Both penalties for me.

We are talking about James Maddison not Lionel Messi. Surely you are not suggesting that we are bidding for championship players (albeit good ones) who we know we won’t end up signing simply to create the illusion that we might and to appease fans who think we have no intention of signing anyone.
-
Carrillo cost decent money, he just isn't a decent player (caveat - prepared to give him 5 games in a non-Pellegrino team to find out for complete confirmation. Then again Hughes probably won't feel the same). Anyway, the point is IF we are in for Maddison and bidding 20 odd million it dispels any fears that we are just going to try to muddle through with the current players and not buy any new ones that cost decent money.
-
It does. Even if we don't get him we know that we are in the market and bidding decent money for players.

Sweet mother of christ if that really is 1 star. Refuse to believe it's real.

All the things he suggested we should do would make us harder to beat and we should therefore do them. It won’t turn us into Don Revie’s Leeds either.
-
Oh well Liverpool, never mind. So gutted for them and just wish anyone other than Bale had scored the 2 goals that ****ed them over??????
-
I don’t think that’s a “pretty poor record” whatsoever.

Am I ecstatic about this appointment per se - No. Am I ecstatic that we have a manager who has already proven he will get better results than the previous plank - Yes. I'm confident that Hughes will achieve the wins against Huddersfield, Watford, Bournemouth, Brighton etc etc that MP was incapable of doing and which will see us ok next season and that'll do for now.
-
Weren’t we only prepared to sell to a businessman who could take us to the next level though (or something)? Ergo he would have to give a flying **** about doing well and consequently a flying **** about us fans. Surely we haven’t been lied to have we?
-
Ditto. It’s alright.

Sometimes the internet can seem such a strange, sad, bewildering place.

Well the the Les and Ralph trying to appoint the new Mopo/Mope but being rebuffed from above stuff is new info for me and is intriguing to say the least. Hints at a power struggle. Hopefully It ends in Hughes being appointed but 20% leaves a lot of room for doubt.
-
Really? Well this new info from Africa certainly stirs the pot of intrigue.

It’s obvious we have a bang average squad without seeing it written down Tbf. General policy seems to be to go for youth and form over experience, so a longer term approach which is fine by me if it means no Hart or Wilshire but then the inclusion of Cahill flies in the face of that policy somewhat. Just see what happens I guess, we obviously aren’t going to win it whoever we pick.

Star ratings don’t start low enough for this bloke. Truly, shockingly awful and confirmed as such by obvious and swift improvement under Hughes.

‘Met’ a City fan on the train down from London who looked capable of head butting it all the way back from where it came from (he started talking at me just past Winchester). I declined to argue the point when he claimed their recent success had nothing to do with money. He also said it had been a “funny old season” for them.

Yes would definitely keep him, he’s capable of being a regular starter in a three as long as he’s deputy not sheriff. He is still annoyingly capable of **** poor defending at times exhibit 1 pathetic attempted block v Arsenal.

1.Keep Hughes 2 year deal. He’s Not the greatest but perfectly adequate to stabilise an above average team in a below average Premier League which is what we are and what the Prem will continue to be next season with the likes of Huddersfield, Brighton, Bournemouth, Watford, Palace, plus the 3 new clubs (though I think Wolves will do well). 2. Try to keep Cedric and Bertrand. Used correctly - as Hughes has - and on form they are both top drawer wingbacks, will be a major issue trying to replace both adequately. 3. Get experienced CB who’s good in the air and is a leader and organiser (no idea who ticks all those boxes and is attainable maybe Evans). Jan and probably Hoedt can cut it but not on their own or just with Yoshida who I would still keep on. Stephens could be a decent utility player, still think midfield may suit him best but could fill in at cb or rb in emergencies. 4. Buy a number 10/creative midfielder who can score. You won’t get better than Shaquiri for the 12m he’s reportedly available for. 5. Buy a new striker to be the player to fill the role Carillo was meant to but has shown no capabilities of doing. All the above assumes no further outgoings which there obviously will be. Expect Gabb and probably Tadic will go at a minimum, I would keep both despite being **** all season until Hughes came in.

Where was our ****ing guard of honour from Wham the game after we beat Wigan to reach this season's FA Cup semi final? Eh? Still furious we didn't get one.

Great Escapes - past and present ... is this the best ?
stknowle replied to manina-pub's topic in The Saints
Les will be claiming he did it deliberately just to break the monotony of finishing in the hop 8. Best escape was Dellhurst Park season which probably was 88/89 but I can’t be arsed to check. TBF last night had the same do or die feeling and ultimately result, plus it still wasn’t definitely over just as it isn’t now. -
Mate/Pal if you would prefer I would have a lot more time for your points of view if you didn’t just churn out the old I’ve been warning but no-one would listen/I was lambasted/ lI am now being proved correct in my assertions bull**** over and over again for whatever bizarre reason you do it for. Funnily enough it looks like you are just about to be proven incorrect in your assertions (again).
