 9000 and it will rightly be pointed out where were all these people at Fratton?!
-
Also did anyone see Saturday’s Daily Echo? They did a full page on the bubble arrangements, with two sides given for and against the use of the bubble, the against side was argued by Steve Grant of Saintsweb fame and came across making all the correct points, highlighting inconvenience and freedom of movement. The For argument was written by celebrity copper Rick Burrows and was quite simply the most mis-informed disgusting read , in his attempt to justify use of the bubble he goes on to say that unfortunately football violence has been linked to tragedy too often in the past but then uses the examples of HILLSBOROUGH and BRADFORD!!! I am tempted to do a letter to the echo and to Mr Burrows to point out that Bradford was caused by a FIRE IN A WOODEN STAND, and Hillsborough was caused by over-crowding, fans without tickets, POLICE incompetence, and fencing. Nothing that his Bubble will assist with!!!!

facts; - ticket office confirmed "everyone who applied has got a ticket" = highly unlikely to be sold out is it? - ticket office refused to confirm what our allocation is when asked, just bluffing saying do not have that information available - why? - rather than announcing a "sell out" they just said tickets had been taken up, again with no acknowledgement of allocation and number sold. the whole thing has been a bizarre shambles.

my first one was David Armstrong i think mate, i remember in the late 80s going into the junior saints office in the car park on the west stand, used to get a programme and a crunchie in there, good for the little kids, but we used to have some complete dweebs hanging around there, most of them seem to have grown up in a similar vein and now post on here
-
you're not going to Fratton either then? i am sure you'll be safe in your nice and friendly household shouting at your tv then rushing on here to discuss the performance
-
neither of you read my post then, the games i referred to were away games we rolled over in, Tranmere and Rochdale last year we were rubbish, same as Donny and Bristol City this year
-
never again can we take pride in our support, 4200 to Reading, 55000 to Wembley, 4000 to Orient, all means absolutely nothing if we can't muster 3k to take down the road for the biggest one of them all
-
Not Good. Our support will be ridiculed on national tv for having empty seats for our local derby away game despite being top of the league
-
so it wasn't sold out then.
-
our support is Sh*t if that is the case
-
Personally the fact they never said the number of tickets we received, and refused to tell people who asked, they then did a criptic announcement that "tickets has been taken up" when we know usually they would say saints have sold out X amount of tickets. very strange, the whole thing is a complete shambles, but people like Frank above are talking b0llocks, if fans don't go just because it is on tv they are basically bottling it for the comfort of their sofa simple as that.
-
There are some similarities to some of the rubbish away performances we had to sit through last season at lower clubs playing teams who we should beat but rolling over; Tranmere lost 2-0 Walsall lost 1-0 Rochdale lost 2-0 In the 2nd half of the season last year.

what does the letter say? "i am the safety officer and you will do as i say"
